1. MAISONS DU MONDE - exotic & ethnic

P&P today is all about the Exotic - mainly meaning designs inspired by a country that seems distant and different from your own. French company Maisons du Monde created a variety of looks inspired by countries such Mexico, Brazil, and Spain. We begin with a selection using ethnic motifs and colourful embroidery, with poms poms and South American brights. This is followed by Palm Springs and Rio

3. MAISONS DU MONDE - vintage corner

I am still featuring Maisons du Monde, the shop I fell in love with whilst in Bologna at the beginning of this month. Here is why I liked them so much - the ranges at Maison du Monde are a lesson in how to make patterns work on a wide range of products and add value and style to a business. It is the prints that add the appeal to these goods and make them stand out from other retailers. Plus

7. MAISONS DU MONDE - portobello

My best discovery and favourite store in Bologna, Italy was without doubt Maisons du Monde. This contemporary store felt like a mixture between Heals, West Elm and Ikea. It was packed with patterns on a wide variety of products. So this week I will be bringing you a selection of their products through my snapshots taken in store and web pictures. Their designs are all themed into collections

8. BOLOGNA TRIP - round-up

These are a few final snaps from last weeks Italian trip. It begins with a series of souvenirs which were the result of a design competition to create a new identity for the city. Out of over 500 entries this was the winning creation from Matteo Bartoli and Michele Pastore. The geometric shapes are taken from elements of the Bologna's historic shields, crests, and heraldry emblems.

12. BOLOGNA TRIP - snapshots pt. 1

I have some more snapshots today from my Italian trip. Bologna is a university town, a bit like Oxford only older and larger, so one thing it has plenty of is book shops. I managed to find some interesting cover designs around the city in stores such as Feltrinelli, Zoo, and the Museum of Modern art shop.

13. BOLOGNA TRIP - desigual

One of the brands I researched in Bologna on my Italian trip was Desigual. This very colourful fashion label was founded by Swiss businessman Thomas Meyer in Ibiza in 1984 and now has it's headquarters in Barcelona, Spain. The name Desigual means 'unequal' in Spanish and I believe refers to it's their asymmetrical prints. Their flamboyant designs feature on clothing and accessories for ladies,

24. FALSE INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT ALERT

A very kind reader brought something urgent to my attention today. Someone has created an instagram account for Print & Pattern that is not by me. They are posting pictures from this blog but not crediting any of the artists. Something I would never do. I would urge anyone following this account just because they believe it to be officially by the Print & Pattern Blog to unfollow it now, and if
