1. website re-do...DONE!

© the enchanted easel 2013
finally got around to finishing up the website re-design.

the layout basically remains the same. i just wanted something a bit more streamlined and not as colorful as the last design....so that the bright colors of the artwork speak for themselves.

and, i thought i'd add some cuteness by including my little stuffed elephant maggie to the mix. she really does exist...:)

take a peek and feel free to leave any comments/feedback.

p.s. still recovering from neck surgery a few weeks ago, so i'm painting at a slower pace than usual...trying not to put too much pressure on my neck while it heals and "fuses".

3. little olivine...

featured in this lovely mermaid treasury found here:

i love how humbling it is to be recognized by other artists and i love the opportunity etsy provides by allowing artists of all types to share their gift with the world.

as for little olivine here, i am so emotionally attached to this little mermaid. i mean art for me is always an emotional attachment. i sometimes wonder if you have to be another one of *us* to really understand that. that feeling of if you can't paint/draw/create, that you can't survive. that is how i feel every single day of my life and i live and breathe to do it and i do it to live and breathe. without it there is nothing. not for me anyway. no amount of money or anything/anyone could take it's place. it's not only a part of me...it is ALL of me.

with that being said, when little olivine sells, i will shed some tears for sure. bittersweet ones, knowing that she will be making some little girl very happy. besides, she can't live in my studio forever...and she's always in my heart because that's where she came from to begin with :)

such a sap, i know...

speaking of mermaids, i'm still working on the whole series, just having some neck and arm pain right now so trying to take it easy a bit. which is something that does not come easy for me.

4. a garnet haired mermaid named claret....

january's mermaid.

i haven't been blogging (or painting much for that matter) as i am waiting to have a cervical spine fusion in the next week. don't ask...

anyhoo, i'm trying to take it easy (which is next to impossible for me) and paint a little bit at a time, as i have pain that shoots all the way down my painting arm. needless to say the last few weeks have been pretty challenging.

i've had this beauty drawn up for a bit now and have slowly been working on her. hoping to have her done before the surgery and posted FOR SALE.

after that, i'll be taking it a bit slower than usual for a while as i will be constrained to a neck brace for a few weeks. so during that time, even if i can't work at the easel, i will hopefully be able to draw and sketch from my couch.

then i'll be back better and stronger than ever 'cause my drive definitely outweighs my small size!;)

5. graceful little June....

all decked out in her pearls.

this will be the last mermaid/finished painting i post for a while, as i will be having some neck surgery next week and laying off the painting arm. for a bit...

i hope to be able to post some random sketches of cuteness throughout the recovery process, done from my couch. until i can get back to the *enchantment* that awaits at my easel, that is ;)

June is FOR SALE here:
along with a few other mermaids that can be found in my shop.

hope to be back to painting sooner rather than later!

until then....

happy painting friends!!! :)

6. time for a re-do...

of sorts.

i promised myself a couple of things once i had the surgery/fusion completed. 2 weeks out of surgery now and one of those things on the list was a re-do of my website and blog and things such as that. we all know self-promotion is my downfall. give me a pencil or paintbrush and i can work some magic, but the self-promo part of it all, not really my thing.

the website www.theenchantedeasel.com is under construction for the next 5 days or so. i just wanted to make some changes. i'm a big believer in always trying to better yourself (even if it's just a small change). all those small changes add up to a bigger and better nicole :)

here are some peeks at the artwork for a couple of the website pages...

7. welcome baby Finn!

while currently working on my mermaid series of paintings, i received a custom order (my first one in a while....)

about 5 years back, i did a nursery art set of paintings for a sweet baby girl named Fia. well mom loved everything so much that she approached me last week to do their baby boy's name panels as well (and two other coordinating paintings). of course i said YES! besides, cute little animals and bright colors?! right up my alley...;)

below are some peeks of the panels in progress. and a peek at baby Fia's paintings i did...5 years ago!

20. thea and her wishing tree

i have had this painting done for about a month now, but i wanted to wait until closer to march and st. paddy's day to list it FOR SALE AS A PRINT HERE:

it was inspired by a friend of mine's little girl (named thea) who was born on st. paddy's day. is she irish? heck NO! 110% polish as a matter of fact;) and she is actually blonde, but i wanted to paint a cute little red head, so.....
besides, who says leprechauns always have to be boys ;)

speaking of "red heads", i'm working on November's mermaid this week, little Citrine. not exactly a red head, but close enough.

check back for pics.....

21. meet little Citrine....

november's mermaid!

i have been working on her for the last couple of days and tomorrow i will be listing the finished painting, FOR SALE.

she is painted in bright, cheery shades of yellows and oranges, a good thing because this week's gray and cloudy days leave a lot to be desired for.

22. ~HaPpY MaRcH~

well, the first day of March has officially arrived, which means spring is not too far off. happy for most people right? not so much for me, as winter is my favorite season and we seem to have gotten shafted of yet another really snowy winter (which makes the arrival of spring even harder for me to digest) :(

anyhoo...my beautiful aquamarine hued mermaid, Beryl, has been featured in a treasury over at etsy welcoming in the new month. take a peek at some of the other interesting pieces she has featured in shades of the calming and peacefully beautiful aquamarine.

below are some crops of March themed illustrations and their links, where you can purchase prints of them.
oh, and Easter is early this year (March 24th) so i believe there may be a CUTE little bunny FOR SALE in my shop as well, an ORIGINAL PENCIL DRAWING. check him out, if you will....:)
