Star Wars Rebels: Invading Disney XD in October!
Star Wars fans, this one’s for YOU. Did you ever wonder what happened after Anakin turned into Darth Vader . . .but before Luke grew up and became a Jedi and battled him? Well, wonder no more because the new Disney XD series, Star Wars Rebels, is about to answer some questions!
Set 14 years after Episode III: Revenge of the Sith (when Anakin becomes Darth Vader) and 5 years before Episode IV: A New Hope (when Luke becomes a Jedi), the new series tells the story of the rebellion’s beginnings. A mismatched group of rebels band together aboard a ship called “Ghost” and try to fight the evil Empire which is rising to power.
The series will premiere tonight on Disney Channel with a one-hour special called Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion, and will then air as a series Monday nights at 9:00 p.m. ET on Disney XD.
I actually got to see a special preview of the Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion. It was pretty cool, and I liked the new characters. 14-year-old Ezra is a pickpocket turned Jedi-in-training. A renegade Jedi survivor named Kanan is his mentor. They have to rescue some Wookie prisoners (including an ADORABLE baby Wookie). The main villain, the Inquisitor, was referred to by a boy in the audience as “one creepy dude.”
I asked Lucasfilm representative Tracy Cannobbio if we would actually be seeing Luke in further episodes, and she said, “Anything is possible.” Wouldn’t that be cool? I’d also love to see Yoda in his early days of action!
Will you check out the new Star Wars Rebels series? Watch the trailer,
