I left Sydney at 4 am in the dark to get to Barrington Public School on the North Coast. Nearly fell asleep at the wheel. Not good. However I did make it, otherwise I wouldn’t be blogging now. Ha!
Nestled in the foothills on Barrington Tops, is the quaint village of Gloucestor. I stopped off at the bakery with the locals and enjoyed a cappuccino and sweet bun with the local tradies.
A little further through fields of cattle and rolling hills is the tiny village of Barrington .
I had the delight of speaking to the kids of Barrington Public School. Quite of a few of the kids had seen Monkey Baa Theatre’s production of ‘I AM JACK’ at the Newcastle Civic Theatre. They thought the actor Tim McGarry was fabulous. That’s true. He does 11 characters in a one man show. He’s brilliant.
Thankyou to the welcoming librarian Leanne Simes and the school.
Then I spoke to beautiful kids from kindergarten to year 12 at Gloucester Public School. We had such a good time. I loved the kids and that beautiful school.
CEO of Varuna The Writers’ House, Lis Bastian and her fabulous family drove from the Blue Mountains to see Monkey Baa Theatre’s ‘I Am Jack’ at The Seymour Theatre Sydney.
The boys said that ‘it was great’ – they loved it.
Author and librarian Lindy Batchelor joined us and she loved JACK too.
Fabulous morning with a fabulous show.

Waking up to the laughing kookaburras and the deep blue peacock at my door; morning mist hovering in the valley with mountains in the distance – this is Woodlands.
Last night was pool at the table with fabulous illustrators Leigh Hobbs, Gus Gordon, Mark Wilson and Anne Spudvilas. This morning at 6 am we were walking through the fields joined by author and fabulous blogger Sheryl Gwyther – all before breakfast.
Breakfast is so much fun with all the authors and illustrators. Especially great to talk to Tim McGarry – the JACK in the play ‘I Am Jack’ which is a feature event at the Ipswich Festival of Children’s Literature.
LOVE IT!!!!!!!
