1. Butterflies! & Faery Realms Party!

Tawny Emperor Butterfly
Tawny Emperor Butterfly
These butterflies love to eat rotting fruit. I have pears that they are enjoying. And here is the underside of the Tawny Emperor Butterfly!  They say they’re very jumpy, so it’s hard to get close and take pictures, but it was cool out when the one was resting on my brick work. The other above might have been feasting on the fermenting pears and drunk.

2. Gorillas in the Mist...Or Just Hanging Around by Terry Spear

It's a much better idea to be way far away from the glass walls in the case of gorillas, let me tell you. Some will throw not nice stuff at you. and this one??? He charged the wall, slammed into it and one of the kids standing next to the glass fell on his back trying to escape it.

These gorillas reminded me of Planet of the Apes! Except the humans were in the cages...

Several were sleeping sitting up. How could they do that without tilting right over and falling down?

My son and Mal! She's a lot taller than me, so she could hitch a ride. I didn't realize how big they were until I stood next to the one. :) It was really cold and windy out so we were bundled up, but then the gorilla house and other indoor facilities were really warm so Blaine became the coat bearer while I took pictures. :)

And for those of you who haven't heard of my Most Memorable Thanksgiving, I'm telling it again! Just in case you need a giggle!

My most memorable Thanksgiving!

Have a great Monday!!!

3. My Most Memorable Thanksgiving Ever by Terry Spear

So it's time to decorate for Thanksgiving, and my pyracantha is also in beautiful form just for Thanksgiving. It will turn red for Christmas!

Are you ready for My Most Memorable Thanksgiving Ever? It's not the kind where you say, "Oooh," and "Ahh," and "How very nice and sweet."

It's where you say, "OMG!" "How awful!" "I'm glad I wasn't visiting you for Thanksgiving!!!"

Yep, and there it is: My Most Memorable Thanksgiving Ever.

Stories that have no conflict are BORING. Who wants to read about them? Thanksgivings are the same as every Thanksgiving. Feasting, playing, family and friends gathering.  Totally unmemorable from one to the next.

So we had to liven ours up to make it extra special. Wildlife included.

The turkey dinner I shared with my mother and daughter was great. We had a terrific feast while my son was visiting friends elsewhere...but after he heard of OUR Thanksgiving, he said he'd wished he'd stayed home to witness all the excitement. LOL

Feast done, now it was time for the funny Jackie Chan movie, a nice fire, while for the first time since I'd lived in Central Texas, we had sleet and snow and blowing wind for Thanksgiving. It was just perfect.

My daughter put the movie on. I started the 4 1/2--hour burning log. My mother watched.

And then...disaster struck.

First, smoke began pouring into the house. All the vents were open!

Then red wasps began pouring into the house!

My daughter is terrified of wasps/bees after being stung by 12 bees at a zoo once--I was the Girl Scout Leader, naturally, and had 10 girls who were stung...and was frantically trying to get the screaming, crying girls into an ice cream enclosed shop.

So she's flipping out, then runs in with hornet spray. I had the vacuum out and was catching the groggy, smoked-out wasps with the vacuum wand. "No, don't spray toward the fire!" I yelled at my daughter.

Who knew what would  happen? I envisioned explosions rocking the house! Besides, we were already gagging on the smoke as it billowed into the house. Hornet spray would have done us in. Especially knowing how much she would have sprayed to kill those suckers!

Mom had grabbed a flyswatter and was swinging at the wasps.

Meanwhile, Jackie Chan is doing his thing on the TV--all in Chinese.

When it looked like I'd gotten the last of the wasps, I started yelling for everyone to open doors, windows, turn on all the ceiling fans. But the 4 1/2 hour burning log, wasn't going to stop burning any time soon! So I was trying to get it into a bucket and out the door, without catching the carpeting on fire as sparks were flying everywhere.

By now, we had a dense gray cloud of smoke that filled half of the space from the ceiling down.

With the fans blowing and the front door and back door open, the icy/snowy wind blew through the the house, carrying much of the smoke with it.

