1. Peter Bagge’s Found Fathers Funnies coming from Dark Horse

Peter Bagge is prolific and hilarious, a very good combination in a cartoonist. He's been running short one page historical comic strips in recent issues of Dark Horse Presents and his own series Apocalypse Nerd, and these will be collected in the one shot Founding Fathers Funnies. Bagge is all over the humor of the great people who founded our great nation, and i'm sure it goes beyond cherry trees, kites and wooden false teeth.

Novelist Gillian Flynn (Gone Girl) seems to be the headliner in the gala 200th issues of Dark Horse Presents. This groundbreaking anthology has introduced a ton of great comics to the world—a couple of little comics called Sin City and Concrete— and it was also the very first Dark Horse publication. To celebrate, the 200th issue has a stellar line up and a HELLBOY cover by Gabriel Bá, an APE-X variant cover by THE GOON creator Eric Powell and more including the US publication of a comic Flynn and Dave Gibbons originally commissioned for the Guardian in the UK.

The 80-page 200th issue of the multiple Eisner and Harvey Award series will feature:
• Mike Mignola and Gabriel Bá revisiting Hellboy’s time in Mexico with a follow-up to their classic story THE COFFIN MAN.
• Fred Van Lente and Miguel Sepulveda delivering a Project Black Sky story about the telepathic cyborg gorilla Ape-X
• Brendan McCarthy’s DREAM GANG
• Damon Gentry and Aaron Conley’s SABERTOOTH SWORDSMAN
• The first chapter of a new GROO tale by Sergio Aragones and Mark Evanier
• A mermaid story by Gustavo Duarte (MONSTERS)
• Alex de Campi and Jerry Ordway’s SEMIAUTOMAGIC
• Ed Brisson’s MURDER BOOK featuring art from Michael Walsh
• The first ever U.S. publication of the short story MASKS, which was originally published in the UK’s GUARDIAN newspaper to commemorate the British Library’s exhibition of British comics. The story is the comic book debut for Gillian Flynn, the NEW YORK TIMES bestselling writer of GONE GIRL, which is now a major motion picture directed by David Fincher (FIGHT CLUB). She collaborates with artist Dave Gibbons, (WATCHMEN) for a story about mothers… and vigilantes.

3. Frank Miller and Geof Darrow are back with Big Guy and Rusty for DHP

A news byte from C2E2: Dark Horse Presents, the long running anthology, will be back in a slimmer format but with some added content heft, including a new “Big Guy & Rusty” story by Frank Miller and Geof Darrow. Previous issues of the long running anthology had been 80 pages but a new 48 page format will be a bit easier to put out, said Dark Horse publisher MIke Richardson.

Rusty and the Big Guy is a comics series from 1995 about a young boy with a giant robot, that classic set up. It was turned into a Saturday morning cartoon for Fox, and ran for a whole season. That’s right, THERE WAS A FRANK MILLER SATURDAY MORNING CARTOON SHOW IN THE 90S. ANd yuo wonder why the 90s were the apogee of the Golden Age of human civilization.

The new story is just a “simple thing” Darrow told Comic Book Resources, which Miller is dialoging.

Other stories that will run in DHP according to CBR:
• David Mack’s “Kabuki”
• New “Resident Alien” stories by Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse
• Brendan McCarthy’s “Dream Gang”
• Jimmy Palmiotti, Justin Gray, and Andy Kuhn’s “Wrestling With Demons”
• More “Sabertooth Swordsman” by Damon Gentry and Aaron Conley
• Fred Van Lente and Ryan Dunlavey’s “Action Philosophers”
• Ricardo Delgado’s “Age of Reptiles”
• Horton and Dialynis’s “Amala’s Blade”
• Tyler Jenkins’ (Peter Panzerfaust) “The Chaining”
• Jerry Ordway and Alex DeCampi’s “Semiautomagic”
• Peter Tomasi and Keith Champagne’s “The Mighty” drawn by Leonard Kirk
• Ed Brisson’s “Murder Book” with Declan Shalvey, Michael Walsh, and more
• Shannon Wheeler’s “Too Much Coffee Man”

4. SD10: Dark Horse Presents Returns! And More

Dark Horse’s much beloved anthology Dark Horse Presents returns in a brand new print incarnation in March 2011 with all new work from Carla Speed McNeil, Harlan Ellison, Howard Chaykin and Mike Mignola among others.

Axe Cop, the off the wall webcomic about an axe-wielding cop, written by five year old Malachai Nicolle and illustrated by his adult brother Ethan Nicolle, is coming to Dark Horse in a collected edition this December. It will be followed by a three part full color miniseries in the spring of 2011.

Witchfinder, the comic series by Mike Mignola and John Arcudi with art by John Severin, returns in a five part miniseries Witchfinder: Lost and Gone Forever this February.

Web series The Guild returns to Dark Horse with a new five part miniseries written by series creator Felicia Day and co-star Jeff Lewis.

Dark Horse has unveiled Dethklok! a new comic from the people who brought you Adult Swim’s hit show Metalocalypse. Like Metalocalypse, the Dethklok! miniseries features the over the top adventures of Dethklok, the world’s most popular – and most dysfunctional – imaginary Death Metal supergroup. To quote the press release

After a series of sponsorship deals goes sour, Dethklok launches a new business venture—a line of frozen meals called HypothermiFoods—in hopes of reclaiming their metal throne.

The comic is written by Jeremy Barlow and illustrated by Lucas Marangon based on story ideas from the show’s creators Brendon Small and Jon Schnepp and comes out this October 6.

Janet and Alex Evanovich’s Troublemaker’s second and final volume comes out on November 3.

As long predicted by the internet, Dark Horse is bringing out a prequel tie-in miniseries to much anticipated child vampire thriller Let Me In entitled Let Me In: Crossroads, written by Marc Andreyko and illustrated by Patric Reynolds.

Milo Manara, Italy’s ero-comics superstar most recently in the US comics press for his X-Women oneshot with Chris Claremont, has inked a deal with Dark Horse to bring out a nine-volume collection of his works. The Manara Library will feature works unavailable in English for over 20 years in a brand new translation from Kim Thompson.

Dark Horse will also be bringing out a new comic Mass Effect: Evolution based on the popular video game series Mass Effect. The book will be written by Mac Walters, the lead writer of the Mass Effect games and comics veteran John Jackson Miller with Omar Francia as artist.

Kate Fitzsimons writes for Publishers Weekly, Publishers Weekly Comics Week, and her personal comics and geek culture blog geekiferous.com.
