1. Behold--the gorgeous LODESTAR cover!!!!!!! And the plot description!!!! And official release date!!!!!

As you can tell from that exclamation mark heavy title, I have ALL THE EXITING THINGS for you today.

And like always, I'm not going to bother saying much right now because I know you're only here for one reason. So go on. Scroll down. Check out the AMAZINGNESS that is the LODESTAR cover.

....

....

....

TA DA!!!!

I swear, every year I think there's no way they can top my previous covers. And somehow they ALWAYS do. I mean, look at Sophie's face! She's like, BRING IT ON--I'VE GOT THIS. *sniffles* My little girl is so brave.

And yeah, I'm sure you have LOTS of questions. Most of which I won't be able to answer. But I'll cover a few.

~ That is Sophie, Fitz, and Tam on the cover
(OMG ISN'T TAM CUTE???)

~ Yes, everyone that isn't shown on the cover will still be in the book for all kinds of awesome scenes.

~ No, I will not tell you who the black-cloaked figure is. Or what exactly is going on. Or where they are. Or what is happening. Or anything else about the plot of the book.

BUT. I can share the official flap copy:

Dark schemes unfold--and Sophie's loyalty is pushed to the limit--in this thrilling fifth book in the best-selling KEEPER OF THE LOST CITIES SERIES.
Sophie Foster is back in the Lost Cities--but the Lost Cities have changed. The threat of war hangs heavy over her glittering world, and the Neverseen are wreaking havoc.
The lines between friend and enemy have blurred, and Sophie is unsure whom to trust. But when she's warned that the people she loves most will be the next victims, she knows she has to act.
A mysterious symbol could be the key--if only she knew how to translate it. Every new clue seems to lead deeper into her world's underbelly and the Black Swan aren't the only ones who have plans. The Neverseen have their own Initiative, and if Sophie doesn't stop it, they might finally have the ultimate means to control her.

Oh, and one more thing I can share. The release day!

LODESTAR goes on sale 11/1/16!

In fact, it's already up for pre-order on amazon (and all the other websites will be adding it soon. Amazon is always first for some weird reason)

(and yes, there will be another pre-order giveaway. Official details won't be posted until October--but all pre-orders count. So you're welcome to order anytime. In fact, I'll love you ever-so-much for doing so.) :)

**And before I leave you to go back to staring at the gorgeousness, I'm going to end with a plea. I work very very hard to keep this website spoiler free, since I want it to be a safe space for all of my readers, even those who haven't had a chance to read the full series yet. So I KNOW you're going to want to leave comments trying to guess what's going on in this amazing cover. But PLEASE keep those comments spoiler free. (And no, putting something like *SPOILERS BELOW* and then including a ton of spoilers doesn't work.) You can have those discussions lots of other place. But not here. My website is a "Spoiler Free Zone" and I *will* delete any comments that include even the slightest hint of a spoiler, okay? Thank you in advance for being the awesome, enthusiastic, respectful readers I know you can be.**

Okay, now go back and ogle the shiny cover of amazingness. And I'll get back to writing the book!

3. EVERBLAZE Official SoCal Launch Party Details

Wow--we are less than five weeks away from the release of EVERBLAZE!!!!

(*cue all the jumping and flailing and scrambling and panicking*)

So keep an eye on this blog--and the rest of my social media--because I have ALL KINDS of fun updates coming for you, including the pre-order swag giveaway you're all so eagerly waiting for, and my Fall tour dates.

But while that's all getting finalized, I wanted to share one event that's already set: The Official EVERBLAZE Lauch Party!!!!  Here's all the deets:

And in case that graphic isn't loading for some reason, here the details are again in plain text:

Monday, 11/3/14
7:00 pm
Barnes & Noble Montclair Plaza
5183 Montclair Plaza Ln.
Montclair, CA 91763
909-399-1966

And yes--you're reading that date correctly. The official Launch party IS the day before EVERBLAZE comes out. So that means--if you come--you can buy your copy a day early!!!!!

