It's Wednesday again and time for
Woogie Wednesday.
It snowed today, so we went out this morning and playing the the snow as our "project" for today.
There's a great site that helps fund books for kids with just the click of a button- and it's free! Visit the literacy site to help provide new books to children in need across the country. There's no cost to you! Simply click on the button on their web site and their sponsors provide the money to help fund programs that deliver new books to disadvantaged children.
The fact is that only 1 out of every 300 children from low-income families owns a book of their own. We also know that the number of books in a child's home helps them grow academically.
Click every day! (and you'll know that you're helping to promote awareness of the importance of literacy!)
It's Wednesday again and time for
Woogie Wednesday.
This time we picked out her stuff and I have to say, it's pretty weird! Not real sure what else to say about it. No harm was done to the Maria Osmond doll while making this piece:)
I did my part from
yesterday's Woogie Wednesday today. I took her big head and made it into a big headed monkey. I've been doing some
different illustration work with found objects similar to this. So that's it. We're off to the circus where I don't know if there will be monkeys or not. If it was up to me, I'd say bring them on!
It's Wednesday again and time for
Woogie Wednesday. It's about 9:45 P.M. now and I've been going full force since 4am, but wanted to show a "ww" in progress.
I had several deadlines today and I knew I wouldn't have time to do a "ww" project so while I worked I had the Woog work on her part of the project. She made several drawings of heads and then started drawing apples (with arms and legs) like crazy. Not sure what they deal was there but she was excited about them so I was too. So, this is the "Big Head" I chose to use and I will add my part tomorrow:

The new
Woogie Wednesday site/shop/blog is now up and running. Go check it out and add to her college fund :)
It's Wednesday again and time for
Woogie Wednesday. This is where we make one of my
found object (Junk A Doodles) pieces.
Here's what we started off with:
I then asked her, what should we make out of all this?
"Diamonds" she said with a smirk on her face. She was wearing a "diamond" ring and she wanted something to match.
I had absolutely no idea what I was going to do, so it took me a while to figure it out and in the meantime she lost interest but did check on me from time to time and hand me pieces of junk to use.
The best thing I could come up with was a cat with diamond stripes and diamonds on the collar. I also did a few stitch lines and am calling it Illustration Friday this week too.
Here's how it turned out:
I'm still working on the Woogie Wednesday site, but prints should be up for sale over the weekend if not before.
And, now some

I then asked her, what should we make out of all this?
"How 'bout a DUCK!"
OK. I guess we both have
birds on the mind today.
She starts picking out which parts will be what and paints the head, beak and paper punches random bits, while I paint the background. She them turns her attention to doing one all by herself and confiscates 2 of the pieces. She made a mouse and thought it was hilarious that I took a picture of it:
And here's how it turned out:
And then here's out finished product. more of a chick than a duck. It would make a cute Valentine's Day card I think.
I'm launching a Woogie Wednesday site next week and we'll be selling prints of our pieces, so stay tuned!
We didn't get a chance for Woogie Wednesday yesterday, so we worked on our quick project today.
The Woog received some
pretty awesome hair accessories for Christmas and we needed to make a special holder for them. Here's our materials:
*still working on lighting in my studio for picturesAnd here's how it turned out:
These are all from
Pretty In Paper and I love, love, love them!! Definitely unique!!
It's Woogie Wednesday again and today we've been working on our handmade gifts from the Woog to go with our
handmade Christmas.
Earlier this morning we had a "photo shoot" for her Daddy's gift and for some reason she has started flashing this really sqwinchie smile when I take a picture. This is one I think I'll do in black and white.
*This isn't the photo used as the gift though. That's a surprise.
Then we moved onto gifts for grandparents and such. The Woog loved our
magnet project this summer so we are making a magnet set entitled "Smiles of 2007":
And then I had to figure out what I could make for my cousin's tween boys. Not an easy task. So I thought up these gross eye ball magnets to make. All boys that age have got to love eye balls!!
She has a few picture frames to decorate and then she should be good to go on all her gifts.
We
finished up our snowman and our cards go out tomorrow!
The past several (SEVERAL!) Woogie Wednesdays have consisted of deadlines for me or the Woog helping me measure, paint and whatnot in the new studio. We didn't do pictures of those days because it really wasn't all that interesting. But now, since the studio is done, this is the first Woogie Wednesday and really the first kind of art (besides those 60 illustrations I had due yesterday) that was done in the studio. And, since we've started late in the day it will continue into a Woogie weekend.
Today, we are working on our Christmas card. We're making a Junk A Doodles snowman:
And the Woog is loving her new studio space. Here she is while the paint is drying:
And I don't like to show a room that's not yet fully decorated (hopefully I'll be able to do that some tomorrow in between projects), but here's a sneak peek at one wall:
It's Wednesday again and time for Woogie Wednesday! I've got a lot of work due tomorrow that I need to try and finish up today so Woogie Wednesday will continue into a Woogie Weekend. Today she'll be helping me start my entry for
Monster Mash and help me with a junk a doodles project due tomorrow.
Here's the monster I've had sketched out for a few weeks:
And here's my junk a doodle work that's due tomorrow:
Let the junkin' begin!
It's Wednesday again and time for
Woogie Wednesday! We did something a bit different this week. While visiting my grandmother and mom today, I took a 4 generations picture. Although she seems so big in so many ways, her little dimpled hands seem so small.
It's Wednesday again and time for Woogie Wednesday! today I'm also announcing a contest I'm hosting for Halloween.
Pumpkin Junkin' I had this idea last year but didn't have the time to execute it. It should be lots of fun so won't you join in? All the details are on the
site.