Time to watch the movie. In the freezing cold! All bundled up in coats and sweaters and hats and slippers and blankets, we snuggled on the couch together to watch the funny Jackie Chan movie...in Chinese.

Though, Jenn had restarted it several times as we fought wasps and smoke.

"Jennifer," I said, "are you sure it's not in English?"

"Nope," she said.

So we watched it in Chinese. Then the outtakes. They are always so hilarious, though we were all still laughing just as much about the wasps and smoke and blizzard weather blowing through the house.

The outtakes were all in English. I looked at Jennifer. She smiled back at me.

So that is My Most Memorable Thanksgiving Ever! And I wouldn't give it up for the world!

I'm going to my son's home for Thanksgiving this year! :)

Just a couple of jaguar pictures. In the first, the jaguar was attacking a piece of wood.

And in the next, he's watching you! I was making a clicking noise with my tongue to get him to look at me for the camera. If you catch one in the wild...do not do this. You want to fade into the background.

If you celebrate Thanksgiving, are you having turkey or something else???

My advice, don't invite red wasps for dinner. Oh, and the smoke? I'd had wind damage to my roof a couple of weeks earlier, took off the ridge of my roof and patches of tiles all over the roof and the cap off my chimney (which they didn't mention), and when they reroofed, the roofers covered the chimney with roofing paper. The heat from the fire was so hot, it did burn a hole through the roofing paper, which, despite how bad the smoke was inside the house, had allowed some of it to escape through the chimney eventually. But I guess they also then sealed in the red wasp nest so they had no where to go but inside with us.

I did get burns on the carpet, and melted the plastic bucket with the burning log. Always be prepared for any natural disaster. Hey, the vacuum cleaner was ready and nearby!

 :)

Happy Memorable Thanksgiving!

4. Cougar on the Prowl! by Terry Spear

I loved getting a shot of him looking straight at me, but he was moving so fast constantly it was hard to get focused on him before he moved again.

He was way across the yard. The zoo keeper (might have been Zoo Man Thompson), was checking the fences up above to make sure they couldn't get out, then he released the two of them.

Here he sees something, and he was still for only a minute. You can tell by his ears and eyes and stance, he's ready to turn.

Then in the next second, I snapped another picture and the cat was already making a move for whatever caught its attention.

Really intense. But I definitely wouldn't want the fence to disappear, because this cat would be on you in an instant. :)

They are beautiful and it did make me think about what if this was a shifter. They're pretty elegant. :)

Have a happy hump day eve!

5. Fall Colors Under Water

These reminded me of fall, all the orange and yellow koi.

But here were fall leaves in the water where the fish were swimming too. So it was really spectacular.

That's where I have to find my fall colors. Under water! :)

7. Orangutan Juvenile Playing with Box by Terry Spear

I wish I could have made the fence go away, but it wouldn't. LOL So here is the juvenile orangutan eating from a box. Not sure if it's female or male, but someone who was watching it, said the monkey has worn blankets since it was a baby! :)  I wonder if she will ever outgrow it! I'm taking a wild guess that it's a she because the blanket is pink.

You know, boxes can be the best play things!

Here, she's trying to read what it says. :)

When she's as big as the huge one that was in the enclosure with her, the mother, probably, the blanket will be only a scarf for her head. :)

Here is the momma. She was huge. Unfortunately, the camera operator took a great picture of the fence!

Do you ever have days like this? Where you just want to pull the blanket over your head and let the world go on about you without a care in the world?

8. The Bear...and Teddy Bears! by Terry Spear

First, here's a doctor bear, taking care of a human baby.

But here's what inspires all those beloved teddy bears in the first place.

I had a better picture of his back side!See how soft his fur looks? No wonder they look so adorably cuddle-able.

Just like this fellow? He's just lying around, watching the clouds go by. He is the last of my hand wooden carved face bears. My dad made the faces. He's a 19" fully jointed plush bear with suede paws.

****************************************************************

We had a lot of bears roaming around eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas, in people's trees, tearing down their beehives, peering in windows, running along highways, you name it.

They might look cute and cuddly, but they're dangerous. It's best to stick to teddy bears if you have a hankering to hug one.

