This book is on my "to be reviewed" list. I think it's interesting that you felt something was missing emotionally. I found the book very funny, and I loved the illustrations, but I'm not sure I felt emotionally satisfied in the end either. At the very least, I felt like the ending was somewhat predictable. But your review makes me want to read it again to see how I feel.
Katie, if after reading it you still find there was something more than the ending at question, let me know. I gave it several readings and I just couldn't put my finger on it.
