1. Confectionately Yours #1: Save the Cupcake! by Lisa Papademetriou

Confectionately Yours #1: Save the Cupcake!
In this new series, life for seventh grader Hayley, is not as sweet as the cupcakes she bakes. Her parents are newly divorced, Mom is out of a job, her BFF is pulling away from her and her 8 year old sister is a few sprinkles shy of a funfetti cupcake.

To top it all off, one of the parents at school wants to ban cupcakes, forever! (clearly, this woman is an alien). Together with an unexpected ally, Hayley will fight with all the fondant she can roll out to "Save the Cupcake!".  She'll discover that life may not always happen the way we expect it too but that doesn't mean it's wrong, sometimes it's the angle we're seeing it from.

2. The Island Horse by Susan Hughes

The Island Horse

For nine year old Ellie, life has been anything but easy.  Having lost her mother and endured a recent move with her Pa to a tiny, sand and grass covered island in the Atlantic, called Sable Island, she's both angry and unhappy.  There's lots to see and explore in her new home, even new people to meet, like Sarah, but Ellie still struggles. It isn't until she stumbles upon one of the island horses, a stallion she names Orchid, that Ellie begins to experience the healing only a horse can bring to both the heart and spirit.

3. School for Bandits by Hannah Shaw

School For Bandits

Mayhem, mischief and messes abound at the School for Bandits and Ralph Raccoon has a problem.  He isn't like the other raccoons who are rude, crude and socially unacceptable which is, of course, exactly how they should be!  Ralph is the oddball because he's kind, helpful and uses good manners.

6. Sound Bender

 Sound Bender

Do you ever stop and listen to the sounds around you?  I mean really listen?  The ticking of a clock?  The rhythmic sound of tires running over pavement?  When you're listening to a song, do you only hear the lyrics or do you hear the sounds all the other instruments are making?  How about objects?  Do you hear the sounds they make?  Can you hear the danger in them?  Twelve year old Leo Lomax can.
