Shakespeare's characters can often appear far-removed from our modern day world of YouTube, Beyoncé and grime. Yet they were certainly no less interested in music than we are now, with music considered to be at the heart of Shakespeare’s artistic vision. Of course our offerings have come a long way since Shakespeare's day, but we think it is a shame that they never had a chance to hear the musical delights of Katy Perry or Slipknot.
Focus Features has unleashed the second global trailer for Fifty Shades of Grey. The video embedded above offers fans glimpses of Dakota JohnsonplayingAnastasia Steele and Jamie DornanplayingChristian Grey.
The third trailer for Baz Luhrmann‘s adaptation of The Great Gatsby has been released, showing off the movie’s crowded soundtrack. The film will feature songs by Beyonce, Jay-Z, Kanye West and Lana Del Ray–Spotify has a free playlist of the songs.
Much has been written about the music in the new trailer, but nobody has mentioned how a famous green light shines throughout the trailer.
We won’t spoil the plot for you, but a green light at the end of a dock plays a major symbolic role in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel. If you want to find out more about the green light, follow this simple Google search.

This week, I'm posting Beyonce's official "Run the World (Girls)" video. I must say, it's...different. The song is catchy and it gets your body moving. Plus, it's all about girl power...and I'm all for girl power. I'm still trying to figure out if I like it, though. Both the video and the song are getting mixed reviews.
I heart Beyonce. She's majorly talented (and gorgeous). I do believe she has a lot of haters in the midst, but whatever. Hate if you must, but the girl is talented. And loved. And did I say gorgeous? She represents Houston, TX well! One thing I can say, one of my life's mission is to be able to dance like these women in the video. To be able to move my body like them would be so awesome! I'm going to start working on it now. In my room. Alone. Away from public speculation. That way, the only ones who'll see me make a fool out of myself will be my stuffed animals. And I've already sworn them to secrecy.
So anyway, what do you think? Does B have another hit? Is her video hit or miss?

I do have to say that I do love Beyonce. She becomes a beast (in a good way) when performing. I love the post-apocalyptic style of the video. Thanks for posting this, I hardly ever watch Mtv and never look for new music vids. I love Tickle Me Tuesday.
Thanks! And Beyonce is a beast! That girl works her butt off in performing. I love B. I think the song itself is slowly growing on me. I respect her for having the courage to try something different from what she normlly does. And yeah it does have that element...the girls standing up to the man. And Pat Benatar is awesome.

A few Christmases ago, my husband gave me this book. It was probably my favorite gift of the year. In case you did not know, I am one of the world's biggest Beyonce fans. If we could meet, I am pretty sure that we would be best friends.
So imagine my joy when I learned that Miss B is getting her very own comic book! Honey, if you are reading this, think FAME for Christmas!
PS: Did you know that the same publisher also has Mark Zuckerberg, Betty White, Bill Clinton and Lady Gaga biography-comics?! And those names are just the tip of the iceberg. If someone in your family has a particular love for a pop culture or political icon, BlueWater Productions could be a great stop for stocking stuffers. And no, I promise this is really not a commercial :)

A few weeks ago, we were joined by two wonderful new publicity assistants, Nick and Bobby. Now that they’re settled in, I decided it was time to harass properly introduce them to you. Hopefully this (incredibly interesting) Q&A will show how lucky we are to have them on board.
Do you speak (or pretend to speak) any other languages?
Nick: Yes, Farsi. My parents were born and raised in Iran. They came to the US to continue their studies at college. They met here in the States and a few years later I entered the picture. My first language was, in fact, Farsi. I grew up in a house where my parents and grandparents both spoke to me in Farsi. I did not learn English until I was in early elementary school. Looking back, this now explains so much…
Bobby: I studied Spanish up until sophomore year of college, but I can’t really call what I do with the language “speaking” it. I also studied some Japanese when I studied abroad, and I can now ask where the train station is, I think.
What is your favorite book that was not originally published in English?
Nick: War and Peace. I read it for the first time a few years back after my brother continuously insisted on my commitment to finishing the behemoth of a book. Finally, I gave in and I am now forever indebted to him. This book is my bible and is undoubtedly this best piece of literature ever created. It is both a beautiful story as well as a deep philosophical piece that proves to be a perpetually modern novel that will never lose its relevance in society. This is the only intellectual answer I will provide, promise.
Bobby: Labyrinths by Borges, which might not count since it’s a collection of short stories. No other author has inspired so many moments of disturbed awe and wonder for me. I like when a book freaks me out enough that I have to leave the room.
Fill in the blank: Don’t stop _____________. a) believing b) ’til you get enough c) the music
Nick: ’til you get enough.
Bobby: Believing, duh.
What’s your favorite viral video?
Nick: Does Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” video count?

What is up with the ridiculous stereotypes these days? People are just making things up like “all black people look alike”. That is a damn lie because if all black people looked alike everyone would be waking up to a Beyonce or a Denzel Washington. Do not get me wrong; there are some sexy black people other than Beyonce and Denzel but wouldn’t it be nice. I am just tired of all of the stereo types lingering around and even children are making fun of others. Another one is all black people love chicken. “I in fact hate chicken. I have never eaten a piece of chicken in a while and I am a mixed black guy. I searched and came across some pretty interesting stereotypes.
Check these out!
Italians, Spaniards, Latino-Americans: hot tempered, high sex drives, possibly “prone to crime or violence”
Jews: money-grubbing, excessively influential in the world for some reason, conspiring, conniving
Greeks: can’t trust them, slick, business cheats, restaurant owners
Muslims (not an ethnicity/race but still stereotypes going on about them): possibly disloyal (esp. nowadays in America), possibly radicals or terrorists, can’t be trusted, always covering their face,
