1. MOOCs and higher education: evolution or revolution?

Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) burst into the public consciousness in 2012 after feverish press reports about elite US universities offering free courses, through the Internet, to hundreds of thousands of people worldwide. A Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) course on Circuits and Electronics that had attracted 155,000 registrations was a typical example. Pundits proclaimed a revolution in higher education and numerous universities, fearful of being left behind, joined a rush to offer MOOCs.

A little reminder…

Section 2 of January classes start tomorrow. Did you reserve your space?

I’ve loved hosting my classes here instead of Schoology! Schoology is great and organized, but it’s nicer to have the classes here and be able to have the hands-on personal touch that allows me to have.

Ready to have some fun? Empath School here, Fairy Online School here.

14. Things are looking a little different here and Cyber Monday Sale!

empathschool

Lots of Changes

Things are looking a little different here…

I spent my Sunday playing on the computer rearranging, assessing, playing with my websites, and cuddling dogs in my jammies.

It seemed the Empath classes really wanted their own place, and didn’t want to be confused with the fairy/nature classes. Ha ha! So, they get their own school. Seriously, I have fairy students who love the whole Nature healing thing, and then I have my Sensitive students, who think the whole fairy thing is a little crazy. So, this makes sense. Each needs their own place to land here.

For January, I’m making Fairy Online School a little more accessible and more “self-serve.” I’ll still be available once a week for each class to answer questions, and talk about your lovely homework, but it’s more a no-pressure, have fun kind of thing. There’s two start dates, each on a Friday, for your convenience. So, if you finally want to learn about flower essences, or commune with Nature, tackle those empathic skills, or dive into animal communication, this is the place. Some classes will be retired. :( So sad. And some regrouped, but the student favorites will remain.

I am not doing any readings anymore. Sad too. I’m focusing more on the writing and teaching others how to communicate themselves.

Fairy deck

I’m working on new books in the HELP! I’M SENSITIVE series and the Fairy Deck, finally! Here’s a teeny little peek.

DSC00181

I’ve used some of the cards for my 2013 Calendar, and I really think it’s time for the cards to be, well, cards! So, if you see me on Facebook, do encourage me to finish them! I’m hoping for an early Spring launch, but we will see how that plays out with all the other creative projects I tackle at once (creative ADD).

I’ve been working diligently on my Story/Design Studio site also. I’ve been having a blast learning about video editing and storytelling used for teaching. PURE BLISS! Okay, maybe some of the program learning has been a little frustrating and filled with curse words, but the challenge of learning has been very, very fun.

Cyber Monday Through Wednesday Sale!

I want to thank all my new followers from Pinterest! My little quiz, Are you a sensitive, is practically going viral! For all of you, and my loyal friends and students, I give you Cyber Monday through Wednesday sale on classes! Sign up for January classes now at a whopping $25 off. It’s my thank you to you and to entice you to try out Empath or Fairy School. Yay! Go here to Empath School, here to Fairy Online School to sign up right away before the sale ends! These are crazy cool prices.

Take the Poll

I’m curious what YOU want to see birthed from Fairy Online or Empath School for 2014. Take the poll! I was considering creating a storytelling your life course also with all the cool skills I learned and can share with you. Would you be interested in that? What changes do you want or need? I’d love to hear from you!

The great Early Bird Specials that were supposed to end yesterday are extended until 12pm tonight. TODAY ONLY! Take advantage of lower rates to sign up for classes that start this Friday!

Spotlight Class:

Rocks and Trees. RT101

rockperson1

An unusual but fun and informative class which covers grounding with trees, healing with ordinary rocks and making leaf essences. Very fun.

“Rocks and Trees rocks! I enjoyed the numerous activities that got me out into nature and in touch with my intuitive side. The activities were easy and fun and helped me learn more about essences and the healing qualities of rocks and trees. Just looking at Ronni’s delightful artwork each week was a treat. I highly recommend this class for anyone looking to find magic in the world of nature and opening up their intuitive and creative channels.” — Ruth Elsesser, Cottonwood, AZ

19. Do I offer discounts on classes?

from THE BLUE TREE

from THE BLUE TREE

I am often asked if I offer discounts on my classes or services. Yes, I do! To make things easier and affordable each session I offer EARLY BIRD SPECIALS on classes. It’s an opportunity to save money by signing up early. You can see the list of JULY classes here. Sign up by July 1st to get the class price advantage. For Private Lessons, I offer special bundle rates so if you schedule more sessions you save big and the prices go way down.

I would love to discount even more but this is how I earn my living. Every dollar earned at this site helps me eat and pay for things like the Internet, electricity, and my computer so I can continue to offer my services and products. I do offer two-payment plans and Paypal has Bill Me Later which breaks the payments down into small pieces which makes it reasonable. I’ve used that service before and it’s very helpful.

I had one person ask not too long ago if they could have a free class because they were on a limited budget. I had to laugh — I’m on a limited budget myself and am not in the situation yet where I can give away any of my time free. Hopefully, in the future, I can offer scholarships when I am in that position.

Look forward to seeing you in class!

learnwithme

The Fairy Online School is Evolving

I’m really excited about some of the changes in format for the Fairy Online School. Classes are hosted at the Schoology site so we can have discussions and polls and other fun things which also makes it much easier for me as a teacher to have everything organized in one place! Playsheets and exercises can be downloaded and will be separate from lessons. I can also share links, videos, and you can upload and share homeworks.

So far, the classes going for January are:

  • Animal Mediumship
  • Animal Communication
  • Empath Skills class

But it’s still 2 days early!

Why don’t you join us? If you have any questions, be sure to email me or use the Contact Me form. Click here to head to the catalog.
