INTERVIEW:
If you could invite any 5 people to dinner who would you choose?
I'd invite five supermodels. They wouldn't want their dessert, and there'd be all the more for me.

If you were a superhero what would your name be?
Poetic Justice.

If you could meet one person who has died who would you choose?
Someone who didn't believe in life after death, just so I could say "I bet you feel pretty silly now."

One food you would never eat?
Since I'm vegan, most of them.

When you were little, what did you want to be when you "grew up"?
I wanted to be a lawyer for many years. I was a dull child.

What's the craziest writing idea you've had?
"Hey, I could probably make a living from writing."

Which authors have influence you most how?
JRR Tolkien and Jack Vance for the elaborate dialogue. Robert E Howard for the general atmosphere. Terry Pratchett for the humour. Lord Dunsany for the use of Fame, Time and so on as characters.

If someone wrote a book about your life, what would the title be?
Accidental Life of an Anarchist.

Harry Potter or Twilight?
I've actually started a book in both series, but didn't read more than a few pages. I haven't read any of the Game of Thrones series either. Even though I mostly write fantasy, I have hardly any experience of fantasy that's around now.

The New Death and others by James Hutchings
Death gets a roommate...
An electronic Pope faces a difficult theological question...
A wicked vizier makes a terrible bargain...
44 stories. 19 poems. No sparkly vampires. There's a thin line between genius and insanity, and James Hutchings has just crossed it - but from which direction?

2. Book Giveaway & Author Interview: Beyond Broccoli by Susan Schenck

Welcome to Author Susan Schenck

Bio:
Susan Schenck, LAc, is a raw food coach, lecturer, and author of the 2-time award winning book, The Live Food Factor, The Comprehensive Guide to the Ultimate Diet for Body, Mind, Spirit & Planet, which has gained a reputation as the encyclopedia of the raw food diet—as well as Beyond Broccoli, Creating a Biologically Balanced Diet When a Vegetarian Diet Doesn’t Work. Interview:
If you could travel in a Time Machine would you go back to the past or into the future?
There is no question about it: I would love to go 100 years into the future when we have perfected the science of anti-aging and people will be almost immortal (at least those who choose to). This could happen much sooner, but I suspect it will take time to make it available for the masses. At first, probably only the rich will be able to afford it.

What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
I know it sounds crazy, but with all the flavors to choose from, I always take vanilla. And I make raw vanilla ice cream with my ice cream maker.

What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast?
I find that lightly steamed meat for breakfast is the thing that helps my blood sugar remain steady all day. I never get hungry after that. Sometimes I take four omega-3 eggs, boil the whites, and fold in with the raw egg yolks and some vegetables to make an omelet. I get the most expensive eggs, which are more healthful. I have eaten several thousand raw eggs and got mildly sick only once. I simply took some charcoal, which absorbed the toxins, and felt great after ten minutes.

Please tell us in one sentence only, why we should read your book.
Even non-vegans/vegetarians would profit from reading my new book, Beyond Broccoli, because it discusses a high raw, Paleolithic diet that will create peak health in everyone.

What inspired you to want to become a writer?
I knew I was a writer when I wrote books in second grade and the teacher had me read them in front of the class. Since then I have become a voracious reader. I want to “give back” by writing my own books.

Tell us your most rewarding experience since being published.
Having people email me with gratitude has made it all worthwhile!

What's one piece of advice you would give aspiring authors?
Keep writing, no matter what, as practice will improve your writing. Save everything you write, because you may use some of it decades later. There has never been an easier time to be a published author, ever since print on demand. Five corporations used to control what we read—but this has all changed with technology!

How did you know you should become an author?
When I voraciously read everything on the raw food diet, I accumulated so much knowledge about this powerful secret that I just knew I had to share it with the world!

Favorite Food?
I don’t really have a favorite food, but I do love eggs!

Favorite Candy?
I generally avoid candy due to health reasons, but I do indulge in raw chocolate and even make them at home, using coconut butter, raw

3. Author Interview & Ebook Giveaway: Enchanted Destiny by Rayka Mennen

Welcome to Author Rayka Mennen
If Rayka Mennen has failed to see the little fairies dancing under the toadstools, it’s because she wasn't looking hard enough. She writes romance because she believes. She writes for the sheer joy of creating and sometimes, in the process, discovers new worlds and friends. Be it in the country seat of the saturnine Duke, or in the slightly off center world of the reluctant
contemporary witch, the humdrum existence of the forty‐something single mom, the fantasy realm of seers and mages, or the deadly double‐life of the secret agent, Rayka offers every reader something to tickle their fancy, to fuel their daydreams, or inspire their own fantasy.

Interview:
Please tell us in one sentence only, why we should read your book.
The book, although it's not written in the 'normal' way, is so I have been told by those that have read it - encouraging and inspirational, and makes for a good - sometimes FUN read.

What inspired you to want to become a writer?
The inspiration to become a writer first came when I was not long out the four and a half month coma that I had been in. If you could call what I was doing 'thinking' when I was under the hospital blankets, I remember saying to myself, "Wouldn't this make a great story, and even a super film." You see, even having just woken up from the coma, my showbiz genes must have kicked in!

