He was at a stand selling what I believe were prints of art. Was he the artist? I don’t know.

I don’t suppose sketching children in public is anything like as controversial as photographing them…

Interesting point and very good comment. No I wouldn’t think so and of course sheds light on a photographer’s difficulties. Although I’ve had some things happen to me while innocently sketching people that, as I mention in a comment above, I would never have guessed.

it reminds me of a man who walks by my office every day. I asked him one day why he does this and his answer was “I haven’t found Jesus yet”. Well, I moved to the side and wished him the best. He still walks to this day.

Hi Fiona, I wrote “library”. Just an “old school” habit of categorizing…and he’s a gent that’s at the library, like me on a Saturday morning. I prefer drawing just your average Joe (or Josephine) around town rather than a model posing as artists do.

The only disadvantage is it seems you end up drawing a lot of backs of heads to avoid being seen

Yes I’ve seen this in my people drawings as well as other artists doing this kind of drawing..sides of heads. It’s not bad until most is backs.
There is a way around it though. Much of you do is taking a visual snapshot of the person. Once you know how to work with form you can do it. Like my post Mr. Sensitive. One has to make a conscious effort to avoid what you mentioned.