As if that weren't incredible enough, let me give you another AWESOME reason to be there. Everyone who comes to the official launch--and buys a copy of EVERBLAZE--will also be given one of these amazing Black Swan mirrors:

For those who don't live in SoCal, I *will* be raffling off a few of these mirrors at each of my tour stops. Plus there will be a few online giveaways during the weeks after release to give everyone a chance to enter for one. But this Launch Party is the only time they'll be given out to everyone at the event. And they'll be given out first come, first served, while supplies last. So if you're worried about getting one, better get there early. :)

4. The Epic LET THE SKY FALL Pre-Order Giveaway of Amazingness!!!

Holy cow, you guys!

We are one month away from the release of LET THE SKY FALL.

ONE MONTH!!!!

(and not even a full thirty-day-month, since February is a weird short month, but I'm trying not to think about that because it TRIGGERS THE SHANNON PANIC!!!)

(ahem)

ANYWAY, since this is a brand new series in a brand new age category, I wanted to do something a little bit special to celebrate the release and thank anyone who takes a chance on me and my little YA. So I've put together a special Pre-Order Promotion/Giveaway where everyone wins something!!!

Yes, that's right, EVERYONE!!! (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

And I wanted there to be as many prizes as possible, so I'm doing tiers of prizes--ALL of which are open internationally.

Here's the breakdown:

EVERYONE who pre-orders a copy of LET THE SKY FALL and fills out the form below before 11:59pm pacific time on 3/4/13 will win this:

a signed LTSF bookmark AND a signed LTSF bookplate, (which can also be personalized)
(and pardon my lame photo skills--they're even prettier than this in real life)

Additionally, I will draw TWENTY-FIVE lucky winners (yes, 25!!!) who will ALSO win one of these:

Special LTSF scrabble tile necklaces handmade by me
(again, the picture totally doesn't do them justice--and yes, they include the chain!)

And finally, one especially lucky grand prize winner will ALSO win a $50 amazon or B&N gift card (winner's choice)!!!!!

(I... don't have a picture of that because it's kind of boring to look at)
(BUT ITS FUN TO SHOP WITH!!!!)

Even better? I'm NOT making everyone email me proof of purchase in order to enter. That's WAY too much work for everyone. So the ONLY person who will have to email me proof of purchase will be the grand prize winner (who will have 7 days to send it to me after I notify them that they're the winner.) Everything else will be on the honor system. But PLEASE don't cheat and fill out the form if you haven't pre-ordered the book. Every time you do that a cupcake fairy loses her sparkle and HOW COULD YOU DEPRIVE THE WORLD OF SPARKLY CUPCAKES????

Also, I know that some of you lovely, lovely people may have already pre-ordered LTSF, and I would certainly never want to punish you for that (in fact, I *kind of* want to hug you). So if that's the case, you are welcome to fill out the form. All pre-orders count!

I ... think that covers everything. But if I missed something feel free to ask away in the comments. And THANK YOU guys for all the awesome support. Methinks it's going to be a crazy month and I am so glad I have you with me.

((BIG SMOOSHY GROUP HUG))

Okay, here's the form. And if for some reason it isn't loading, click HERE. Remember, you HAVE to fill it out if you want to win the prizes (and, yanno, pre-order the book). Don't just leave a blog comment, it won't be counted with the entries!

5. Do you want to LET THE SKY FALL???? (Hint: there's a giveaway!)

Okay--don't go into shock, but I AM ACTUALLY POSTING ON MY BLOG. (I know, I know--I said don't go into shock!)

Sadly, this does not mean I'm out of the deadline cave. I'm still very much trapped in that dark, stressful place for at least another few weeks. But the good news is: I snuck out into the light because I have something SUPER AWESOME to share with you guys--and a contest too! (so you'll want to stick with me to the end of this post)

See, I don't know if you realize this, but LET THE SKY FALL is launching into the world in LESS THAN 100 DAYS!!!!

