1. "Tiny Dancer" by Linda T Snider Ward, Louisiana artist

Tiny Dancer is an ACEO or "Artist, Cards, Editions, Originals" and the only rule for them is that they're 2.5" x 3.5". ACEO's can be any medium but just need to be that size. There are lots of ACEO sites. More of my artwork can be seen on my website and my Etsy shop

If you're a watercolorist or just someone who likes dappling in watercolor, and you would like to join this site and share your work, send me a link to your blog or website in a comment, and I'll add you to the site.

4. Owls by popular demand

Remember way back, oh so long ago, when I was in the middle of my 30/30 project? Ha! Long time ago, right? Seems like it, maybe but actually it really was not that long ago at all. But look, it sure feels like I've come a long way since then. The whole project really reinvigorated me in some very important ways. One of those ways was that it was a big-time catalyst for me to start rethinking the way I've been doing some things and not doing some things. One direct result from this whole Big Think is have I reopened my Etsy shop! The 30/30 project was a big support towards that goal, since it helped me to begin to initially repopulate my shop with new and fresh inventory.

Well, I'm happy to report that I have been keeping up the momentum! I've been seriously stepping up my Etsy shop and will continue to do so. I've been adding new products daily or almost-daily, working to improve different aspects of the overall shopping experience. In general, I'm trying new things, seeing what works for me and I'll also see what doesn't. Also, I'm listening to what people have expressed to me about my work, what they like, what they'd like to have available to purchase... and I'm responding!

On that subject, I received some great feedback on my Hoots in Hats owls group a few weeks ago. To that end, I've been creating and adding more FUNctional art products featuring my owls, and —YES—I will be adding more soon! I hope you enjoy them. And, hey, if there is a product you'd like to see the owls on, I'd love to hear your thoughts!

5. Print #29/30: Hoots in Hats #7

Hoots in Hats Series #7 ACEO art print on Etsy
I LOVE SLEEP.

There was a time in my life—a time up until fairly recently—when I could get by on little sleep for extended periods of time. Those days are gone! Nowadays, I can get by on limited sleep, but only for a very specific, short-term period of time. Basically, I really need my sleep, or I am simply not functioning. It is as simple as that. Sleep: it's just one of those things that forces me to keep my priorities in order!

On that note... Good morning! Tired yet?

6. Print #27/30: Hoots in Hats #5

Hoots In Hats #5 ACEO on Etsy
Here are some sunny yellow hoots and a happy green bird buddy. They are on their way to one of the last baseball games of the season. Clearly two of them need a little nap before the game... But I'm not pointing fingers here—no judgements! I love a good nap, too!

8. Print #24/30: Hoots in Hats #2

"Hoots in Hats #2: Sunday Best" ACEO on Etsy

There is something that is just so "Southern Belle" and "Wear your Sunday Best" about this little team of two. Do you sense this as well? They are all gussied up and looking so prim and prop! I think their friends on the left are quite admiring those matching hats...

9. Print #23/30: Hoots in Hats #1

Hoots in Hats ACEO #1 on Etsy
Today I am starting a series featuring these cute little owl characters! I call them Hoots In Hats.
I love owls, and they sure are fun to draw. What is CUTER than a cute hooty-hoot owl? Maybe one with a baseball cap? Or a pair of quirky-cool mod eyeglasses? DEFINITELY stripey-legged owls. Those are, for SURE, too cute..

Saving For A Rainy Day ACEO art print on Etsy

This one makes me smile every time I look at it... there is something so cheery about a decked-out umbrella. Who minds a little water when you've got a cute umbrella? And all the better when it's helping to encourage good fiscal habits!

12. IN CELEBRATION OF THE VERNAL EQUINOX

Good Morning:

Oh it is a lovely and warm day. The twitterpated birds are busy gathering bits of this and pieces of that. All to be woven into ragged yet efficient homes for their upcoming eggs.

I am on the watch for the return of my yearly visitors...The Hooded Orioles.

I have my Oriole feeder ready to hang at the first sight of flickering orange. They will stay with us from early spring through September. The male visits first, establishes the feeder and then brings his "wife". They will build their nests away from the feeding station. Once the eggs have hatched and the babies (usually two) are big enough to take flight, mom and dad will introduce them to the feeder. By the time they take leave in the Autumn, the babies will be teenagers.

Oh how I adore Springtime!

In celebration of the upcoming Vernal Equinox, I am offering free shipping on my three favorite prints from my Art Shop... When purchasing, mention that you read about the sale on my blog and I will add a free ACEO print of your choice.

Here are the three Springtime prints:

Little Bertie in the Garden

Rabbit's Unexpected Party

Dancing Fiona

13. New/old art

In the spirit of "everything old is new again", I've pulled some of my pastel drawings from a while back and have made them into ACEO sized prints.

There for a while I was really into pastels, and actually thought that's all I'd ever do for the rest of my life. Then too much inhaled pastel dust plus worn down fingerprints from smudging my fingers into the sanded pastel paper made me take a break.
Another thing is that they're hard to store safely without smearing them (unless you have museum quality storing capabilities, or at least really good flat files and are extremely careful. I can't answer "yes" to either of those questions, so I don't do them anymore.

I did a lot of shoes. A lot.
(These are Kenneth Coles.)

And my teapots and white china (which were fun to do using a lot of color).

A lot of these pieces were BIG, like on a whole sheet of illustration board. Some are smaller, and done on sanded pastel paper or heavily textured handmade papers. Some were done on Canson.
Mostly all of them were done with Rembrandt pastels. And some charcoal.

I'm putting them all in my paulapaula etsy shop, and will keep adding pieces as I get them printed out and ready to go. Its fun to look at something other than Christmas cards, don't you think?

