I finished my Foxy pic. This pic was meant for last week's IF, but I didn't finish it. I was going to include a long quote, as I've been very attracted to using words lately with my art, but then these words just showed up. The words actually fit the topic "emergency" as well.
Our Foxy used to have a terrible time dealing with thunderstorms, and Arizona has these dreadful storms called monsoons. The second year we had Foxy she disappeared over our fence one thundery day and was gone for two days! Turns out she was only a few houses away down the street. A nice couple took her in, played with her, and even gave her a bath! Through the years we installed a sturdier and higher fence, worked with flower essences and herbs, and sat with her as she shaked through many a storm. Gratefully, only because Foxy can't hear as well because she is older, the storms don't bother her as much at all. I so love my Foxy. And the toy looks like Cookie Monster but is affectionately called BLUE TOY.
Print available at my store.

I really like this...it is not a typical dog portrait. Very nice colors and I like the blue with the white and the words. And...i like your sweet Foxy and her blue toy.
Cute!
That is so adorable! I love it!
beautiful drawing and i love his blue cuddle toy too.
this is such a cute illo, great perspective + a feel of tenderness between Foxy and her blue toy...simply lovely!
Ohhh, thats such a beautiful picture. It makes me feel like cuddling my teddy.
wonderful this all i can say! really wonderful!
Awww, poor pooch. He looks much more content here though. My parents' dog gets very nervous as well during thunder storms and it's difficult to calm her down. Anyhow, love this illustration and congrats on the animal exhibit!
Adorable! Beautiful pencil work.
Aw! Yes, emergency fits perfectly!! I love how he takes comfort in Blue Toy. I suppose B.T. is his security blankie.
We just added to our home's joyous madness by getting an 8 week yellow lab pup. I never thought I was a 'dog person' but how easily we are converted. I am in love.
p/s lovely drawing too! :-)
Dog people unite! Thanks everyone. Appreciate the kudos very much.
Precious illo!
So sweet! Great composition - you really get a lot of feeling from this illustration! My dog never minded storms, thank goodness, he grew up hearing planes all the time so loud noises didn't bother him!
Thanks Tracy. Thanks Kd. I suppose loud planes would drown out everything else!
I love how this illustration came out, I remember when you posted half way done and I liked it even then. You've really captured Foxy's feelings, and it's such a nice composition.
Our dog Constance is also terrified of thunderstorms. I usually go sit with her in the bathroom, where there are no windows while we wait for it to pass...
Your Foxy looks like a sweetheart! Nice illo of her. I like your story about her stormy adventure to the nice neighbors home too. Poor girl! Thanks for your visit and comment.