So the doctor bear, golden distressed mohair, wearing his antique spectacles wants to know...how do YOU feel about bears?

Just an important note: The proud owner of the golden wizard just received her bear in South Africa! Woohoo! And now she wants another! :)

And, I just had an email from a lady who wants a McLennan Clan Bear, and another who is interested either in a wizard bear or a couple of clan bears! :)  So see? Bears are much loved!

But the question is not  have you hugged a bear today?

10. Lazy Lions by Terry Spear

Lots of animals were very active at the Cameron Park Zoo, but not the lions! Lazy old lion!

And here is a view of those BIG paws! They are huge. Imagine getting a swipe from one of them! In Savage Hunger, I mention how powerful a jaguar's paws are and one swat can either stun or kill its prey. Jaguars are the third largest cat. This lion is the biggest! :) So if a jaguar can do that, can you imagine what it would be like to get swatted by a lion???

Here are the lazy lionesses!

And here is the most active the lion was--when he stretched out his paws. I was hoping to get a view of his claws as he stretched, but wasn't able to. I think they were retracting just as the picture took.In one of my books, I talk about how the heroine hears the lion roar on the wind because the beast's roar carries that far! I lived in Glen Burnie, Maryland and would hear the lion roar all the way from the Baltimore zoo occasionally!

Lions have prides, so he's got his two girlfriends. In the tiger exhibit, I'll show the momma and her three tiger cubs next.

Do you ever wonder why the cats are all so different? Why most run alone, but the lions have a pride? Laziness, maybe? I mean, the ladies catch his meal, and he just waits until they're done!

:)

What do you think?

11. Where is the Alligator in this Picture??? by Terry Spear

I took these pictures at the Cameron Park Zoo, and actually you can see this HUGE alligator, looked to be about 10 feet long, in the shadows cast by the overhanging trees over the green water. But when you look at the picture, the mottled shadowing makes the alligator all but disappear.

He has a massive head exposed though. Can you see it? It's out of the water. Look near the sandy bank.

Still can't see it? Look to the left of the white sandy bank.

Here's the rest of him hidden underwater. He doesn't look very big from this distance, but he was huge and his head massive. If he got a hold of you, he'd say, "Hmm, doesn't taste like fishy chicken at all to me." Interesting how his body was reflected so there's two of him! One of them is wicked enough!

And here's a much smaller alligator who was standing on his feet. Again, the windows reflected the alligator, making it appear there's another one behind him, so we get a shot of his back and his front in one picture. But I couldn't get his head at that angle.

Looking above, here's the rest of him! He's watching you watching him.

Anyone ready for a swim?

We used to swim in a Florida canal until we heard alligators had gotten people's dogs. We lived across the street from a jungle-like swamp and used to explore it. What were we thinking?

I explore it again in the ghostly tale Ghostly Liaisons!

Ghostly Liaisons

Emily Rundle’s curious nature causes her big problems when she moves with her family to Florida. First of all, she’s different. Really different. Then the nightmares begin. The kind she can’t escape. Somehow she has to unravel the mystery of the ghosts who plague her before it’s too late.

Michael Shipley just moved to town, too, and realizes at once Emily is trouble with a big T. If he becomes involved with her, his life will change forever. Premonitions he has that Emily’s life will be in danger forces him to make a stand to protect the girl who’s gifted with extraordinary abilities like him. They instantly bond as the two weirdest kids in school.

Both Michael and Emily have past histories, painful memories they’d rather forget. Faced with dangerous new challenges, they must overcome their past, threats at school, bullies in the flesh, and ghostly apparitions bent on a deadly game of revenge. What was once a simple matter, discover the secrets of the ghosts and appease them, becomes a race against time as Emily and Michael fight the evil that threatens to conquer them.

