I think it's rather unique - a mosaic piece, but only it is painted.

I really like this mosaic look. Creative. I think sometimes the art pieces we are "so, so" about have a real positive response from others. Yes, Marianne is right. I get ideas from the other cactus artists, I also use Flickr email to other photographers and ask if I can use their photos as reference material, that helps me get ideas and gives some positive vibes to other photo artists. You keep up the good creative work, Judy HCM...PS I love all the photos you post of where you lived before and your new digs. Helps to get to know other bloggers.

This is not boring at all. It shows your creative spirit. I do know how you feel about coming up with cactus ideas every week. Not having them growing in our area makes it difficult to be inspired for a weekly illio.

Ir is really beautiful, it reminds me a lot of venecita, I do not know if you know what it is, there are small irregular pieces of mosaic, from different colors used to decorate fountains and also used a lot in portugal and brazil.

I like it a lot. A sort of almost abstract cactus. By the way re: round robin bk pages that I recently completed. Karen of Thread Story was right. Those were pages from Katie Jane's round robin project called Girlfriends and I was supposed to mail it next to Karen in Chicago. I got mixed up as i am also in SoulSisters.

On some cake contest show the lady made tiles out of sugar- I would have eaten them before they ever got used.

He's a beauty! Indeed, cactus markings would be rare, but some of the spiny lizards around here have similar purple and blue coloring on their backs. I once saw a lizard that looked like it had an owl face on it. Happy CM!

Here I was, waiting to read a touching story about the visit with your friend and then BAM! out with 'what if cactus grew in cornfields'. All I can say is, first, get in out of the heat. Secondly, it would make picking corn sort of painful!

I don't know about a corn field, but apparently the trendy new plant combo are cacti and grasses, so a prickly pear with Mexican feather grass. I don't think your idea is too far out there. Plus it looks like you have edible crops growing together.

I've got prickly pears and leaves in a bag-because I got thorns just picking them out at the store. I'm gonna EAT those prickly pears-just don't know how yet.

Welcome to My World....let me guess-lived away from "home" for many years as an adult, now back, and home has changed and you have changed and it's even more traumatic than even moving someplace NEW because it's NOT THE SAME.....LOL.

In theory, we knew all of this going into it but the practice of it is a whole 'nother ball of wax.

Your happy brain keeps plopping up memories you have to deal with as well as the current issues.

If any of this sounds familiar, I lived it to-and the best way I've found to cope is just accept this is what's going to happen for awhile. Remember, memories are just that-and sometimes you can dust off an old one and put a new spin on it.

Thanks everyone. This is really small potatoes compared to people who are battling illness or losing their homes. But I'm pissed and hurt that she'd even consider this. I think we'll be able to work things out so we can stay because I have all of her emails and cancelled checks stating her intentions when we agreed to take the place.
We don't want to live here under duress however, so if we need to move on, we will.
We don't want to take matters to court, but if we have to move I'll try my best to get moving costs from her as well as the money I've already paid her.

I'm glad to know most people are true to their word most of the time. It's people like her that make trusting so hard sometimes.

The only thing I'll unpack next is my printer until I know where my permanent address will be.

Naughty landlady...and poor Bliss having to get settled all over again - and you of course.

I feel outraged. This reminds me of why I want to buy a house as opposed to rent (which i did for many years). One is always at the whim of a landlord. I think we local folks should make some placards and march up and down the street in protest.

Sending you good vibes for the situation to turn out for the highest good for all involved. at least if you do have to move it wont be 2000 miles!

Poor Kitty. Pasht took a long time to settle in to this house, because in her mind it's two houses (she owns my parent's too) and there is a house in between....what a mess for a cat who doesn't care to roam.

She rules the garage and a side yard that the dogs don't go in, and the front porch and pergola. Dogs are on the pergola by invitation only, and she will circle it, trying to get them in trouble so I will put them back in the back yard. She moves outside in the spring, and back inside when the temp drops below 40.

I rarely allow her in the snake room any more because Elvis, her friend, is gone, and the other snakes are disturbed by her. She's most fascinated by Sonny, who is big enough to eat her.

A new comment for the landlady situation. Maybe that house you are in isn't where you are supposed to be right now. Don't fight too hard for it, your real home may be waiting.

Oh-you might ask the cat where your real home is-they know those things.

Oooooh noooooo! So sorry! Dangit! That is really rediculous! Well, I suppose better now then once you really got settled... and maybe it just means there is something way better out there for you. Fingers crossed!!!

bet you could paint blindfolded, in a dark room under a bed, or in a closet. sooo great to see you and HAW pal,nice the animlas are startig to settle, that will settle you too.hugs and wfs too. spit, or vicks, or urine on the mossie bites...usually does the trick in africa.

Mosquitos - I keep telling myself that they exist to feed birds. Otherwise what good are they to anyone and this year they are voracious and HUGE! Like divebombers coming at you.

There is a huge prickly pear by my house, and the fruits are ripening and I keep thinking of stopping and asking if I can pick some...NOT. Last time I tried that it took over a month to get the spines out of my arm.
