26. CATH KIDSTON - christmas snaps

i've concentrated more on british design with all the cath kidston reporting on P&P this week as i knew our american readers have had an awful lot to deal with after hurricane sandy, and of course the presidential election. im finishing off the cath kidston reports with a few christmas goodies spotted in store at liberty and am hoping all our american friends will be back up and running soon.

im posting just a few more pictures today from the cath kidston spring summer 2013 press preview. another fab print for their spring summer 2013 collection was this retro yacht design. the pattern has mid century riviera feel conjuring up coastal holidays and featured on bags and fashion items.

another transport theme at the cath kidston ss2013 show were trains. vintage railway engines make up this print shown on women's accessories, a summer dress and even knitwear.

here are the final few shots from the cath kidston 2013 preview show. first up is a new print design for boys featuring retro vehicles and gas station motifs and their ever popular cowboy designs. stanley the dog is the cath kidston mascot and this soft toy is a welcome addition to his many product incarnations. he also features on the pet bed and treat tin below. this

and we close the reporting from the cath kidston ss2013 preview show with a small selection of their forthcoming fashion prints. we've already seen the yachts and trains and now we have bicycles to add to the transport theme next summer.

cath kidston are well known for their stylish sewing and haberdashery products. for spring summer 2013 they will be launching a range of accessories in this beautiful roses and cross hatch pattern. it looks great teamed with a tiny ditsy rose on the inside.

32. CATH KIDSTON - summer 2013

here is another print for summer 2013 from cath kidston. the conversational print features a selection of british holiday destinations on tie-on labels and co-ordinates with a cheery stripe. the designs are part of their outdoor collection on bags, picnicware, garden chairs, beach towels, a parasol,  and even a tent designed to look like a pretty cottage.

as i mentioned earlier one of cath kidston's print themes for next summer is strawberries. these are some of the new products on dispaly at their press preview last week which featured the fruity motifs. items included embroidered bags, notebooks, mugs, tea towels, and cardigan.

the cath kidston spring summer 2013 press show took place last week in london. their new season prints were displayed in a gallery style space and featured everything from camping accessories to kitchenware. i was lucky enough to attend their show for the first time and managed to get some snapshots to share with you. we begin with kitchen and laundry where two of the key prints were this

the cath kidston preview show was full of lovely spring/summer prints and one of the big themes was strawberries. this set of four lunch boxes and thermos flask in beautiful pastels will surely look great in the sunshine next year.

one of the fascinating things about the cath kidston press show last week was the 'design hub' area. this was a display put together by the CK print studio showing how the various collections all came together. the gallery was also decoated around the edges with original used cath kidston silk screens.

38. STORE SNAPS - oxford

this illustration above pretty much sums up what i have been doing in oxford this summer as i toured their amazing colleges, gardens, and museums. the tourist illustration was snapped in waterstones in the book 'people' by blexbolex which you can also find on amazon uk and amazon usa. most of the other book and card designs were snapped in blackwell's, a world famous book shop founded in 1879

39. STORE RE-DESIGN - cath kidston

the cath kidston store in london's marylebone high street, has a had a total re-design. the new look store opened at the end of may and the peg boards and belfast sink have now given way to whitewash, vintage reclaimed doors, and brick shaped tiles. if the concept is well recieved it may be rolled out to other stores. if you are in the area pop in and take a look. i managed to take a few

41. Oxford World’s Classics Book Club: Families in Huckleberry Finn

Th9780192824417.jpgroughout the novel Huckleberry Finn tells a series of lies about his family. For example, he tells the woman who feeds him in Chapter 11 that his name is “Sarah Williams” and that his/her “mother’s down sick, and out of money and everything…” (52).

Later, in Chapter 16 Huck leads two men in a skiff on the river to believe that he is traveling with his family and that they are sick with small-pox. “…because it’s pap that’s there, and maybe you’d help me tow the raft ashore where the light is. He’s sick–and so is mam and Mary Ann” (83).
