I know! What is up with all the steamy scenes? I haven't read the book - it made me think it was all about sexy times. But still, the trailer was posh.
I've been gathering trailers as they appear across the web, but I hadn't found time to post them yet. Since I'm still trying to get back in the swing of things, I thought today would be a good day to share several trailers for new or upcoming releases.

The Iron Knight (Iron Fey #4) by Julie Kagawa: This is a great trailer for a great book. I read it a while back and this absolutely captures the adventure and the intrigue and the darkness of the story. It's so professional too! It looks like a movie or game trailer. I do wish there were voiceovers instead of just type though -- I'm a fan of voiceovers, and who doesn't want to hear Ash's voice? Exactly. But what really seals the deal is Grim at the end. I love me some Grim.

Dark Eden by Patrick Carman: I'm really excited to read this one -- especially after watching the trailer. How chilling was that? Those look like torture chambers! And who is the creepy old man that keeps flashing across the screen? I think this definitely conveys the tone of the book. I got chills a few times. The only thing I would change is once again to have voiceovers! Voiceovers make a trailer.

Legend by Marie Lu: Yay voiceovers! I love the back and forth between the two points-of-view in the trailer -- I hope the book alternates as well. I also love the very sterile and foreboding images of the "Republic". It definitely gives you a sense of the dystopian element. And mad props to Marie Lu for giving us a fierce female soldier,

This trailer for The Apothecary by Maile Meloy is just as gorgeous and intriguing as the book itself.
There are several different trailers for Variant by Robison Wells. This one makes it sound kind of like Divergent with the different factions, but set in an academy environment. Intriguing nonetheless!
And for fairytale lovers like me (high five!), there is a new television series coming to ABC called Once Upon a Time. I thought I'd add this preview in our Trailer Tuesday post because it sounds to be right up a fairytale lover's alley. I'm hoping it's done well.

Our first Trailer Tuesday post features the highly anticipated fourth book in Julie Kagawa's epic Iron Fey series, The Iron Knight.

I’m still celebrating the publication of my picture book, PRAIRIE STORMS, by creating another video. This time, I attended the AETN-PBS Family Day event in Conway, AR, where I talked with parents and kids about reading and books. I invited the kids to be “You Tube” Stars by answering a simple question: What is a Rainbow?

More Than One Book Trailer?

Most authors make a book trailer and stop. This is my third book trailer for PRAIRIE STORMS, and I plan more. This chapter explains why multiple videos are a great idea.
More than one book trailer? Does this question surprise you? You’re unsure about doing one video, much less a couple. Should you really think about more than one book trailer for your book? Yes. Here’s why.
Networking: Like every other social media, it’s your network that counts. And networks grow when you post regular content to keep them coming back. You may want a series of trailers spread out over several months, so viewers – and readers – have reasons to come back often.
Short Life of a Video: In May 2010, Jay Yarow and Kamelia Angelova reported that the shelf life of a video is very short. Half the viewers of a YouTube.com video come in the first six days. 75% of the viewers are within the first 20 days. Of course, there’s going to be a long tail, in which your video gets a few hits/day for a long time. But if you want a high level of sustained interest, you might want to consider a series of videos, distributed 1-3 weeks apart.
There is precedence in the online world for multiple marketing messages. Often marketers use an auto-responder to set up a series of messages which are automatically sent to an email list at specified intervals. For example, you might sign up for an camera site’s newsletter because they promise to send a series of three tutorials on taking portraits with a digital camera. You sign up and get your first issue of the newsletter right away, along with a second email that contains the first tutorial. The second and third tutorials turn up at one week intervals. These automated deliveries are via an auto-responder.
The idea behind auto-responder messages is to build your audience’s trust in your ability to offer something valuable on a long term basis.

SUMMARY OF BOOK This book is a colorfully illustrated collection of thirty-four witty poems including a haiku about dogs and their antics. It includes such poems as: Lottie on a walk, a garbage eating pooch, a bubble catching dog named Petunia, a dog from the pound, Houdini the escape artist, and a dog peeing on the morning paper. These poems are told through the dog’s perspective. Such as in Circling Poem 2 Coco Circling on the Rug the words are in the form of a circle so the reader can experience what Coco does trying to get comfortable on a rug.
REVIEW EXCERPT(S) “Starred Review. Grade 1–5—This follow-up to A Curious Collection of Cats (Tricycle, 2009) is dazzling indeed. Each of the 34 poems features a different animal, most of them engaged in true dog behavior. From farting in the car to wheezing and snoring while sleeping, these pups are funny and lovable even when they're being annoying. The verses and the book's design are beautifully matched. In "Emmett's Ode to His Tennis Ball," the text is enclosed in a circle held firmly in the dog's mouth. It begins, "Slobbery, sloppy, slimy, sphere—oh, tennis ball, I hold you dear…." Like the poems, the pictures are funny and dynamic. The pages are definitely full, yet careful use of color, typeface, and detail means they never look chaotic.
