Wooooo hoooo! We did it, y’all!
Wouldn’t you know, my last sketch would be the most rushed. I’m out the door right now. But I wanted to thank each and every person who stopped by to root me on this month! You just can’t know how much that helped me. I feel like I’ve gotten my mojo back!
I also want to thank all the talented, inspiring bunch of sketchers who joined me in SkADaMo! This year was much enriched by everyone’s participation and cheerleading for each other! You all rock!
So, of course, since I’m a glutton for punishment, I think I’ll do HoHoDooDa again this year. I hope my partners in crime join me again, if they can, they are busy talented ladies! Of course, anyone who feels the spirit move them can join as well.
Have a happy, happy holiday season everyone!

There she is…. the last SkADaMo sketch of 2012.
As she sugar plums herself across the page, let me say this has been a very worth while experience. You don’t have to fill the the whole page but you do have to pick up a pencil and put it to paper.
Thank you Linda for putting it out there and inviting others to join. I know you’ll have even more participants next year.

Hey, it’s lucky day number 13! This came to me while PiBoIdMo-ing this morning.
Be sure to stop by and check out the other fabulous SkADaMoer’s links here.
Oh, and while you’re at it, stop by PiBoIdMo (Picture Book Idea Month) for some very inspiring posts. It may be too late to join this year, but if you are interested in writing and or illustrating a picutre book, think about it next year. It’s amazingly inspiring!
Cheers!

Going from digital pencil to an actual pencil is eye opening. So much scanning and cleaning and tweaking and oy! But I will always have a soft spot for my good old, soft leaded pencil.

The ants have completely taken over our house. They’ve been massing for weeks and we’ve been knocking them back. But we’ve completely lost the war despite so many battles won. So, I’ve decided to admit defeat and just co-exist with my six-legged friends.
You really have to admire the little buggers’s tenacity?
This little guy is a study from an e-book I worked on last month

I’m hoping to put a list of fellow SkADaMoers together on Tuesday so we can root each other on!

The annals of English history report that John Montagu was the 4th Earl of Sandwich. Among other things, the 4th Earl of Sandwich was a heavy gambler. Montagu often spent many long hours in London’s gambling parlors. In 1762, he created the sandwich, by putting meat between two pieces of bread. This allowed him to remain at the gambling table for long periods of time. Obviously, the sandwich was named after him.

RAAAAWWWWWWRRRRRRR!!!!
…………………
Back to playing with digital pencil after a yesterday’s dalliance with the traditional one. Not sure which I like better yet, but digital certainly is more efficient!
…………………
Well, how are my fellow SkADaMoers doing? Having a blast or feeling blasted already?

I’ve been wanting to get into a routine of sketching more, so when I saw a post on Linda Sylvestri’s blog about her challenge: Sketch A Day Month for the Month of November, I decided to do it. I will be posting my sketches from time to time. I am not sure how much time I will have to post every day, but I will at least post at the end of the week my favorites.

King Tut
King Tutankhamen became the Pharaoh of Egypt at the age of nine around 1358 BC. King Tut’s tomb was discovered almost intact on November 4, 1922 by Howard Carter in Egypt’s Valley of Kings.
…but I don’t really think he was a badger.

Weasels make the best doughnuts!
Idaho Potato Doughnuts

3/4 cup shortening or margarine
1 1/2 cups prepared Instant Mashed Idaho Potatoes. cold
3 eggs, well beaten
2 cups milk, scalded and cooled to luke warm
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon lemon extract
6-8 cups sifted flour
Glaze:
Boiling water
1 pound powdered sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Preparation:
Dissolve yeast in warm water, set aside.
Cream sugar and shortening. Beat in cold potatoes, eggs, cooled milk, yeast water, salt and lemon extract. Mix in flour adding just enough to make a soft dough. Knead well.

ZOOT SUIT NEWT
Just got back from a wee trip and sneaking day 5 in under the wire. This guy is part of an idea I got for PiBoIdMo, so yay, killed two newts with one stone.
Also, I was finally able to post a list of the fine peeps who decided to join me in this fun little exercise, SkADaMo. Why not take a peek at what this talented bunch is churning out and root them on!
If I forgot anyone, misspelled anyone’s name or any other heinous act was performed, please let me know and I’ll do my best to correct it.
I’ll try to include the list of sketchers on every one of my SkADaMo posts throughout the month. Otherwise, there are no other rules, regulations, themes, daily words, Facebook pages or anything else resembling organization. Just lots of sketching, commenting back and forth and hopefully lots of inspiration and craft honing!
Carry on sketchers!

Here’s a wee bassette character I sketched up today for a client. Now that he’s introduced himself to me I need to get him to roll over, jump, chase things and do some other doggie stuff. I just love character studies!
Ok, I’m pretty much keeping up with SkADaMo, and although cute characters are fun to draw, I feel I need to get out of my comfort zone and step it up a few notches. Not sure what that will be yet, but my wheels are turning. Any suggestions?
So hey, while you’re here, for some sketchy goodness, why not check out some of my fellow SkADaMoers here. Oh, and if I’ve left anyone out or I have the wrong link or what not, give me a shout!

This is great Linda! Kind of sums up the month
Love all of your Illustrations, they are so fun & full of life! Last month was so much fun, do you mind if we join you again for December? Please keep us posted is you create a badge.
LINDA! LINDA! LINDA! Thank you so much for bringing us together for this challenge. 29 days (missed #1!) and filled to the brim with joy! Sketching is the first and last thing I want to do every day. Hope I can manage to keep the momentum going! Hail Linda! I’m your new biggest fan!
Congrats! I loved your inspiring sketches every day. They helped to keep me going. I was able to make it every day, although some sketches will never get to be seen by anyone but me
I did it though and I am so happy and proud of myself. I will have to look into this HoHoDooDa. No school for Dec so I might have more free time
Thanks Linda!
I won’t be participating in HoHoDooDa, but I might have to promote it on my blog because I love that 2011 elf so much! Anyway, SkADaMo has been really inspiring for me and it helped me learn about myself. Thanks for inspiring us all. Happy Christmas!
Well Done: congratulations!
Thanks Kelli! I really enjoyed all your sketches too! If you’re up for it, it would be great to have y’all for HoHoDooDa!
I am YOUR biggest fan! I adored all your sketches and your witty repartee! I’m hoping to keep it up all year round too. Hoping continuing into December with HoHoDooDa helps! Join the fun!
Congrats to you Loni and thank you! Come join the fun, some more!
Thanks so much Joanne! So glad this month has been inspiring. It really jump-started me as well! Thanks for promoting! Happy Holidays to you!!!
Oh No! I never thought about what I was putting my pencil, eraser and sketch pad through!! You mean they have feelings and come to life when I’m not looking? tee-hee…this is so funny. Linda, thanks for the fun this month and yes I would like to try HoHoDooDaDay too. Just for the inspiration from you and your very talented followers and friends. I posted my final batch of sketches just a few minutes ago. This has been so much delight and motivation. You’ve created a grand sense of community.