Well, we finally finished up our pieces from
here and
here. Hope the little ones like them!!
Well, here it is Wednesday again and we're still working on the
dog gifts from last week. I've gotten busy with work so we haven't been able to make much progress until today.
I guess we could tack this on to Woogie Wednesday for the day. We just finished up making some magnets. I've never made these before and I know people have been doing them for a while, but man are they easy! Above are the ones I made. Can you tell which catalog they came from??
Here's what the Woog made.
Well, here it is Wednesday again and I think out project for Woogie Wednesday will turn into a Woogie week and weekend for a few reasons. Number one, we aren't home today so I'm working remotely and I can very well bring all my junk with me to create and two, the canvases I want to do these on should be arriving from Dick Blick today so the Woog can't start painting yet.
I decided this morning that our project would be a gift for a little boy and a little girl. You may not be able to tell anything from this messy sketch, but at least "I" know exactly what I'm doing :)
Oh, and last week's start of a
giraffe never happened and may have to turn into something else another day. There has been zero interest from the Woog.
It's Wednesday so that means it's time for
Woogie Wednesday and we just can't seem to get back in the groove. I picked everything out and the Woog was a little (well, a lot) indecisive in what she wanted to make but decided on a giraffe. We did some painting and then the whole project stopped. She got fussy and then hungry and then she needed a bath and before we knew it it was bed time. So, I guess we'll try and revisit it tomorrow. Here's what we started with..

Obviously Woogie Wednesday didn't happen this past week due to deadline and not being home on Wednesday so we did something this weekend instead. The Woog wanted to make a silly face for her project and she was more interested in playing with the pieces rather than painting them so we ran with it. She made 2 faces she really liked. A happy one and a said one that HAD to have a different nose and HAD to have eyebrows. I then attempted to make a face with her objects but "had it all wrong" and it was swept away before by a little hand before I could get a shot of it.
Work has slowed a little for me a now so I can get back to all my blogging. My blogs have been so neglected :(
Just doing a quick pop-in to share Woogie Wednesday. I've been working non-stop since the week after my surgery and I've got so much more to go. This particular Woogie Wednesday has been a work in progress since last Wednesday. The Woog has painted here and there all week as I met deadline after deadline. We finally finished it up today. Her contribution to it today was trying out her new pair of siccors and cutting every piece of scrap paper in my studio, which is now all over the floor now.
The pieced we worked on was the ornament for
Robert's Snow. They were nice enough to let me turn it in a little late due to my surgery. I think it turned out pretty cute! Wish I could keep it :)
Woogie Wednesday will not take place this week due to mommy going to the "popsicle" (hospital) and having her gall bladder removed. She has lots of boo-boos now and I have to be a really good girl. Check back next week when she feels better.
Signed-
The Woog
Here's the completed Woogie Wednesday piece we started on yesterday. The Woog picked out the pieces for the hair and did some painting. During the process of painting and gluing she kept telling me "good job" and "I'm proud of you." Pretty funny.
Here's the final piece. It might be my favorite junk a doodles piece so far. I'll show my postcard when I have it all laid out.
It's Wednesday so that means it's time for
Woogie Wednesday. I'm doing it a little different this time and it will probably be a 2-parter. I'm doing a separate mailer this month for my junk a doodle style, so I'm enlisting the help of the Woog with this one. At the moment she is asleep by her bedroom door covered completely in her blanket and snoring, but I'm sure when she get's up she'll be excited to start digging for junk...or watching Dora.
I pulled an older sketch from my sketchbook to use for my promo. This was actually going to be Illustration Friday's theme "wired" some time back. I've modified it a bit and I've got an old 15" x 21" yard sale cutting board just calling my name.
Hopefully we'll have a final piece or at least a work in progress tomorrow to show. For now, here's the sketch. Oh, and her name is Bertha Mae (of Bertha Mae's hair barn of course!).
Oh and thanks to
Jannie's post, I'm now addicted to Papermate's Sharpwriters! I will never sharpen a pencil again :)
