In remembrance. This page from my Grandfather, artist and author, Geoffrey Squire, lists the battles he endured and survived as the driver of pair of horses in WW1,delivering munitions to the front and return with his dead compatriots. Utterly chilling.
How could this have possibly survived the horrors. He never spoke of it and we only found this extraordinary testament after he died in 1989.

Huge herd of deer beneath the ancient oaks in Stock Gaylard on my way back from Sturminster Newton just now. They suddenly all fled, as a big buck hare ran towards them, all black and white tipped ears, a heron slowly flapping overhead. My heart sang.
And what an odd chirping noise deer make, I’ve never heard that before.
