1. Smell like Hulk with Marvel’s Official Avengers Perfume

By Steve Morris

Fans have been crying out for this for too long, so it’s a relief to find that Marvel have finally come up with a way for people to smell just like Tony Stark, all dripping with sweat inside a tight metal suit all day, coated in oil and rust and leftover martini. But not just Stark! No, Marvel have decided to offer fans the chance to smell like any one of the Avengers (wait – nobody cares about Hawkeye, right?).

That’s right: Official Marvel fragrances are now available for you to buy, created by Jads International. Fans can pick up officially-licensed Hulk “Smash”, Loki “Mischief”, “Patriot Cologne”, Iron Man “Mark VII”, Thor “Worthy” and, uh, “Black Widow Perfume”. I guess they decided against calling it “Red Ledger Perfume”, in the end. Most excitingly of all, however, is the chance for us to finally experience the age-reducing joy of Nick Fury’s “Infinity Formula”.

If there’s one thing viewers took away from the Avengers film, it’s that they want to smell like Hulk and Thor. Can you even begin to imagine opening up a bottle of Captain America’s “Patriot” and whiffing in the scent of freedom, democracy, and AMERICA? I bet it’s got some good ol’ Apple Pie in it.

The only downside of this news is that there is still no way for fans to smell like Agent Phil Coulson, other than to rub themselves against Clark Gregg repeatedly. Well, if one must…

2. No Etsy for you!!

luclatulippe:

Maybe if Etsy’s “crafters only” business model also applied to themselves—DIY computers made from egg cartons and lawnmower parts, internet run on hamster-wheels, office inside a treehouse—I could get behind it.

As it stands, Etsy earns around $90 million a year off their sellers, who themselves on average each earn less than minimum wage from sales of their own work. *cough* (Slave labor!) *cough*

Anyway, here they are looking like mean ol’ jerks:

In January, e-commerce site Etsy.com banned Tracy Robertson from selling goods on its marketplace after discovering that she had outsourced some of her work.

“My business is completely crippled right now,” Robertson, a model and fashion designer, wrote in an email to Etsy after the company pulled the plug on her account. “I moved my entire catalog over to Etsy and closed my personal Web site because I loved and trusted your platform so much.”

Etsy, which promises shoppers handmade items, stood by its action. Robertson had delegated too much of her operation to other people, leading Etsy to flag her items as “factory made” and revoke her right to sell on the site.

It should also be noted that Robertson, above, relied exclusively on Etsy for sales (even closing her own website), and this is always a bad idea. Don’t build your business entirely on someone else’s platform. And read the TOS.

What do you think about this? Any Etsy sellers out there who’d like to comment?

4. Truckit Fest:Get Stronger Chairs Next Time

Truckit Fest: Food trucks, crafty vendors, chairs breaking, eating yummy churro tots, fun with my friends Brenda and Melody, meeting cool people and selling my Pendants and artwork. It was an interesting and valuable experience for me. I am now entering the world of craft fairs. Note to self for the future: bring sturdier chairs next time, make more mini pendants (because people have been asking for those) and work on building a more effective display and presentation of my work. Definitely make a banner with large letters “Whimsical Fantasy Art” with lot’s of posters of my work to draw the crowd in.
