4. What the heck is a flower essence?

Glad you asked. Often students and readers ask me this. Rather then go into a long diatribe that makes their eyes glass over, I share this video I made.

Cool, huh? Flower essences are so great for working with sensitive people because they are non-toxic and we are so darn sensitive that the essence goes straight to what needs healing in a loving, gentle way, giving tons of us insights.

6. I’m Going to be a Pumpkin Mommy

DSC01370

My pumpkins are exploding and taking over. Lots of leaves. Awaiting the pumpkins…

DSC01373

I love their leaves. I’ve wanted to plant pumpkins for the last three years I’ve been at the Fairy Castle. I’m so excited.

DSC01282

Here they are in their infant stage. Pumpkin is a fabulous flower essence for clearing things out that need a little push.

7. Flower Essence Q and A

key for guide copy

What are flower essences and why are they so cool?

I discovered flower essences long ago. It wasn’t an instant pull; I was actually quite skeptical about them and a little wary. Like most new things, we make that step and surprised we hadn’t found that new thing that will help us all along. One thing I do know, the more I’ve used flower essences, the more I have felt this deep bond with Nature.

Many of my students and folks coming to this site have questions about what essences are, so I thought I’d have a little Q and A.

Q: What the heck are flower essences?

A: Check out this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7OqBx2eV3k

Q: Are flower essences like regular medicines?

A: No. Since there is nothing inside of them that is physical material, you aren’t reacting to a substance. They are safe to take with other medicines.

Q: Are flower essences cure-alls? I can take HOLLY for anger, and have no anger?

A: I wish! There are some essences that are “stabilizing” and those are great for reaching for immediate relief, like BACH RESCUE REMEDY will calm you right away in a scary situation. SALVIA is very emotionally calming. ASPEN will help alleviate great fear. These essences help in the moment. Some, like the PANSIES will help ease grief and sadness over time. Other essences will illuminate with use WHY you are angry or upset underneath and deal with an underlying pattern you keep reliving. As you take the essence, great insight will come up that will help you change that pattern or thinking and give you a new perspective.

Q: How do you take them?

A: I like putting a few drops in my water or under the tongue once a day if you are sensitive; 2-4 times a day otherwise.

Q: Can you take the wrong essence?

A: Many teachers say that if you take the wrong essence, you won’t resonate and you won’t respond. I found with sensitive folks we often respond to everything being so empathic. If you take an essence and you feel off or wonky it’s probably the wrong one and might be too strong.

Q: Can animals use essences?

A: Absolutely! My girls will lick them from my hand, or I can put a few drops on their bodies. I usually put the drops on their food or water.

12. The WTF Flower Essences

The last two weeks have been crazy and emotional and well, WTF days. I grew up in New Jersey and have spent many days down the shore. Seeing boardwalks washed away and hearing family has no power has been adding to the crazy. Then there’s animal health issues and …you understand. You are going through the same crazy and wild stuff right now. I am so grateful for flower essences right now and some I’m guzzling! So, here’s

The top 5 WTF days essences I recommend

  1. SALVIA. Love this AZ flower that is emotionally calming and stabilizing during big upsets and stressful events.
  2. BACH REMEDIES make RESCUE REMEDY and STAR OF BETHLEHEM. RESCUE REMEDY is the cure-all for fear, panic and emotional overload. Bach Remedies are made with alcohol but you can dilute them more by putting a few drips into a glass of water.  STAR OF BETHLEHEM is wonderful for soothing out the effects of trauma.
  3. CALENDULA. Calendula is great for creating emotional detachment of boundaries, meaning, seeing what is yours and what is others. This has been crucial for me lately as I am picking up a ton of fear and upset and walking away with it. Us sensitive and compassionate folks can have our energy pulled everywhere we feel its needed, or  where we feel the pain of others. It’s okay right now to step back a little so we don’t get caught in the tornado, because then we can’t even be support for anyone else.
  4. ROSEMARY. One big thing I am noticing is that when I’m upset, I’m seriously ungrounded. I can’t think straight. Relate? The key is to feel firmly attached to the ground and strong. Rosemary is a super flower essence for pulling you back in, but gently.
  5. WHITE ROSE. It’s hard not to get caught up in the fear and upset and feel doom and gloom. We need to be raised up over the craziness just to function. That’s what WHITE ROSE likes to do.

Bach Remedies can be found in most health food stores. And the other flower essences I mentioned can be found in my Essence store here.

Ironic that Nature and the environment is the one acting out with the storms, and yet Flower Essences, straight from Nature, is what can help us heal and deal with those changes.

13. Mulberry Tree’s Loving Embrace

The Mulberry trees in my fairy yard are HUGE this summer and seem very happy. They need haircuts, though.

I can sit under the Mulberry tree and he feels like a big umbrella covering me.

I asked the tree for permission and made an essence from his leaf. The healing pattern of this tree is of strength and endurance. Gives you the feeling of dusting off your pants, standing up, and able to keep going when you feel discouraged and drained.

I invited Emma to come sit with me under the tree. She had to move from her cushy outdoor puppy bed. So spoiled.

Totally dig the Mulberry essence, and look forward to sitting under the tree’s leaves often this summer.  It’s available in my Essence store here.

14. In the Garden and Empathically Reading Flowers

My pansies were doing good until the high heat we’ve been having hit, so I put them in the backyard shade. This Pansy feels very uplifting and since most pansies are for healing the heart, this one is uplifting my mood! I don’t feel the deep clearing that I did when I worked with the purple pansy essence I made.

The Rosa Mundis (Candi Rose) are doing well this year. They smell so sweet. These flowers are great for getting my imagination and creativity flowing. I made an essence of them last year.

The sweet yellow tea roses are covering their bushes with blooms. I made an essence of one yesterday which is now in research mode. I can tell the flower’s healing pattern is for confidence and self-esteem because I felt the effects right away even during the process of making the essence.

Love the red roses climbing up the wall. This rose (Red Rose) is great for healing addictive thinking–that brain on the hamster wheel feeling. I made an essence of it last year. There’s less of the blooms this year. I wonder if I need it less?

I love the smell of these roses (Hot Pink Rose) that are so large they could be on steroids! There are so many this year, I must really need them. This essence is so great for discouragement and lost hope.

Why, what’s this found in the garden? Doesn’t look like a flower. No, that’s my office assistant, Emma Lou Bangles, taking a coffee break.

I have some news roses to make essences out of this year. Like most roses, they feel very uplifting and high in vibration. These feel like they affect my mood in a good way, like sunshine.

The Lupine that surprised me has made an interesting flower essence. It’s still in research, but its healing pattern embodies self-reliance and strength even if living in an arid or non-supportive environment.
