3. Can you help your book succeed?

I saw this story from another author:

"I send out press kits to indie bookstores. After sending out approximately 100 kits, I got back 33 postcards requesting the ARC. Out of those 33 who received ARCS, nine booksellers provided me with quotes. But best of all, I discovered that my book will a Booksense Notable for February. An actual pick would have been better but I'm pleased with being a notable, especially since my novel is humorous and BOOKsense seems to favor weightier titles. Anyway, it was completely due to my mailings."

Very interesting!