I know to some of you that might sound very far away--but trust me, that is SOON. Like holy crap, there aren't enough exclamation marks in the world to convey how soon that is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Personally, I'd been planning to commemorate the impending countdown to LTSF's launch with a panicky, exclamation mark filled post (hey, kinda like this one) wherein I stressed about ALL THE THINGS.

Fortunately though, the lovely people at S&S had something MUCH more awesome planned (this is why authors shouldn't be in charge of these things). And so, I give you: THE MOST SHINY AWESOME COUNTDOWN WIDGET I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Make sure you click the play button in the top right--THERE ARE WIND SOUND FX!!!!
(and if, for some reason, that isn't loading right on your screen, you can also find it HERE)

Equally exciting--or maybe even MORE SO--is that S&S has also built a super-awesome microsite for LET THE SKY FALL, which they will be adding all kinds of cool things to in the months to come. And to start off the fun, they have the first four chapters online for you to read. Click HERE to check that out.

And of course this wouldn't be a proper celebration without a contest. SO I'M ALSO GIVING AWAY AN ARC OF LET THE SKY FALL!!!!!!!!!!

I want to make this really nice and easy for everyone (especially myself, given the whole DROWNING IN DEADLINES thing). So to enter all you have to do is leave a comment on this post by 11:59 pm pacific time on Saturday, December 8th. I'll draw one random winner and post their name on Sunday, December 9th. That's it--that's all you have to do. And international entries are welcome.

HOWEVER, I know some of you might wish there were a way to increase your chances of winning. So I will also give FIVE extra entries to anyone who posts the widget on their blog. I don't need a link--if you say you did it I trust you. But make sure you let me know that you did so I can give you your extra entries.

Ready?

Set?

GO!!!!!!!

6. Marvelous Middle Grade Monday: THE UNWANTEDS: ISLAND OF SILENCE, by Lisa McMann--plus a giveaway!

YAY--I FINALLY HAVE AN MMGM FOR YOU GUYS AGAIN!!!!! (Thank you SO much for bearing with me--and huge thanks to Deb Marshall for all of her wonderful guest posts!)

I wanted to start back with a bang, so today I'm featuring a super-fabulous book coming out on September 4th (so soon--WOO HOO!!!): THE UNWANTEDS: ISLAND OF SILENCE, by the amazing Lisa McMann. Check out the gorgeous cover:

Here's how the publisher describes it:

The second book in the middle-grade dystopian fantasy series that Kirkus Reviews calls “The Hunger Games meets Harry Potter,” by New York Times bestselling author Lisa McMann.

Following the life-altering events at the conclusion of The Unwanteds, the stark world of Quill and the magical haven of Artimé are now home to whoever wants to live there, whether they are Wanteds, Unwanteds, or Necessaries.

In Artimé, Alex Stowe and his friends continue to hone their artistic magical spells while welcoming newcomers, wondering how long this peace between Quill and Artimé will last. Alex is stunned when Mr. Today comes to him with a very special request—one Alex questions his readiness for, until circumstances offer a dramatic answer.

And back in Quill, Aaron Stowe, Alex’s twin, faces a very different path. Devastated by his loss of status after Justine’s defeat and seething with rage toward Alex, Aaron is stealthily planning his revenge and return to power.

Alex and Aaron’s separate stories proceed with suspenseful pacing, colliding in a stunning climax that elevates sibling rivalry to epic proportions and leaves the fate of both worlds hanging in the balance.

In case you don't know, this is the sequel to THE UNWANTEDS, a book I have already gushed about HERE. And as tends to happen with sequels, I totally had torn feelings going in. You know, that lovely mix of  I am so excited to read what happens next  and eep--please don't let me down!!!! Especially since one of my favorite things about THE UNWANTEDS is the world Lisa created and ... well ... let's just say that she changes it rather dramatically at the end of book 1.

