1. Cat & Mouse

One of my newest Black & White pieces.

Yeah, I have a thing for cats and hats going on right now...

3. Wednesday Noir et Blanc: Garden-y Spots

These little vignettes are fun to do. Can you tell I have springtime on my mind? Time to start planning next season's garden... with a cup of something hot... seeing as how the temperature will be plunging for the next couple of days... Read the rest of this post

4. Wednesday Noir et Blanc: Sheep That Write!

I like writing in a old-fashioned paper notebook, too.

6. Wednesday Noir et Blanc: Happy Cow!

I'm playing around with black and white images. And, of course, Blogger has a mind of it's own when it comes to tones and color...

I forgot that black and white is tricky! This is pencil and wash on paper, so the wash part handled differently than on the watercolor paper I usually use. It felt looser. Maybe a good thing? I'm still pondering... Read the rest of this post

7. Wednesday B & W: The Old Apple Tree

Sometimes the kids from here, here, and here like to take a break and hang out on the old apple tree.

The tree is an odd shape, I know. It's just like the one that was in my backyard when I was growing up. My parents paid us neighborhood kids 5¢ an apple to pick up all the rotten ones. Not a bad deal, for the time!

I didn't want to start a new series this week, as I'll be taking a 2 week blogging break after Friday.

9. Black and White and Shades of Gray

Ahh, would that life were as easy as black and white. But alas, there are many shades of gray. Though for sure that makes it more interesting...

Just playing around here with more new samples... feel free to ignore my silly musings!

10. star fire

Here's a drawing for the fire theme...I was kinda thinking birth of a star or something... I actually like the color more than the drawing which is weird since I typically don't work in color.

12. Illustrator not Anonymous

Hi, my name's Meagan B. Call. I'm a writer and wannabe illustrator.
wingsflyingI'm currently working on my mfa in creative writing and am not entirely sure how to go about getting actual illustration work (or writing work for that matter, I'm pretty useless when it comes to employment). Any suggestions and especially technical critiques would be appreciated. Even if they're mean, but I warn you I'll make faces at you through my monitor if you're mean. My portfolio can be found here: www.hadesarrow.com but it's kinda outdated (I'm in Hosting Purgatory). I post a sketch every day on my blog: hadesarrow.blogspot.com among with vague ramblings about things that I think are design related but are usually just random. I've been following SFG for a while and I'm looking forward to joining in the fun. Thanks everyone, have a nice Christmas, Chanukah, winter solstice or Holiday of your choice.
