1. Revolving Door News: Sara Nelson, Parul Sehgal & Mary Kole

A number of publishing professionals have announced big job changes today.

Sara Nelson (pictured, via) is leaving O, The Oprah Magazine to serve as editorial director at Amazon.com Books. Publishers Weekly had the scoop: “A spokesperson for Amazon said Nelson ‘will be leading our editorial vision for books in the print and Kindle bookstores on Amazon.com.’”

Parul Sehgal will be a new preview editor at The New York Times Book Review.

2. Parul Sehgal Hired as Digital Associate Editor for Books at NPR

Parul Sehgal will join NPR as its new digital associate editor for books.

Previously, Sehgal (pictured, via) served as a senior editor at Publishers Weekly. Her work has appeared in The New York Times Book ReviewBookforum, The Literary Review and other publications.

Arts & Life senior supervisor producer Joe Matazzoni broke the news in an email to staff. An excerpt: “She won the National Book Critics Circle Balakian Citation for Excellence in Reviewing last year for her own elegant, incisive criticism… Parul is a graduate of McGill University and holds an MFA from Columbia. She grew up partly in DC and is happy to be moving back to the area, where she still has family.”
