So is it man-made or does it just turn on and off on its own?

I saw many fabulous waterfalls in Hawaii, as well. The one that really stands out is on Oahu, and required a lengthy climb. Can't recall the name but SO worth the walk!

Though not the most beautiful waterfall I have ever seen, the one that was literally down the street from my house growing up will always be my favorite. It's a man made waterfall out of a little man made reservoir and it's not that tall, but all of us neighborhood kids used to love bikeriding there, climbing up to the top and pretending that we were at the top of the world. I will always love that place. :)

It is such a pretty picture and one of my favorite places are waterfalls. They are so pretty and lovely to play around in.

I haven't really traveled to any exotic location with waterfalls or anything like that, but I do find waterfalls very beautiful and serene. There is this waterfall near my friend's house that just looks and sounds so peaceful. It's man-made, but it's beautiful.

I LOVE the colour of the ocean, the way the sun tricks you into thinking the water is blue. It's just gorgeous and i love that my pool looks blue (cause of our lining of course) but it's nice to lounge in front of. I also love waves, they're amazing and a thing of beauty! Especially the high ones!

I absolutely love waterfalls. One of the best I've seen are the ones at this national park we go to all the time, and it's a super long hike but it's back in the middle of the woods and absol.utely gorgeous.

I also love all the water features in Wyoming - especially at Yellowstone!

I love Multnomah Falls, outside Portland, OR. It is always fun to hike to the top!

I love Ruby Falls in Tennessee. It is super cheesy and touristy with all the signs and barns that say "See Ruby Falls" and such but it is worth the kitch to see an underground waterfall.

I love big water fountains, they look so.. elegant and calm.

First of all, I never knew about your snowboarding experiences, and can I just say OUCH?

Here's something I learned about where I live in southern California, just last night. That the local 1940's motel that they are forever threatening to tear down is actually in Lima, Ohio...or at least, it appeared so last night in an episode of GLEE!

I've learned air conditioners are crucial in living in Phoenix. I learned this last summer when mine went out and I spent 3 days sleeping on the tile floor because it was cooler than my bed. XD Also, sleeping on tile floors hurts, jsyk

This year it has been how bad tornados can really be. While I was little we always got the warnings but never really got hit. This year hasnt been as bad as the southern states but hasnt been that great either.

I learned that the weather here is actually more severe than I originally thought. I always thought that I was kind of separated from the rest of the country so that I was unaffected by the harms of the weather (a.k.a. mother nature), but this winter has shown me that my area suffers from the same harmful weather conditions as everyone else. I live in New England, so we get a touch of heavy snow, heavy rain, extremely humid days, etc. I'm used to living in these conditions, but as I see what goes on around the world, I actually understand how similar each area is in several ways.

I just moved to this small town a week ago. I went for a walk today and discovered all the unique little stores here.

I'm pretty new to the area I live in, but I've done some research and found that Lake Elsinore used to be a resort town for movie stars in the '20s and '30s. You can still see the ruins of the old country club, and apparently Bela Lugosi's son attended the now abandoned military academy across the lake. There's also an old haunted bathhouse (now an antique store) next to Steve McQueen's old dingy bar. I love digging through history!

The area in which I lived used to be a swamp about a hundred years ago.

I found a shop that sells donuts with bacon top. Which just looks really gross and very unhealthy.

Every year, despite the fact that both my sister and I are grown, we have an Easter egg hunt in the yard. My aunt hides the eggs and we find them, they have numbers in them and we can turn them in for awesome prizes. We also still get Easter baskets. We aren't allowed to have our baskets until after church and it is kind of fun to wait and see what is in them. After church we also have a traditional meal of ham, deviled eggs, potato salad, asparagus, and cauliflower salad- very spring like.

The hubs and I are doing something different this year. We are staying home and spending the holiday with just the 2 of us. We've never done this before so it should be nice. Although, that does mean that I have to do the cooking. :o)

My family and I like to go a sunrise Easter service on a mountain!

