2. we've moved to http://watercolor-wednesdays.com

This blog has moved to http://watercolor-wednesdays.com

If any of the current Watercolor Wednesday members would like to follow along & become a member of the new blog (a Word Press) blog, let me know. Just send me an email.

You'll be able to post your work yourself. I'll set up a personal gallery (page) for the first five that join the new site. Sorry, but we've had so little activity here that I think it's time to make a change.

Thanks for all your wonderful illustrations on this site! I hope you'll join me at the new site.

thanks,
Linda

3. Bird ACEO

This little ACEO (Artist Cards Editions & Originals) is an original watercolor and ink pen from a series of ACEO bird drawings. Most of you already know, but for those who don't, an ACEO can be created in any media but it must be 2.5" x 3.5" (or 3.5" x 2.5"). I love to create them and challenge myself with a number to create or by sticking to a certain theme.
If you haven't already, take a look at www.lindaolafsdottir.com
Linda Olafsdottir is SCBWI's July/August Bulletin's "selected artist" for that issue. She has some amazing illustrations. I especially love her drawings of children--very natural & beautifully drawn.

4. tropical wedding paradise!

Getting married is what I've been up to! This is the illustration I created for our "Save the date", using washes and drop shadows for a collage effect.
The scene reflects the moment of my proposal on the same Mozambican beach on which we had our ceremony.
20 points to the first person to say which species our dogs are :)

5. Gardening in the Jungle!

Gardening is what I have been doing! Trying to win over the jungle that is growing in place of an organized garden. That and working full time. Painting is a joy that sometimes gets squeezed out in the summer :)

6. Fishes

Just spent a wonderful week in Colorado with my daughter. I had an art tent at the Evergreen Summer Arts Fest--wonderful weather, very nice people, and amazing landscape. While watching the crowd go by the tent, I worked on some small cards (ink pen and watercolor). I discovered that the ink pen that I was using bled, but I kinda liked the effect with the watercolor, so I just kept going, very carefully.

This is one of the pieces, and the banner above (titled Howling Sun) is another. With August just around the corner, I was thinking about the idiom "the dog days of summer." August is one of our hottest months in Louisiana. I'm really going to miss the cool mornings and nights of Colorado!

What's everyone else working on?

7. Happy July everyone!

Happy July to everyone! Hope everyone is happily creating wonderful illustrations. We seemed to have slowed to a crawl here on Watercolor Wednesdays. I'd love to see some new postings. What is everyone up to? Please share some of your current work, even works-in-progress. Anyone have any ideas about how to get Watercolor Wednesday up and going again? Would love to hear from you!

19. Christmas recipe Completed !

This is a christmas theme recipe I illustrated to submit to Draw and Cook website. It's a very fun activity to do when you have the time. If you guys have not heard of it you should definitly go check it out, plus there are many beautiful watercolour illustrated recipes!

The medium I chose for this was watercolour pencil and watercolour paint. The background is made with watercolour paint and masking fluid, and my bears are made with watercolour pencils. Well that's it for now. Have a great snowy day :).
