July is most definitely one of my LEAST favorite months (too damn hot). but, Ruby surely makes it more tolerable ;)
still recovering from spinal surgery and my hand and arm are still experiencing muscle spasms and such, but hoping to be able to get back to a full time painting schedule SOON!
missing it terribly....
a beautiful red head mermaid named Ruby, just in time for July with her little crustacean crab friend :)
i'm carefully getting back into the groove after three c-spine surgeries/fusions and painting is going a bit slower than usual, but i guess that's to be expected at this stage. just grateful to be able to pick up the brush at all!
i hope to be done little Ruby in the next few days, just in time for the new month of July next monday. not my favorite month. too darn hot!!!
but, Ruby can be my saving grace for the month ;)
I was going through some old photos yesterday and came across this one.
Grace Lin's lovely Where the Mountain Meets the Moon had just come out - and Ruby was a baby, too! Awwww.
Ruby has been working on her hole for a long, long time.
She had a little help from Matty.
But mostly, she did it all by herself.

Look what happened
First there was Ruby, who just loves to dig and has dug a fine, fine hole for herself.
Now Martha has decided to join the fun.
Two weeks ago, a sweet little dog named Martha arrived as a new member of our family.

| When we got home, Ruby was not very happy. She went to hide in her hole. |

Ruby graduated from Doggie Boot Camp.

Me: Ruby! Come here right now! Have you been digging under my chair?

These are pages 14 and 15 of my book dummy. I’m at the half way point, and trying to get it finished by the Houston SCBWI conference on April 9, 2011.
Here Ruby considers a menu change….. to say the least!!
Ruby has been working and working on this chew ring for a long, long time. (This is one of the toys she stole from another dog!)
She finally did it.
A breakthrough!
But I didn't want her to have it anymore so I bought her a new one.
She slept with it last night.
My dog, Ruby, has a history of getting out of the yard and returning with another dog's toy.
She has done it THREE times now!
But today was the ultimate theft.
She got out of the yard.
We looked and looked....
....and called and called.
My husband and I both drove around the neighborhood searching.
Just when I was starting to worry....
She came home with a turkey carcass!!!!
