Between eating and chatting (and a phone call from my husband), I managed to eek out this sketch at lunch at Shafe’s Landing in Petty Harbour, Nfld, just south of St. John’s. I ate fish ‘n chips (battered fried fish and fries) for my first restaurant meal in the province. I love battered fish (I [...]

Oh, what a pretty place. Personally I think the best Fish and Chips can be found at Snoopy’s…
Jazz: Here, here! Snoopy’s is my benchmark. : ) All fish n chips meals were as good as Snoopy’s, except the one above, but only because of the batter on the fish.
Judging by the photos, Petty Harbour looks like a lovely place! Your little lunch spot sounds (and looks) like the perfect pick for a road trip stop, and, aside from the batter, the fish and chips appear to have hit the spot!! I’m not a fan of fried foods, but living in London (I must confess) I could not resist the fish and chips, served up in the standard newspaper cone, and sprinkled with malt vinegar! And yes, cod is far superior to haddock, in my opinion!
Can’t comment on Snoopy’s F&Cs, as everything I’ve ever had there was served in a bottle, but I’m sure they’re great!!