Excerpt from Ghostly Liaisons:
Sitting next to him, she poked a finger at the screen. “Look for pirates.”
“I thought we wanted to find out about the girl first.”
“Pirates.” She glanced at him. “I think the pirate’s treasure is the key.”
“Pirate’s treasure?”
“Yeah, the wooden chest filled with gold coins and bullion bars…buried somewhere in the swamp.”
“You saw this?”
“Yep. The ghost girl draws me there. I’m sure it’s important.”
He typed in pirates, Florida. A list appeared. “Hmm, there are a couple of books here on the subject.”
Emily hopped up from the chair to retrieve them from the shelves. She pulled one out and read through the first couple of pages. Michael typed in ghost stories, Florida, and Emily returned to the chair beside him.
Reading out loud, she said, “As late as 1823, the U.S. government commissioned Commodore David Porter to stop the pirates: Black Caesar, Blackbeard, also known as Edward Teach, and Jean Lafitte. Earlier, pirates like Sir John Hawkins and Sir Francis Drake also raided the state. In fact, twenty famous pirates plagued the coast of Florida.”
“Yeah?”
“Okay, what about this? ‘September 10, 1622, a Spanish convoy of twenty-eight ships left Havana headed for home, loaded to the gunwales with treasure from South and Central America. Eight of the ships sank during a hurricane.’” She snapped the book closed. “What if pirates brought some of the treasure up here? The books say pirates lived all along the coast. In fact, they were some of Florida’s first beachcombers.”
“Cute.”
“Yeah. There wasn’t any treasure on the land, just from the Spanish galleons laden with it because they sailed up the Gulf Stream through the straits that parallel Florida’s Keys. That’s too far south of us, but maybe they hauled their booty up here to hide it.”
“Could be.” Michael wrote down a list of books on ghostly sightings, then walked over to the rows of shelves.
Emily followed him. “Lots of books?”
“Three, but the main library will have more. These include ghosts sighted in Florida, but I’ll have to skim through them to see if any appeared in our area. Otherwise, we’ll have to check deaths in the newspapers and other ghost books from the main library.”
“Okay. I’ll check the Internet in the meantime.”
Emily logged onto the Internet on one of the computers. She typed in ghosts, Florida and came up with a long list of ghostly sightings.
One that instantly grabbed her interest was a haunted warehouse in Miami that housed Florida souvenirs. For two months, investigators, including police officers, an insurance investigator, a parapsychologist, a reporter, the owner, and a number of employees, observed objects moving or crashing to the floor, boxes sliding on shelves, or flying from one shelf to another in nearly two-hundred and fifty well-documented cases. But what caught Emily’s eye was one of the young male employees was thought to have been moving the objects, unbeknownst to him, through psychic-kinetic abilities.
“Hey, look at this, Michael.”
Michael joined her and scanned the article. He shook his head. “Ghosts, Emily. We’re searching for ghosts.”
“Shoot, Michael. Didn’t we just read about psychologists trying to determine a scientific basis for our abilities? I mean, look at this. They tested the man over and over and it showed he moved the objects. Then he finally refused to be tested anymore.” She looked up. “Why should he be treated like a guinea pig? He did it, and they have to keep making him do it over and over again to prove that he could.”
“Ghosts, Emily. We’re trying to find out who the ghosts are.”
Maybe she could become an activist for people with special abilities, or a parapsychologist, although she might be somewhat biased. She read through three more articles while Michael sat beside her and skimmed through books on ghosts.
“Oh...oh...oh, Michael. Look. Asheley’s Restaurant in Rockledge. That’s not very far from us. Some say a woman must have died during the Roaring Twenties and frequents the restaurant and the area outside of it, but they don’t know anything about her; where she was from, how she died, why she’s ‘stuck’ there. Others mention a young man died on the railroad tracks behind the restaurant or Highway US 1 out front. They’ve found cold spots in various places. Customers and employees have seen apparitions, or objects moving by unseen forces. Many have heard strange sounds. Several of the incidents occurred in the restrooms or the kitchen, though there have been sightings all over the restaurant. One guy picked up the woman in the parking lot wearing the twenties-style dress. When he drove down River Road in Cocoa, she disappeared.”
Emily looked up at Michael. “What do you think, Michael? Maybe Granny, you, and I could check out the place?”
Michael ran his hand over her back. “You sure are cute, you know? Okay, it probably won’t have anything to do with the business we’re checking into, but I’m certain Granny will be game. Though I hoped my first dinner date with you could have been a little less crowded...ghosts, grannies...”
Emily’s whole outlook perked up. He wanted to take her out on a date...a real date. Fall dance, here they come.
She turned back to the computer monitor. “Well, I don’t see anything else here. You want to go to the main library now?”
“Sure, let me put these books back. There’s nothing in here to help us. Most of the sightings are in old St. Augustine.” He walked back to the bookshelves and disappeared.
“That won’t do.” Emily shut down the computer, stood, and turned. She took a deep breath. “Michael,” she whispered, her skin crawling with goose bumps.
“Yeah?” he called from between two rows of books.
“We’ve got company.”

