This is for the Jack Kirby show that's coming up in August. I always loved the way he visually told stories made with crazy bold graphics. This one is taking an extra creature from an old comic book and painting it up in Photoshop while keeping the bold designs that Kirby created. I wanted to do something more complicated but I've got many other projects that need my attention right now so this one will have to suffice.

Join me at this new exhibit by Stephanie Lile featuring Ernest Oglby Punkweiler. There are several artists from the Seattle area who have art in this exhibit: Jo Gershman, Craig Orback, Julie Pashkis, Richard Jesse Watson, Karen Lee Schmidt, Tucker Sharon and Paul Owen Lewis.
This is in front of the Tacoma History Museum. Happy to see my art up so big. I'm starting to get excited about the opening on May 17th. If you are in the Seattle/Tacoma area, you are invited! Hope to see you there! :D
Just got this photo of my art on Jones Soda!!! In preparation for the big show at the Tacoma History Museum in May! (Photo courtesy of Dana Sullivan) Stay tuned for more details soon.

I did this for a project that I had been working on at the Tacoma History Museum. I did several murals and the signage. This one was an extra illustration that I threw in because I really liked working on the exhibit, which opens in May of 2014. Stay posted! :D

I actually did this two months ago... but I do 3 - 4 abstracts a month. I start out making the shapes in Illustrator and then move to Photoshop. I'll post more soon.

SMASH AND GRAB... someone broke into my car tonight (the Fremont area of Seattle) and stole my backpack that had volume 10 of my graphic novel art in it! Along with my classic iPod, parking remote for work, brand new noise canceling headphones,... glass all over the interior of the car and I had to drive home on three freeways with no side window at 1am. If anyone would like to help and put up some of these flyers around the Fremont area of Seattle, I'd appreciate it. Thank you.

LOL - always great and imaginative work, Mike. Nice to see you're in the holiday spirit. I've been kickin' around a few ideas for a Christmas illo too. I knew this was yours as soon as I saw it.
Thanks Lou! Kind words. I'm glad you dig it! I hope to see your's up there soon. This one was a long time coming. I might have another Xmas sketch in the next few weeks...
I've got a brand new painting and it's a bit left over from Halloween but there ya' go... I'm working on an Xmas painting right now that I hope to have finished for Thanksgiving... stay tuned and hope you dig the Rat!
Hi everyone! I've started a new project on Kickstarter. It's my new kids picture book "Super Alphabet". Please stop by and take a look. I would greatly appreciate in advance if you contribute but I totally understand if money is tight. If you could take a few minutes to post the link to other sites and possibly send it to friends who might be interested, that would help greatly and you would have my undying appreciation. Keeping my fingers crossed and working on the text for the interior of the book. Here's the link: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/180530905/the-super-alphabet-picture-book Thanks, Mike

Here's a drawing from a 15 minute sketch challenge two weeks ago! Summer in the Pacific Northwest this year has been coming in fits and starts but not staying. We have more clouds than sun. This is my attempt to visual who is causing this problem... at least from a metaphoric pov... Hope you dig it!
Originally I illustrated this book back in the late 1990s. I found this video during a search the other day. I was very pleased to see what they did with my art but not so happy about not being consulted or paid for this. Hey Scholastic... at least throw me a few bones would ya'?
