1. Children’s Literature Project - video interviews with children’s & YA authors

Do you know about the Children’s Literature Project? On the production blog, you can see snippets of video interviews with many children’s and YA authors and illustrators (and some children’s/YA editors as well, such as Roger Sutton from The Horn Book). Some of the authors include Jane Yolen, Norton Juster (The Phantom Tollbooth), David Small, Peter H Reynolds, and many, many more.

The interviews are part of The Library of the Early Mind, a feature-length documentary film about children’s literature directed by Edward J. Delaney and produced by Edward J. Delaney and Steven Withrow. The film will be released in 2010.

I think this is a fantastic resource!

Know of any other online videos of children’s/YA authors and illustrators? Let me know.

2. Funny yet wise video for writers - critique partners

If you write, it’s really important to be part of an honest but respectful critique group, or to have a critique partner. Critiques can help you polish your writing in a way that you couldn’t without an honest and experienced audience.

Jackson Pearce illuminates this is a humorous way in this video–but don’t be fooled, there’s a lot of sound advice here.

3. Writer Digest TV for writers

Ohhh, exciting, exciting stuff for writers who enjoy reading or learning about writing technique (and I do! I do!): this fall, Writer’s Digest is launching Writer’s Digest TV - bringing writing conferences right to your TV. I wonder if they’ll cover SCBWI?

Writer’s Digest describes it as: “an on-demand, online video network featuring writing advice, tips and instruction from best-selling authors, agents and editors like Brad Thor, Lee Child, Sandra Brown, M.J. Rose, Donald Maass and many others.”

You can watch these two videos from Writer’s Digest TV now: from Thrillerfest 2008 and Sandra Brown. They’re entertaining and informative. Both segments mention having to put out one book a year.