12. Owls Remind Me of Hairy Potter...by Terry Spear

But I think of owls when I think of Merlin and King Arthur, too.

The purple lights and smudged glass windows made some of the shots hard to get, but the top one of a Great Horned Owl was pretty great!  Owls are predators, and he's looking at you! His beak is open too, and he's about to catch his prey.

This is a smaller Screech Owl that I almost missed sitting way down below in his glassed-in room.

This owl's feathers looked purple and orange in the purple lights, very pretty owl. This is a Barn Owl--spots on its breast, white face,   I had to take a picture of what he was sitting on...an old tea kettle!

These two are Barred Owls/Hoot Owls/Striped/Swamp Owls and were in the same room. Their feathers and walls appear like the bark of trees, more of their natural habitat. The second one almost looks like artwork with the striped bird against the striped wall, only he had to twist his head and wink.

Here's winking at you, kid. :)

I used to collect owls when I was a kid. They made me think of wise old owls. I loved them. But later, it was bears. Sorry owls. :)

I used to have an old hoot owl living in a partially dead tree outside my bedroom window. I loved listening to it hoot at night.royal_blue_wizard3.jpg
Merlin Bear

Do you remember a book that I mentioned about an old hoot owl in?

When you think of owls, how do you see them? Clever? Familiars? Harry Potter? Merlin? Something else?

13. Going Batty! by Terry Spear

Vampire bats, anyone? Actually, they were eating  fruit and are fruit bats. The pictures aren't really good--smudgy windows and dark in there, but you can see some detail, their ears, wings, scrawny arms, all their toes and fingers, and very knobby knees. In the top picture, lone bat eating a piece of fruit.

In the middle picture, two bats eating pieces of fruit. And the next, time to rest. There were several flying around at the same time. Notice this one's long finger as he eats an apple wedge?

Note, they are always upside down! Sleeping, eating, just hanging around.

And I have to share this gorgeous sleeping jaguar. It was cold, but if the animals weren't running around at the Cameron Park Zoo, they were snoozing in the sun.

Have a lovely day!!

15. Dragon Fae #2? Hawk Fae?

I'm thinking of going with Hawk Fae instead, since that's what I had initially planned. I think the other will be too confusing, and the dragon fae are headed for the hawk fae kingdom. :)

What do you think of the title and the cover???  I LOVE this fae. She is soooo perfect for the series! :)

I was going to call the next book Hawk Fae, but that will have to be for another book. This and another will be about the Dragon Fae...

Do you think the title works?

Here is Dragon Fae:

World of Fae
Book 5

Seeking to save Cassie from the dark fae, Princess Alicia runs into trouble in the form of dangerous fae seers. A dragon fae, who is different from all the rest, is sent to locate and rescue her. Simple mission. All Ena has to do is find the princess and return her home. Except nothing is simple in the world of the fae. Not when two fae kingdoms are involved. And humans. And fae seers. And all the trouble that can cause.

Fearing losing Alicia, Prince Deveron is ready to eliminate his own cousin for all the trouble he has caused over Alicia's best friend, Cassie, a human she grew up with. But Micala is not giving her up, even if it means taking drastic measures.

And Ena has her own troubles when this one little mission turns into a nightmare of epic proportions.

17. Working on The Vampire is Mine!

This is the first in the series! Kiss of the Vampire:

Kiss of the Vampire

(Blood Moon Series, Book 1)

The motto of the vampires is that humans have to deal with problems on their own. But when Levka and his friends risk all to save human girls, he is injured and so the adventure begins. A cruise. A human girl who is terrified of water. And a vampire who has targeted her for his mate. But she has some secrets of her own.

