Love the chunkiness of your charcaters, they look nice and solid somehow.

Often when I look at a colour image and a pencil version of the same, I can immediately tell you which I think was most successful. Here though, it's a real toss up, both are equally awesome which is hard to accomplish!

I think I know what you mean. That's sort of why I posted both. I can feel a good "manic" energy with the pencil that I think I lost a little bit with the color one. At the same time there are parts of the color one I feel are better defined and successful.

In working the color image I basically redrew the whole thing using the pencils as a template. I worked up some ideas for the texture on the polar bears fur, the grass and things like that. This is my first solid attempt at digital coloring and trying out a bunch of techniques I'm unfamiliar with, but I hope I didn't have too many newbies excesses.

I love the linework! Especially the B&W (can't wait to see the rest of the set). Are you doing your linework in Painter? I've been trying to get a similar feathering effect with some of the Pens brushes, but so far I can't quite get them as uniform as I'd like without looking stiff (tried the record stroke thing with a bunch of stroked paths, but it just feels wrong). Any tips?

You can get a similar effect by modifying the variable round oil brush in Painter with the following settings (except for size, which should be much higher than this screen grab).

Ah yes the 80's, don't tell anyone but I thought Tiffany was pretty cool back then, then I grew up.

The trees were inspired by my recent trip to Euro Disney, where they had square shaped trees, which were pretty funny looking

Hahaha this is great! Interesting concept tying Hiro to Desmond. What a ratings topper that would be huh? Hiro shows up on a seemingly deserted island, looks around, sees a polar bear and takes off again. ;)

I LOVE Hiro's time-travel expression! Nicely done.

well we don't get the Hero? show in the UK so I cant promise to understand but its a fantastic image all the same - really lke your style.. the noses are fab!

This is incredible. I like everything about it so much. I never partipated in this "Lost vs. Heroes" because I never watch those shows! So I don't really know the meaning of your Hiro character, so I can't comment on concept or how it relates to the topic, but I can comment on technique and it is GREAT!
