Curious, he lifted binoculars to see whether or not she was topless. Almost, but not quite. But in that top, the slightest breeze is all it would take. Maybe even a breath. The vision flickered. Mirage. Silently he cursed and settled back under the shelter in the stagnant heat.
As soon as the hologram transmitter turned off, she leaped from its platform. The artistic sentry assignment, being visible as a form of art to those in the city with enough wealth to access windows, was driving her to drink. It was another promising technology desecrated by their imbecilic leaders costing rather than benefiting her and her fellow plebs.
The true cost would make itself known in a week's time with the gravely spoken words, "Gotcha."
