First of all massive apologies for not posting for quite some considerable time, I've been extremely busy of late...
Anyway, here's my attempt at the 'Hats' brief set last week - just managed to get it in. I'm currently doing a series of illustrations based on famous 'Icons', this one is John Wayne, a bit of a hero of mine when I was a kid. The question is, is it John Wayne reading his own biography, or is it an obsessed fan?? And no, it isn't me.

I first discovered Murakami’s work years and years ago at my local art museum. A Mr DOB statue of his was in the Japanese exhibit halls along with a few other works. Walking through you saw a row of anchiet samurai armor, then in the middle was Murakami’s cartoon mascot. I was hooked. Not long after they expanded to a full Murakami exhibit and the man himself showed up to speak. I was a few people away from getting a signature on his art book when he had to run to the airport. It’s amazing how famous he’s become since then.