Forced to take a cruise ship to babysit her foster sister, Caitlin has to face her own demons. But add to that her foster sister's and her friend's antics and Caitlin's inability to use her witch's magic over water and she has little hope to enjoy this trip. Until she meets a wheelchair-bound teen and wants to make friends with him in the worst way.

Levka and his friends make a hasty retreat from Dallas before the vampire elders stake them for getting involved in human affairs--again. But when he meets Caitlin on the cruise ship, hating that he's so weak after being injured so severely that he has to use a wheelchair, he finds their troubles have just begun.

I've been playing around with The Vampire is Mine, Sequel to Kiss of the Vampire (YA Blood Moon Series.) :) I

I have 12,000 words done on this story. It's the continuing story about the vampires Levka, Arman, Stasio and Ruric, and Elaine who they picked up in the first book. Arman is the one who's getting them into trouble this time over a girl named Fiona, thinking to protect her from a master vampire, only she's making a declaration of her own in The Vampire is Mine!
But I need to get back to Silence of the Wolf also!!!
Have a super great weekend!!!

Proving a guy is a vampire for the glory it will bring seemed like a good idea.  At the time.  Until he needs Marissa Lakeland's help to fight the vampire who made him the way he is.  No problem. She's a witch.  Witches can handle it.  But vampires don't exist, and there's nothing in a witch's training that deals with a creature that doesn't exist.  So using her wits, she'll manage, right?  If the creature of the night doesn't get her first.  As a centuries-old vamp, Lynetta doesn't lose ever, and she doesn't intend to now.

So of course besides vampires, we must have ghosts!

    And demons....

Witches and warlocks hide their true identities from the rest of the human population, while three teens with demon heritage living with human families, become unlikely companions in a race against time to deal with a demon threat to humankind in their own quirky way.

Alana Fainot, a witch and half Kubiteron demon, witnesses a Matusa murder his summoner, and she knows he’ll target her next. Raised by her mother, she has no idea who her demon father is. But when she’s pulled to a demon portal, she meets Hunter Ross, half Matusa, half human, who returns demons to their world, but who’s been poisoned by a Matusa and is more dead than alive. His human mother gave him up for adoption, and he doesn’t know who either of his birth parents are. His friend Jared Kensington, full blooded Elantus demon, less powerful than the Kubiteron, is a whiz at electronics and helps Hunter track demons in the city, but was abandoned by his parents on Earth world for reasons unknown. He’s determined to find help to save Hunter. Alana knows aiding any Matusa is a mistake, but when she learns Hunter is half human, she makes a deal—he protects her against the Matusa who will come for her, and she helps find his dad in the demon world to save Hunter’s life.

Often at odds, the three teens work together to stop the plans of a group of Matusa to take over the human race before it’s too late.

Alana Fainot is a demon gate guardian, stuck in her last boring year of school. But not for long. Hunter and the rest of the gang show up when her astral form can't return to her physical form, and she's at the police station trying to talk her way out of having seen the murderer of a summoner. Hunter always knew Alana was trouble, but his kind of trouble, and he's not leaving Alana alone again.

Celeste Sweetwater, a new kind of demon, joins Hunter and Alana and the rest of the demon guardians in a fight to find a new kind of portal device that can summon several demons at once. But not only that, another Matusa has been unleashed on the unsuspecting human world and the demon guardians must stop him before he wreaks much more havoc.

But this time, the police are involved, paranormal investigators pounce on the area, and the whole mess seems to be spiraling out of the demon guardians' control.
And there you have it!!! A perfectly normal Halloween! Happy TGIF!

    19. More Spooktacular Fog! by Terry Spear

More of a view of the fog on a nice Halloweenish day, albeit a bit early. This was a view of my neighbor's yard that normally you can see clearly.

    Perfectly spooky, right?

All the ghosts and witches and wait, black and white kitties and a black and white panda bear? Oh well, they wanted to be part of the plan! My mother gave me the black and white kittens and panda. Except panda is distracted. Hey, look at the camera, this way!!