So I was a little worried Book 2 wouldn't have the same feel. And it doesn't have the same feel--but trust me, that's actually a good thing! Why have a repeat of the first one when you can go to the next level of awesome???

There's still all your favorite characters and plenty of adventure to be had in Artime, but this time we also get to explore the changing climate of Quill, which was fascinating. As if that weren't cool enough, we get to discover the Island Of Silence. I don't want to spoil anything there, so all I'll say is it's delightfully creeptastic. AND THE ENDING! Dude. DUDE. I need book 3 like NOW.

It's hard to say more than that without revealing too much of the plot (or ruining book 1) so all I'll add is that if you haven't started this series yet, you need to. NOW. And if you're already a fan, have no fear, you will love this next installment and should definitely pick up a copy as soon as you can get your hands on it.

In the meantime, the lovely people at S&S have offered up an EARLY FINISHED HARDCOVER as a prize, which I'm giving away to one lucky winner.

If you would like to enter, leave a comment on this post by 11:59 pm pacific time on Saturday, August 25th. I'll draw one random winner and post their names on Sunday, August 26th. International entries welcome!

7. KEEPER'S FIRST BLURB!!!!!!! (and a contest to celebrate!)

A few of you might have seen me tweet this picture from the SCIBA event I went to last weekend:

This is me with Amber Benson (yes, Tara!) and Lisa McMann
(otherwise known as: two super-cool S&S Aladdin authors--with a Shannon standing nervously in the middle!)

And you might notice that I do not have my arm around Lisa McMann in the photo--and there IS a reason for that. See, poor Lisa had already had to endure a couple of awkward Shannon-hugs that evening, so I decided it wasn't right to make her endure any more.

Which may make you wonder why I was hug-molesting poor Lisa McMann.

Well... there are many reasons:

- I'm ... kinda a HUGE Lisa McMann fangirl
- She's arguably one of the nicest authors out there
- But mostly, it had to do with this:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“A delightful and dangerous adventure with complex characters and relationships you'll root for to the end of time.”
-Lisa McMann
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

In case you can't tell--that is the first official blurb for KEEPER OF THE LOST CITIES!!!

Nope--that's not enough exclamation marks:

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Though, mostly... I get a bit teary every time I read it.

I mean, having someone say something nice about my book will always be an AMAZING thing. But to have it be from an author I've been admiring and fangirl-ing for YEARS--an author who writes both middle grade and YA with the kind of ease and skill that I aspire to, is just...

There. Are. No. Words.

(That does not mean I didn't ramble--mostly incoherently--to poor Lisa at the event, thanking her for taking the time to read KEEPER and giving such an amazing blurb. But I will spare you that because it's bad enough poor Lisa had to suffer through it. I'm just happy I didn't cry!)

And just so you guys can fully understand why this blurb means so much to me, I've decided to give away some of Lisa's amazing books to one luck

8. So...THIS happened!

OMG YOU GUYS--LOOK WHAT CAME IN THE MAIL YESTERDAY!!!!

Yes--KEEPER OF THE LOST CITIES is now OFFICIALLY in ARC form.
ITS A REAL BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Nope--that's still not enough exclamation marks:

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Better!

And of course I HAD to take a bunch of dorky pictures of myself, celebrating:

(oh, you'd do the same thing--you know it!)

(I have QUITE a lot more of these--but I think you guys get the idea)

(and yes--yes I AM wearing my: I am a SERIOUS ARTIST black turtleneck sweater, but... that's mainly because it was FREEZING yesterday)

(FREEZING to a Native SoCalian = anything overcast and below 65 degrees F--just FYI)

I honestly can't even begin to describe what it feels like to hold my book--MY BOOK--for the first time, and flip through the pages and see my words in print and my name on every page and the font they chose and the chapter headings and... *sniffles*