My family always goes to church and following that we go to my grandmother's house. As usual, our Easter tradition is I hang ut with my little cousins and babysit them while my brother and the rest of the family play cards and gamble after dinner....it's very closely related to our Christmas festivities as well :)

I'm gonna miss my fam's Easter celebration this year. Usually, there is a ham dinner with lots of sides like scalloped potatoes.

Back in the day, I really enjoyed Holy Week and always went to Good Friday service to remember what the whole Easter story is all about. The best part is that the cross filled with nails on Friday night was covered with flowers on Easter Sunday. Transformation is always awesome, no matter what your belief system. :)

The family all go over to my parents house for a huge turkey dinner.The kids get to have an Easter egg hunt too.My nephew was only 2 months old last year so this year he'll enjoy it more.I'm looking forward to that.

Happy easter and passover. We celebrated last night with my Jewish side, and had lots of matzo ball soup. For easter we get to celebrate even more.

I am going to my grandparent's house this year for Easter. All of my cousins on my mom's side of the family are younger than me, so we have an Easter egg hunt. Of course, I participate, but I mostly help my favorite little cousin find some eggs. We usually have ham with the pineapple rings and cherries around it along with mashed potatoes, corn, salads, etc. Mostly the basics. However, this year we are also going to combine Easter with my grandmother's birthday, so we'll have her favorite dish. I think it's called fettuccine Alfredo, but I'm not sure. It's a white, Alfredo type sauce with broccoli and chicken over fettuccine. It's really good. My family usually goes to church before we go to my grandparent's house. We alternate between my mom's church (where I usually go) and my dad's church. It should be fun this year since we have another new addition to our family. He was just born a few months ago (December 17th) so this will be his first Easter. I'm pretty excited. :) Have a nice Easter!

Actually, my family is not very religious so now that all us kids are grown, and there are no Easter baskets or egg hunts to do, we just use it as an excuse to have a big ham dinner. :)

We don't really have any traditions on Easter - they change year to year depending on who is coming to Easter. I always love the years my mom makes her cheesy potatoes, as they are quite awesome.

First Easter we get to celebrate Easter as a family with an Easter Egg Hunt with the kids 5yr and 3yr. Enjoying the Home raised smoked Ham and Noodles and Cheese...peas and pearl onions, Pierogi-Style Lasanga and Strawberry Poke Cake with Cool whip.

Well, of course, I'm looking forward to The Discovery. But I'm also really excited for The Last Little Blue Envelope by Maureen Johnson, Uncommon Criminals by Ally Carter, and What Happened to Goodbye by Sarah Dessen. The Last Little Blue Envelope will be released on April 26th, so there isn't much more of a wait. Uncommon Criminals will be released June 21st. What Happened to Goodbye will be released May 10th. These are the first few books that came to mind that haven't been released yet, but there are a few books in some of my favorites series that haven't been written yet, but are still promised to be released... eventually. Haha. Well, thanks, Marley!

The Tower of Terror. I was so scared the first time I rode that I kept my eyes closed. The second time was so much more fun.

I loved the Tower Of Terror, and yes, I enjoyed it even more the 2nd time around. Although, that might have to do with the fact that the first time I rode it I was (unknowingly) pregnant. Yikes!

Kneeboarding this past summer. It was also my first attempt at staying on a stupid dinky fiberglass board being drug behind a boat around a big lake without flying off and crashing like everyone else did. lol. I didn't crash bad but just pulling myself up to kneel on the board was soooo stinking hard. I had to give so many thumbs down to stop the boat so I could rest my arms from trying. Never made it up the first day, but the second attempt a few days later I was so scared it was just going to be another repeat of me being drug around the lake trying my hardest to pull myself up to kneel onto the board with no success. But after my brother Bill finished laughing his butt off { seriously doubled over tears streaking his cheeks laughing } he suggested I start out already half way in position { laying like a frog, lol } and then just "hop" into place. I actually managed to get up and kneeboard and it was awesome. Even if my brother laughed his butt off at me. lol.