I had a black and white cat, Trixie, who was full of the devil and my baby for years. So I have a collection of black and white cats! Just pretend they are all black. :)

    20. Spiderwebs are Perfect for Halloween! by Terry Spear

Yes, the question is: Where is the spider who made this huge web???

Isn't it just perfect for Halloween? As long as it's outside and I'm not about to walk through it, yes!

Why does the yard look so blurred beyond? It's not the camera, or the photographer or Photoshop, but we had a spectacularly ghoulish mist blanketing the whole area. Perfect for a Halloween day/night. Only it's too early!!!

Remember troll dolls? See the troll dressed as a black kitty cat and carrying her own jack-o-lantern trick-or-treating bag? I got it for my daughter years ago because of her red hair and she was a black kitty cat one year! But guess who kept it???

The wizard bear is my own creation. And the two little wooden jack-o-lanterns, my parents'.

    Have a spooktacular day!

    21. Making Eye Color Changes on Dragon Fae by Terry Spear

If you look really closely at the eye, you can see she's got an eye on Savage Hunger! I was trying to learn how to change eye color in eyes! I did play around with it and I didn't do what it was supposed to! But it kind of did. :) This was Silaynne's original eye.

Silaynne has some neat tutorials on how to do it.

Anyway! I'll keep playing around with it another day! Have to keep writing.

But I used a different technique to change the eye color, made it a little more visible in Dragon Fae....She has very pretty pale green eyes. I didn't want to change that to a bright green, but wanted to make her green eyes stand out a little more. :)

    Only 13,000 words to go!!!

I had ARCs of A Howl for a Highlander come in last night, that I didn't realize were sitting next to my front door and figured I'd put out the call on Facebook to see if any reviewers wanted a copy to review, and voila! Within an hour, they were all asked for. I was shocked!!! First, that I got any copies, and 2nd that they went that fast!!!!

I'm so glad everyone is having fun with the wolves!

I expected to be getting requests for days until they were all gone. Shows what I know!

Now I've got to run out to get envelopes to ship them in. I could have sworn I bought two bundles of them, but I probably used all those already!

And...I have to say that about the man who jumped into the tiger's zoo pen--yikes!!!!  Was it really worth it?

In my books I talk about the shifters becoming one with their shifter halves, but hey they ARE shifters. So they can do that!

I don't recommend anyone getting that close to a big cat!!! With wolves, which is why I never can understand that people make the comments that wolves will kill people because they don't, cougars and bears do, and tigers and lions do...(jaguars don't)...but you just don't want to pet the big cats. Or bears.

Okay, off to write and then I have to run into town for envelopes.

Have a nice Sunday and remember...if you are not a shifter, and even if you are--a werewolf or jaguar shifter don't belong in a tiger's pen...don't try to pet the big cat. Get a little one.

Or get them in my books. They're hunky and very safe. :)

    22. Dragon Fae, 5th in The World of Fae Series by Terry Spear

It's fun writing a series where you have a lot of characters interconnected. In the past, Alicia and Deveron have had their issues over Micala, Deveron's cousin, who can't give up the human girl, Cassie, Alicia's best friend.

Dragon Fae, Ena, has to come to Alicia's rescue when fae seers are on the hunt. But it doesn't end there when Micala does what his queen forbids and takes Cassie into the world of the fae.

Now, they are all in trouble in Dragon Fae, where some dragon fae are not what they seem.

I'm over halfway finished writing the book and hope to have it done in the next couple of weeks!

    23. The World of Fae Continues...

I'm working on Dragon Fae now, finally. I received a recent fan mail asking if Alicia and Deveron

    will ever get married.

It's hard to say. It's possible, but they're having a real problem now. One dragon fae, Ena, is called in to help out as Alicia finally decides she has to do something about Cassie and Micala's relationship, and that turns out to be one big mistake. Deveron's doing everything he can to locate Alicia, but Ena works alone, and she's beyond unusual. But sometimes it takes a little someone different to get the job done.

I'm still playing around with the cover too!

    Have a Super Saturday!