What is your dream cast for your book?
If the question means what I would wish for the book, then 1) -I would like to think that the book could be a reasonable success, 2) - that it would hopefully inspire anyone who is going through the same or similar physical problems, and show them that with hard work and determination great things can be achieved, and then 3) I sometimes think what a great human achievement movie it might make.
(But that is kinda wishful thinking maybe!).
As a completely unexpected sideline, the book (or the writing of it) has already inadvertently achieved at least one massively marvelous outcome. It has made me concentrate in order to dredge through the memories. So it has made channeling my thought processes easier! I talk better, I walk more stably, and I am able to configure conversations better.

What was your favorite book when you were a child/teen?
I grew up in a family that didn't really read. I read books for school, so I was always reading about kings and queens -princesses and dragons etc. When a teenager I read books about showbiz people - e.g. Judy Garland and lots of Magazine articles. BUT as an adult - again most books were showbiz orientated, and here in England I have read all of the Harry Potter books, because I had a daughter with whom I shared them.

What's one piece of advice you would give aspiring authors?
My advice to aspiring authors is to research your subject very fully. Don't do as I did, and start writing without really reading up on HOW TO WRITE!

Is there a song you could list as the theme song for your book or any of your characters?
My book is called after the openi

Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Mariah-Stewart/106000742764985

Interview:
If you were a superhero what would your name be?
Mom. Aren’t all moms superheroes?

What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast?
Yogurt and homemade granola (my husband makes the best!).

Night owl, or early bird?
Early bird. Definitely.

One food you would never eat?
Anything that can move on its own.

Pet Peeves?
Not so many, but one thing that drives me mad: drivers who all but blow you off the road to get in front of you, then slow down to ten mph below the speed limit!

Any other books in the works? Goals for future projects?
Right now, I’m working on Home for the Summer, book 5 in the Chesapeake Diaries (summer 2012), and a possible short story (e-book only) that will bridge between books 4 and 5 in the series. I’d love for this series to go on for a while longer – can see books 6, 7, and 8 already!

What inspired you to want to become a writer?
I’ve always loved good stories and found I love making up my own.

Tell us your most rewarding experience since being published.
There have been so many! The first time I actually held my first book in my hands. The first time I saw my book in a book store. The first letter I received from a reader who told me she LOVED my book! The first time I made a bestseller list…I could go on and on. Every step of the way has been so rewarding!

If you could jump in to a book, and live in that world, which would it be?
As long as I didn’t have to stay there forever – I’d like to spend just a little bit of time in the world that George R.R. Martin created for his Song of Fire & Ice series…just long enough to ride a dragon, then come home to tell my husband and kids about it!

What was your favorite book when you were a child/teen?
Anne of Green Gables.

What's one piece of advice you would give aspiring authors?
Read. Write. Read and write. Every day.

What is your favorite Quote?
I have several – all regarding writing:
Many people hear voices when no one is there. Some of them are called mad, and are shut up in rooms where they stare at the walls all day. Others are called writers, and they do pretty much the same thing.
~ Anonymous ~

I try to leave out the parts that people skip.
~ Elmore Leonard ~

Writing is the hardest work in the world not involving heavy lifting.
~ Pete Hamill ~

I think I did pretty well, considering I started out with nothing but a bunch of blank paper.
~ Steve Martin ~

Interview:
If you could travel in a Time Machine would you go back to the past or into the future?
I would go into the future to see how this all works out. It seems like this is the end of times, but for two thousand years it has always been the end of times, according to someone.

If you were stranded on a desert island what 3 things would you want with you?
A stack of books, my 200 favorite of CD's and my glasses.

What is one book everyone should read?
I think it is Saint Maybe by Anne Tyler, the story is about how one decision you make can change all the lives around you. The moral is: Do you have the character to rectify the things you put in motion?

What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
The peppermint ice cream that my husband Ray makes for me, I am very lucky he also bakes bread.

If you could meet one person who has died who would you choose?
I would choose my father, he died very suddenly and I was too young to have asked him all the question I now want to know the answers to.

Night owl, or early bird?
Definitely a night owl, I don't even like to get up until noon. I got into the casino business because I could work nights and enjoy my days in Lake Tahoe.

One food you would never eat?
I would never eat the insides of anything, no hearts, no kidneys, and no haggish. Which is not that easy since my husband is from Scotland.

Pet Peeves?
People who think they have a really good sense of humor.

Please tell us in one sentence only, why we should read your book.
You should read my book, because it is the first book written from a female croupier's point of view, and it's funny.

Any other books in the works? Goals for future projects?
My husband and I have started a blog, Table Games Confessions. We are giving newbies advice on gambling.

What inspired you to want to become a writer?
The love of reading, I read so much that eventually I felt I wanted to tell my own story.

Tell us your most rewarding experience since being published.
I came home one day to find out that my novel was chosen Read of the Week at Tripatini.com. My book had only been out a few months so I was really surprised and flattered.

Can you see yourself in any of your characters?
