If you’ve ever perused the online web comic community Tapastic.com, you’re sure to have seen the slice of life webcomic “The Danemen” featuring the DaneMan himself. The silent (word-less) comic transcends language through the use of visual queues that brings drama and comedy to the viewer. It’s like watching a classic Chaplin act and waiting for the finale, which never disappoints and is almost always unexpected.

In the video below, David shows us his work process and how it defines his unique style. Make sure to take notes, and don’t forget to support his Patreon campaign so he can make comics until the end of days!

The creators of the popular web comic Cyanide & Happiness revealed that they have walked away from three cable network discussions. Co-founder Kris Wilson explained: “We firmly believe the entertainment industry is changing, and the Internet will eventually become the only way people watch shows.” 

Instead of creating a TV show based on the comic, they will raise money on Kickstarter and build a web based show. Here’s more from the site: 

As some of you may know, we’ve been negotiating a Cyanide & Happiness TV show with a cable network for a while now. What you guys may not know is that this is actually the latest of three TV show talks we’ve been in. We walked away from the first two due to rights and creative control issues. We thought that we could settle those issues in the third deal, but things didn’t quite work out as we hoped. Today, we are letting you all know that we’ve officially walked away from this TV deal as well, for similar reasons as the first two. We’re starting to realize that TV as an industry just isn’t compatible with what we want to do with our animation: deliver it conveniently to a global audience, something we’ve been doing all along with our comics these past eight years. That’s just the nature of television versus the Internet, I suppose.

Hark! A Vagrant Kate Beaton

Do you read Kate Beaton's most awesome webcomic Hark! A Vagrant? because you should.

In it, Beaton regularly makes history, Canadians, and classic literature hilarious. Often with a paragraph or two of commentary that is also hilarious. Listen to Charlotte and Emily Bronte tease Anne about her horrible taste in men. Doesn't she know that drunk losers who ruin everyone's lives are HOTTTTT? What if Ben Franklin's political cartoons had a modern editor? And, well, her retellings of Shakespeare just make me laugh a lot. I especially enjoy her comics where she sketches out the plots of books based solely on their covers. (In this collection, she has a series of books with covers by Gorey and some classic Nancy Drews.) Nothing is safe or sacred, but it's all hilarious.

Her comics are funny and awesome and hey look! There's a whole book of them! So you can read them when you're not on your computer. You should probably go read them.

Webcomics Tutorial – 10 Lessons For Better Colouring:

Princess Planet cartoonist Brian McLachlan offers up a meaty tutorial on how to best tackle the colouring of your comic, webcomic or otherwise.

Apparently, April is the month of awareness. It is Poetry, Autism and Alcohol Awareness Month. Today, with the help of Dennis C. Daley and G. Alan Marlatt, we will provide some resources for those suffering from alcohol abuse.

Daley and Marlatt co-authored both a therapist guide and a patient workbook in the Treatments That Work series titled, Overcoming Your Alcohol or Drug Problem: Effective Recovery Strategies. Their books provide practical information and skills to help change destructive behaviors. Below are some ideas from the workbook which help patients get the most out of treatment.
