Peter H. Reynolds has signed a three-book deal with Scholastic.
Liza Baker, the executive editorial director at Cartwheel and Orchard Books, negotiated the terms of the agreement with Holly McGhee, the founder of Pippin Properties. The first book, entitled Happy Dreamer, will be published in 2016.
Reynolds had this statement in the press release: “Happy Dreamer is inspired by my own creative journey. I want readers to say ‘Hey, that’s me!’ and realize that their daydreaming, their wild energy—and even their challenges—are all good. I want to encourage kids—and grownup kids—to be happy with who they are, and to be confident about what lies ahead.”
Two new additions have been made to the Scholastic Trade Publishing team.
Liza Baker has been named vice president and executive editorial director of Cartwheel and Orchard Books. Just before this move, Baker held the executive editorial director position at Little, Brown Books for Young Readers.
Abigail Stahlman will serve as graphic designer of the trade marketing group. Prior to this appointment, Stahlman freelanced for the company.

I Love You Because You're Youby Liza Bakerillustrated by David McPhail We have a well-loved, handed-down copy of this picture book. I noticed it's available as
a bargain board book now - which I think is actually perfect for this cozy title. With Valentine's Day upon us, this is a sweet book to read while cuddling. The text is simple, and really does convey all the moods (good and bad) of a preschooler, all while proving to the little readers that we really do love them no matter what. That's an important message at an age where emotions run wide and wild.
The drawings are adorable!
Aw this book looks too adorable! :o)