18. DUSTING MEMORIES

Good Morning:

It's that time of year once again....the dreaded beginning of "Spring Cleaning". Grout cleaning, appliance shining, doo-dad dusting and all sorts of other laborious tasks. I always enter into the season dreading the big cleaning, but once I get started, I find myself re-connecting to my home. I have so many pieces around my house that were passed down to me from my mom and aunts. Old tea sets from my grandmother, whom I never met, as she died before I was born. Nic-Nacs given to me by my kids when they were tots. So many memories surround me, yet so much of the time I find myself walking through my house but not really seeing what's in my home. Spring Cleaning allows me to literally touch memories, to carefully dust these precious gifts that sometime become overlooked.

Now, don't get me wrong....I am not a fan of the basic labor of cleaning away grime from general living. I don't like mopping the floors or cleaning the kitchen grout (which, by the way, I use diet coke to clean the grout as it works wonders). But... when it comes time to really dust the nic-nacs and re-arrange the china cabinet, I find myself getting lost in some of the sweetest memories of my life.

********************************************

I have 3 new ACEO prints listed in My Etsy Shop.

Johnny On The Bridge

Sunny Day In Germany

On With The Honeymoon

I wonder sometimes if I should be more specific about what an ACEO is. I'm sure some folks that read my blog must wonder what the acronym stands for:

"ACEO" is an acronym for "Art Cards Editions and Originals". ACEOs are collectible art cards always measuring 2 ½ X 3 ½ inches. That is the size of a standard sports trading card. The rule about size is the ONLY rule in the ACEO world. An ACEO can be created in any medium the artist desires: paint, collage, colored pencils, ink, etc. There are even ACEOs made from wood, clay, fabric, and metal. They can be originals or prints.

ACEOs are tiny art works that can be matted and framed to hang on the wall. Many people display their ACEO collections in the same kind of plastic sheets and albums that sports card collectors use. You might slip an ACEO into a greeting card as an extra surprise for a birthday, anniversary, or Christmas. ACEOs sell on Ebay and Etsy for anywhere from ninety-nine cents to over one hundred dollars or more!

I love making them because I enjoy working small. I love tiny detail, so making ACEOs are perfect for me.

********************************************

Well, I best be off. I have an appointment with a grout brush...

Until Next Time

19. CHORES AND COMMITMENTS

Good Morning:

Just a short entry today, as Thursday's are always my busiest days. It's been a simple and quiet day thus far, which is always a lovely way to start a day. I am rather fond of days that are hushed and ordinary. It gives me time to see and smell all the goodness that is so easily overlooked in the busy-ness that can sometimes take over.

If I breath in deep, I can almost smell the Springtime today. Even though it's a little chilly outside, and an ever-so-slight grayness has moved in, there is a hint of Spring lurking beneath. I will enjoy this simple morning as long as it lasts. As I know that within the oncoming hours, the daily rush will set in, and I will be off in a whirlwind of chores and commitments.

********************************************

I finished another collage ACEO last night and listed it in My Etsy Shop. It's another in my "Amelia" series and it may be my favorite of all...

Amelia Visits The Ghostly Orchards

I just love the ghostly Victorian women picking apples. I left them sepia toned except for the apples, to give them a sort of ethereal look.

********************************************

Thanks ever so much for taking the time to stop by and have a look at my blog. As always, I truly appreciate it.

20. BUSY IN THE STUDIO

Hello There:

I'm off to quite a busy day, but wanted to check in and say "Thank You" to all who commented on my previous entry. Should I change my business name or not is still the question being volleyed around my house. I've come up with several names that I really like, but am dreadful of all that would need to be done if I choose to make the change. Most people think that I should change and that my name is, indeed, misleading. The overall opinion is that, if I'm going to do it, I need to do it now and make a huge deal out of it. Holler it out to the world!! I will keep you posted and may be back to ask for more opinions!!

********************************************

I've been quite busy in my studio, and I'm off to a productive week already. Here's what I've just listed in My Etsy Shop:

LITTLE BERTIE IN THE GARDEN (4" x 6" collage on canvas)

GUARDIAN OF LAZY DAYS (collage ACEO 2-1/2" x 3-1/2" miniature art)

As always, if you don't have an Etsy account, but are interested in either of these pieces, or prints of these pieces, just email me. Up at the top, left hand corner of my blog, just click the "email me" button. Until I get my blog shop in order and get that pesky little paypal button attached, this is the only way to offer my pieces here.

Again, thanks ever so much for your comments and opinions on my newest adventure.

Until Next Time:

21. Autumn Chickadee ACEO

Chris has to work this weekend and last weekend he was sick, so we haven't been able to get outside and do any hiking or much else for a while. I did manage to finish up my commercial work this week, so yesterday, I sat down and painted up my little chickadee ACEO. I know I haven't posted any art in a while so here you go - it's not much, but better than nothing - I hope!

I'm not sure how I feel about this one. Looking at it now, I think I should have made the leaves larger. I could not decide for quite a while what to make the color scheme. I knew I wanted an autumn theme, but I couldn't picture the background colors very well. I finally remembered a beautiful orange-green color scheme from an illustration in Helen Cooper's Pumpkin Soup and drew my inspiration from there. I'll probably put it up for sale/auction eventually, but not for a while. If/when I do, I'll probably re-post it here.

Next weekend = San Diego Comic-Con! I'm so looking forward to it! I think this will be our fifth consecutive year attending it. Oddly enough, in the past, it's never occurred to me to take the camera with us. So I'm going to try to remember it this year and actually use it while we're there. Although, I'm a little worried because I was just off-loading pictures a few minutes ago and it looks like the camera may be broken. Several pictures showed up black and the LCD display shows nothing but static. How can I get it to work by next weekend? I guess I'll have to have Chris take a look at it...
