7. IF: Foxy

I finished my Foxy pic. This pic was meant for last week's IF, but I didn't finish it. I was going to include a long quote, as I've been very attracted to using words lately with my art, but then these words just showed up. The words actually fit the topic "emergency" as well.

Our Foxy used to have a terrible time dealing with thunderstorms, and Arizona has these dreadful storms called monsoons. The second year we had Foxy she disappeared over our fence one thundery day and was gone for two days! Turns out she was only a few houses away down the street. A nice couple took her in, played with her, and even gave her a bath! Through the years we installed a sturdier and higher fence, worked with flower essences and herbs, and sat with her as she shaked through many a storm. Gratefully, only because Foxy can't hear as well because she is older, the storms don't bother her as much at all. I so love my Foxy. And the toy looks like Cookie Monster but is affectionately called BLUE TOY.

Print available at my store.

8. IF in progress and learning

What I learned...

Doodle silhouette exercise from drawing book. Very fun!

And, I love my 120 color pencil set! I can't stress enough the importance of good materials for artists. Having the full set I can soar! Here's my work in progress. It's my IF submission, but it isn't done yet--the rest is MISSING! The tag line is "A good indication you are off your path is the absence of joy." Here's Foxy in her anxious mood. She always grabs for BLUE TOY. I will post the finished piece next time...I love my Foxy girl. With all those pencils I can properly "paint" all the colors I see. Stay tuned for the finished picture.

And, I am learning a big lesson on the emotional level. I am a mom to a big family. That responsibility takes up much of my energy. It is a constant balance between taking care of everyone--as a mom, a healer and an artist, and taking care of my own needs. I need to give myself credit for all that I DO do. And as an empath, I need space to hear and sort out what is mine and what is others. I realized that writing and drawing IS my meditation. It is a way to give me that space, hear myself, and engage in my passions. I am seeing when I do not create, I don't have the space, I don't take the time to hear myself and my needs, I am one nasty little fairy. :)
