Re-gift, please!!
By Kristi Butler“Every good and perfect gift is from above….” James 1:17 (NIV)
Re-gifting has a negative connotation…usually. Today I want you to consider it in a different light. If you are reading this blog, you must be feeling God’s urging for you to share in some fashion through the written word. Has He called you? Has He gifted you?? Friend, if God has given you the gift of teaching, encouraging, or sharing His love through the writing of personal experiences, devotions, or stories (fiction or non), that was not made to keep to yourself. Re-gift it!!
In Romans 12:6-8, we are challenged to recognize our gifting and to act upon it. Paul tells us that “We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage….” In 1 Peter 4:10, we read, “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms…with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised….” Is God calling you to serve Him…and others… through your gift of writing?
Many times when God calls, the “called” initially respond with “not me…I’m not a writer/speaker/teacher….I can’t.” Oh, but our God can!!! Just yield to His power! God will “equip you with everything good for doing His will” (Hebrews13:21), and you won’t be just basically equipped…but “thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:17)
A part of that equipping comes from making a commitment and taking advantage of opportunities that God brings our way to hone our skills and learn from those who have walked the writers’ road before us. Write2Ignite offers an amazing avenue to “fan into flame the gift of God” (2 Timothy 1:6) through speakers, workshops, and the fellowship of other Christians seeking to do His will.
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers [and sisters], in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies [including your mind, your heart, and your hands], as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God-this is your spiritual act of worship.” (Romans 12:1) Don’t you just love that??? Our writing, an act of worship! “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory…throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20-21)
Ready, set, re-gift!!!!!

Wonderful message, Kristi. I needed to hear this today.
Jean
What a great reminder! He has gifted us for His purpose. When we don’t follow through, we’re not using the gifting He’s given us for His glory. I’m so glad to hear about the scholarships. With ten scholarships available, there’s no reason not to apply!
I can’t wait to be there with all of you!