Back to the fae and the mess they've gotten themselves into. I leave them for a moment and you wouldn't believe all the trouble they can cause!

    24. Dragon Fae Were Keeping Me Up Last Night! by Terry Spear

    Can't sleep? Write!

Actually, some of the not sleeping is because the characters have taken up residence in my head. And that can be a good thing really.

As opposed to I'm trying and trying and trying to come up with the next avenue the characters take and I've spent plenty of time doing that.

So what do I do? Keep trying to tell them to go to bed? Which ain't happening because when they're dealing with issues in the story, I can't just turn them off or tune them out. And I KNOW from past experience that if I tell myself I'll write it down when I get up in the morning, most of the time, I won't remember the scene at all. Sometimes I do.

This is who was giving me trouble last night. Doesn't she look like a real troublemaker? Well, she is!

What I've been told by writing gurus is that if you keep remembering a scene even when you don't write it down, it's not going to go away and add it to the story. But the ones I can't remember were great, too. So that's not the reason they didn't stick. I can be taking a shower and the same thing happens. I can visualize the whole scene (not in visual detail as people's features or the setting, but the dialogue and action), and when I get out of the shower, poof, it's gone. Or I'm driving somewhere and by the time I can stop, same thing.

So why does this happen? Why are some scenes so memorable that you can remember them over and over and over again until you quit delaying and write it down, and others are not?

The interesting thing is that if I wrote the scene down, usually when I reread it, I'll be like wow, I didn't remember that. It's a great scene. Great idea. Sometimes I vaguely remember them, but sometimes I really don't. So is it our subconscious speaking and it's so elusive that if we don't capture it on paper, it's lost forever?

You didn't know this writing thing could be so profound, did you?

The bottom line is that I tried to go to bed but the scenes kept coming to me so I figured, what the heck. Time to write some more.

I ended up writing a record 6,000 words on Dragon Fae. I had started out with 400 words to the story yesterday morning and didn't start writing again on it until yesterday evening as I was adding 3,000 to Highland Rake! So not too bad! In a day's work!

I'm off to type up notes and then get back to writing on Highland Rake. In the first book, Winning the Highlander's Heart, the heroine has the ability to foresee some events in the future. In The Accidental Highland Hero, no paranormal issues. In Lady Caroline and the Egotistical Earl, the heroine has a photographic memory. I always wished I could have one of those!

So in Highland Rake, the heroine sees ghosts.

Off to write! Have a super great Hump Day!

Princess Ritasia misses the adventure of getting her brother and cousins out of trouble, but when the hawk fae king arrives to court her, she becomes involved in trouble nothing like she's ever faced before.

The hawk fae king, Tiernan, must find a bride, but being a tyrant king, or so his people believe, he must find a woman who would help him to change his people's view of how he and his queen shall rule. Princess Ritasia isn't anything like what he'd envision his queen would be like. Rough and tumble, unafraid of danger, and speaking her mind, the lady might just be the one for him.

The princess believes the king is a tyrant, at least at times. But she discovers he's not all that he seems, and she wants to learn even more. The problem is that Ritasia stumbles across an ancient queen's magical artifact and nothing will ever be the same between her people, his, and what is dug up at the ancient fae dig site.

    Old Cover:
The Ancient Fae (The World of Fae)

I had to work on the cover for The Ancient Fae to create a print copy. So while I was at it...I know, I was supposed to be writing, but I decided I needed to take a day off and get caught up on other stuff, like updating my website and all! ...do I sound guilty, or what???

But while I was messing around with covers, I redid

.....The Shadow Elf. I was just having too much fun!
But it was Labor Day weekend after all, and I think it's deserved, don't you? Next, I'm going to work on Silence of the Wolf marketing materials. But you see, after I made the covers, I had to upload them to all the sales sites, and then I had to update my webpage. And then I had to update my blog. And then...well, did you ever read The Cat in the Hat's Spot book? Not sure what it was called, but it was about trying to clean one mess up and creating another, and another, and well, one spot led to a whole house full of spots. It's so very true, you see.
So I'm off to clean up all my spots...Have a super great Sunday! Hope yours is spot free!
