Kristin Cast has signed a deal for a paranormal romance series.
Cast (pictured, via) has become well-known for collaborating with her mother, P. C. Cast, on the House of Night young adult series. Diversion Books will publish book one, the first installment of five, in Summer 2015.
According to the press release, the story follows “Alek, a handsome and headstrong young man from the underworld of Tartarus has been commanded to venture earthward to save Eva, who is being hunted by a serial killer, the killer’s motives seemingly centuries old. As Alek and Eva’s worlds come ever closer to coming together, a sinister threat looms heavy, threatening to tear the very fabric of both worlds apart.”

Film producer Samuel Hadida and his production company, Davis Films, have acquired the film rights for P.C. Cast and Kristen Cast‘s House of Night teen vampire series.
House of Night fans, who would you cast as the main heroine Zoey Redbird? Literary agents Sean Daily and Meredith Bernstein negotiated the deal. So far, nine books have been released in the House of Night series and the first title in the House of Night novella series, Dragon’s Oath. The mother-daughter writing duo is currently working on the tenth novel in the main series, Hidden, and the second title in the novella series, Lenobia’s Vow. The novella will be published on January 31, 2012.
Hadida had this statement in the release: “We are thrilled to bring P.C.’s and Kristin’s stunning series of books to worldwide film audiences. They have created a world of adolescent growth against a backdrop of supernatural suspense that resonates around the world with young readers immersed in Twilight and Harry Potter. House of Night connects on a profound level — what growing up means today.”

May 2-8, 2011, is Children’s Book Week. Each year, during this week, The Children’s Book Council hosts the Children’s Choice Book Awards. These are the best awards because the children are given a voice! I highly recommend checking out the thirty books that have been nominated for the six categories: k-2nd, 3rd-4th, 5th-6th, Teens, and author of the year. Then, along with your kids or classroom, go and vote for their favorite(s)—you have until April 29. The winners will be announced on May 2 at the Children’s Choice Book Awards Gala.
This year’s Children’s Choice Book Award finalists are as follows:
Kindergarten to Second Grade Book of the Year

The winners of the 2009 Prism contest will be announced next month at the RWA National Conference. To celebrate Sleepless being a Young Adult nominee I'm giving away the three finalist books. All you have to do to enter is leave a comment recommending a great recent read. (Please tell me why you loved it, but no spoilers.) You'll help me build my summer TBR and hopefully everyone else will add to their pile too! You get one entry for your comment (even if you recommend multiple books). If you buzz my contest by placing a link somewhere and let me know, I'll give you a second entry. All entries must be received by Midnight (MST) on July 1st. One winner will be picked using my handy dandy Custom Random Number Generator. Good luck and have fun!

I'm so excited to announce that SLEEPLESS is a YA finalist in the Fantasy, Futuristic and Paranormal's Prism contest! And I must confess to some fangirl giddiness because I'm up against one of my fave authors/series.
Young Adult
Cave of Terror by Amber Dawn Bell
CHOSEN: A House of Night Novel by P.C. Cast Sleepless by Terri Clark
Dude, P.C. Cast! Can you believe that? I haven't read Amber's book yet, but I certainly will. The winner will be announced at National. I just hate that I can't make it this year.
Thanks to all the judges and coordinators! This has been a great pick-me-up. :)

Ever since I was little I’ve had a thing for series. I fall so in love with characters that I hate the idea of never seeing them again and series allow me to continue visiting with these people who’ve become real to me and to watch them grow. At my library it’s practically impossible to find the first book in a series on the shelf. Either it’s checked out or it’s been stolen (sad but true). As I’ve mentioned, I’m working on a sequel to Sleepless and I’d love nothing more than to develop Trinity as a super-sleuth/dream warrior. With that hope in mind, I’m offering a contest with the first books in some of my favorite YA series.
Marked – House of Night Series – P.C. and Kristin Cast
Prom Dates from Hell – Maggie Quinn Series – Rosemary Clement Moore
Dead is the New Black – Nightshade series - Marlene Perez
</div></div></div>
To enter please leave a comment telling me why you like (or don’t like) series and what your favorite series is. The close of this contest is midnight on February 13, 2009. A random drawing will determine the winner on Valentine’s Day. If you’d like to earn an extra entry, please spread the word about my contest. Send me a link to the buzz you’ve posted on your blog or website and I’ll give you another spot in the pot. Good luck!
