1. New venture

As some IAG readers may know, as of July 1 I took on reduced responsibilities at OCLC in order to develop a consulting practice in library strategy, implementation, staff development, and governance.

The first fruit of that new practice is georgeandjoan.com, a joint venture with Joan Frye Williams.

3. Short long-distance writing contest

Geist (BC) challenges entrants to write a short story that occurs in two Canadian time zones. Maximum length: 500 words, fiction or non-fiction. First prize: $250. Winning entries will be published in Geist and at geist.com; selected stories will be posted at thetyee.ca. Entry fee: $20 (includes subscription), $5 for each additional entry.
