Uhmmmm...was I the guy who suggested the Nintendo
topic? I did work on it but I was all over the place.
I had some Toad art and some various Mario things.
Pirahna was starting to happen as well a Ba-Bomb and a few others. I
just couldn't seem to land where I wanted which
surprised me seeing how much I wanted to explore this
topic.
Of all the Nintendo games out there, the ones in
Mario's world are my favorites. I almost have the same
feeling for these characters that I do for comic strip
characters I have followed. They are more than just
game pieces. I guess because you interact with them and they
keep showing up in new games with different storylines
and the personalities develop and then all of a sudden
you realize that you kinda know them. But all that
aside, the art is what really sucked me in. The
colorful cartoony worlds with all the fun and imaginative characters
inspire me. It's funny how many weird and different
places you can find yourself getting inspiration from.

Here's my entry for both this week's SFG Challenge as well as the IGN 8-Bit contest. It's called "Spin-Off." That's what Mario technically is, he came from Donkey Kong and rose up to achieve great things.

SFG: Nintendo
This week's theme: Nintendo, as suggested by Jim Bradshaw.Put down your Gameboy, jump in your Mario Cart and remember to post your illustrations based on the theme here during the course of the next week.
Be sure to label your illustrations with the appropriate labels as well. I prefer you label your entries with your name or screenname, and the challenge label, SFG: Nintendo
By the way, I'm always looking for new and creative ideas for these challenges folks, so keep your ideas and suggestions coming in..
Remember, this is a completely voluntary challenge designed solely to stimulate creativity and promote participation. Please don't hesitate to post your other work as normal.
One last thing, be sure to check out and get involved over at the all new SFG Forum. Based on feedback from a large number of members, who stated that SFG needed a stronger sense of community, The new forum is the perfect outlet to build that community. It'll only work if you get involved though!
The next challenge will begin Thursday, April 12th, 2007.
Challenge yourselves SFG'ers and have a great week!
