He's also created a great version of Cul de Sac's Alice.  I wish I'd known before I took over the strip for a week, I could have used it as a model. You can see HOW he did it here. Huzzah & thanks,

12. Pix...

I'm off to NY Comic Con for an appearance on Sunday. So, in the mean-time, here's a gallery of some recent photos that have come my way... First, lovely shots from Dave Moore at the St. Louis Library event for the Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed Tour... Next, did you know that before pal Jeannie Birdsall became a top-notch author, she was an art photographer? You did. Oh, well.

13. Awwwwwwwwwwww some!

At the Book-a-mania fest in Chicago I was joined by fans Aidan, 3, and Jacob, 9 months, dressed as their favorite friends Elephant and Piggie. Awesome! There was also a kid dressed as Tony (the monster will all those teeth) from Leonardo the Terrible Monster. I've noticed more kids dressing up at these festivals, which I think is cool. You can never start too early for Comicon... Read the rest of this post

14. Vote!

As a kids book maker, I have no place suggesting how you vote, but I do ask that you go to the polls. And on Nov. 5th, please be gracious. No gloating. No cursing. Your kids and your country are watching to see what you are really made of. If, somehow you are still undecided, how about this for a write in? Yup, that's indi-funky kids store Hicklebees. Oh, and you can celebrate the victory

15. A Few Knotes on Knuffles…

Thanks to you Knuffle Bunny Too remains on the NY Times Bestseller list, clocking in at #6 for its 13th week. Long time pal (and producer for the Off-Beats and Sheep in the Big City) Kris Greengrove sends in this shot of her new puppy's new best friend, a (terrified) Knuffle Bunny. Oh, and yesterday during Mardi Gras in New Orleans a mom who had met Trixie asked if I’d every read “that book

17. Pigeon Sighting...

A Seattle fan sent in a few recent Pigeon sightings from a few weeks back during Halloween, and they put the “Awwww” in Awesome: (Remember: even if Pigeons want to drive a bus, they still have to hold hands when crossing the street…) In less adorable news, Knuffle Bunny Too was just named one of the Editors’ picks for the 100 Best Books of 2007 from Amazon.com. From a quick perusal, I

20. I'm Back!

The Elephant and Piggie Tour was a whirlwind that included stores, libraries, schools, radio, TV, and Newspaper interviews. Most stops included a reading of TODAY I WILL FLY! by the Mo Willems Theatre Ensemble Troupe Reparatory Group Company (comprised of willing and unwilling audience members). But, as always the highlights of the tour were the cool drawings and stories I accumulated over

21. Quilt it!

One of the things they neglect to tell you at author/illustrator school is that once your books come out you will be inundated with mail containing little pieces of cloth which you are meant to doodle upon for the good of some worthy local literary organization. They are quilt patches; meant to be assembled, displayed, and then sold as a fundraiser. I’ve been doing these things for a few years

22. DON'T LET THE PIGEON DRIVE THE BUS! (for real)

From Jamie and Torin: My son and I saw the pigeon from your book on a NYC bus parked near the West Side Highway. We told it that it can not drive the bus, and slowly it hopped down from the driver side. I love New York!
