1. Trailer Thursday: Extended Edition

I've been gathering trailers as they appear across the web, but I hadn't found time to post them yet. Since I'm still trying to get back in the swing of things, I thought today would be a good day to share several trailers for new or upcoming releases.

Coming October 25, 2011

The Iron Knight (Iron Fey #4) by Julie Kagawa: This is a great trailer for a great book. I read it a while back and this absolutely captures the adventure and the intrigue and the darkness of the story. It's so professional too! It looks like a movie or game trailer. I do wish there were voiceovers instead of just type though -- I'm a fan of voiceovers, and who doesn't want to hear Ash's voice? Exactly. But what really seals the deal is Grim at the end. I love me some Grim.

What do you think? Are you excited for this continuation of Ash's story? (You can also check out this Behind the Scenes video of the Iron Knight cover shoot!)

Coming November 1, 2011

Dark Eden by Patrick Carman: I'm really excited to read this one -- especially after watching the trailer. How chilling was that? Those look like torture chambers! And who is the creepy old man that keeps flashing across the screen? I think this definitely conveys the tone of the book. I got chills a few times. The only thing I would change is once again to have voiceovers! Voiceovers make a trailer.

What do you think? Have you checked out the nifty Dark Eden app?

Coming November 29, 2011

Legend by Marie Lu: Yay voiceovers! I love the back and forth between the two points-of-view in the trailer -- I hope the book alternates as well. I also love the very sterile and foreboding images of the "Republic". It definitely gives you a sense of the dystopian element. And mad props to Marie Lu for giving us a fierce female soldier,

2. Trailer Thursday: The Day Before by Lisa Schroeder

The Day Before by Lisa Schroeder

In Stores Now!

Amber’s life is spinning out of control. All she wants is to turn up the volume on her iPod until all of the demands of family and friends fade away. So she sneaks off to the beach to spend a day by herself.

Then Amber meets Cade. Their attraction is instant, and Amber can tell he’s also looking for an escape. Together they decide to share a perfect day: no pasts, no fears, no regrets.

The more time that Amber spends with Cade, the more she’s drawn to him. And the more she’s troubled by his darkness. Because Cade’s not just living in the now—he’s living each moment like it’s his last.

If you've read my review, you know I loved this book. This trailer really captures its essence -- the value of simple moments, the way some days stand out in our minds like a black and white photograph. It perfectly reflects the book's beauty and romance, as well as its sadness, and the simplicity befits Lisa Schroeder's sparse, elegant verse.

Does this trailer make you want to read The Day Before? Have you already read it? Do you think the trailer does it justice?

3. Trailer Thursday: Hourglass by Myra McEntire

In Stores Now!

I really like this trailer. It's so dramatic, and fits the tone of the book. The images in the middle may seem random, but if you read the book they'll make perfect sense ;) I also never fully appreciated the tagline "one hour to rewrite the past" until seeing the way they employed it in the trailer, but this time it gave me chills. I would have loved to hear Emerson do voice-overs with her signature snark, though. I also accidentally turned my Pandora radio on just as I started watching the trailer, so I thought "Your Song" from Moulin Rouge was the background music -- and it actually worked really well, so now I kind of wish they'd used it haha.

If this isn't enough to convince you Myra McEntire's newly released debut is a must-read, you can also check out my review!

Have you read Hourglass? Are you planning to? What do you think of the trailer?

4. Trailer Thursday: Enclave by Ann Aguirre

I recently reviewed Enclave by Ann Aguirre, but I just discovered the trailer. Take a look:

I'm impressed. This has such a professional, cinematic feel. Plus, it DEFINITELY captures the eeriness and intensity of life in the enclave -- with some sexual tension to boot.

What do you think? Does this make you want to read the book?

5. Trailer Thursday: Divergent by Veronica Roth

The trailer debuted on EW.com on Monday, and Divergent hit shelves on Tuesday! If you've read my review, you know I LOVED this book. It was amazing, y'all. As for the trailer -- I love the dramatic music, and the contrast between the muted, metallic colors and the vibrant fire. I think the captioning is very dramatic, but this is such an action-packed book that I would have loved to see some action in the trailer! If you've read the book -- do you think this trailer does it justice? If you haven't (what are you waiting for?!) -- does this trailer make you want to read it?

Divergent is in stores now -- and it's a must-read!

PS -- By the way, I'm sorry the Cornucopia of Dystopia winners haven't been announced yet. I have been COVERED UP with finals, guys. But that all ends TOMORROW (woot!), so I will be back in business after 5 pm and the winners will go up before the weekend is over, I promise. Thanks for bearing with me -- I know a lot of you are college/high school students too, so you know how this time of year is O_O

6. Trailer Thursday: Where She Went (If I Stay #2) by Gayle Forman

Coming April 5, 2011!

HERE THERE BE SPOILERS if you haven't read If I Stay!!!

I just read If I Stay for the first time a few days ago (review coming soon), so now I'm pining for Where She Went just like the rest of the bookish world! This trailer is stunning. I LOVE that it includes those lines from the end of If I Stay. They were powerful on the page, but it gave me chills to hear them spoken. I'm kind of depressed that Mia left....but according to Lori at Pure Imagination, that doesn't stop the novel from being as incredible as the first. I can't wait to see what the magnificently talented Gayle Forman has left up her sleeve!

What do you think of this trailer? Are you excited for Where She Went? Are you in love with Adam like I am? ;)