{ And I love the Tower of Terror!!}

I know this post is about giving things a second chance, but one time on Tower of Terror was enough for me!!! I always keep my eyes closed on roller coasters and high up stuff, but during the middle of the Tower ride, it seemed to be going ok, so I thought I could handle opening my eyes--Big mistake! I could see a bright light through my eyelids, and I thought that meant it was safe--I opened my eyes and realized that the "bright light" was the sunlight coming in from the GAPING HOLE in the building. My eyes slammed shut and stayed that way the rest of the ride!!!!

As for giving things second chances, I'm always telling myself that if I have to do something again, now I'll know what to do--unfortunately, the chance doesn't come up that often.

One that does come to mind, is my second driving test. My first one was horrible and painful. I'd practiced, not enough, but I was hopeful...My hope started fading after I got the Old Guy. Where I grew up, for your driving test, you either got the Old Guy, or the Good One. The Old Guy was beyond old, gruff, grouchy--everything you'd picture an Old Guy to be--And he was NOTORIOUS for not letting people pass on their first test. So naturally I was terrified. It seemed like everything I did was slow and jerky. When we got to the first 4-way intersection, the Old Guy wanted me to turn left, but a guy coming the opposite direction came to a stop at the same time I did. It was an agonizing bunch of stops and starts and stops and starts, until finally the other guy waved me on. I managed a perfect Y-turn, but then, on the way back, I ran a stop sign--In my defense, all the streets around our DMV were totally set up to screw with people--The DMV parking lot is off of the only one-way street in town. And the aforementioned stop sign is in the middle of a street with no cross-section. Needless to say, I didn't pass.

The second-time around, I'd practiced a lot more, was a lot more confident, did another perfect Y-turn, got the Good One, and passed with flying colors.

p.s. I was really disappointed that neither one asked me to parallel park--I haven't had to do it in a while, but back then I was GOOD!!! I actually OFFERED the second time, but no go.

Reading an exciting book... I'm never afraid that the main character will die, so I get the chance to re-read it without being worried. :)

For me its travelling and going to new places. I feel like the first time I go I don't take in everything and enjoy it as much as I could have. Once I'm back home I realize that I should have explored more and done different things so want to go back a second or third time.

Either re-reading a great book and/or watching a favorite movie. Like Pride and Prejudice - the book is definitely worth more than one read and I love the 2005 version of the movie with Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen (sorry all you Colin Firth fans).

Watching Matrix. I was young when it came out. I didn't really get what the story was about aside from the bullet slow-mo scene. But after a few years, the movie was used in a presentation in school about human consciousness and I watched it again. For the first time ever, I finally understood what it means. Maybe because I knew what to expect and of course, I've grown older.

Right now, the only example I can think of is when my aunt had her first kid. I didn't know what to really expect because the last time there was a baby in the family, I was only 6 when he was born. So, I didn't really know what exactly was right and wrong. I learned pretty quickly, though, so there weren't any real issues. Then my aunt had a second baby, this time a boy (my other cousin- his older sister- is a girl) and I wasn't so worried about how to take care of him because I knew from experience what worked and didn't work.

As a simpler example, I have to agree with some of the other comments- the Tower of Terror. I rode it 2 or 3 times, but the second time I went on, it was much more fun because I had a better idea of what to expect. Even though you hear from other people about it, that doesn't help calm your nerves because it's the first time you've ever gone on the ride. However, the first drop is always nerve racking, but so worth it. The thrill is just so exciting! Rockin' Roller Coaster is similar to this (minus the drops, but replaced with the loops and lights and music), so both were even better the second time around because I knew what to expect. :)

I would have to say trying different foods is better the second time around. I have a super strength nose so it's hard to eat anything that smells funny. Once I get through that first time though it gets a lot easier!

I think a really good book and/or movie is better the second time around. You find stuff you missed the first time which makes it so much better. :)

My favorite library is The Salt Lake City Library because that is where my husband proposed. I had never been to the library before that day, but that year (2006) it was voted Library of the Year. It is an amazing library, with gardens on top, fireplaces, waterfalls... we toured the library and then my husband took me to a little outcropping in the children's section call the attic. It is a little secluded room that looks like an attic. We happened to be all alone and there he proposed. We went back to the library a few months later to take our engagement pictures. My husband decided to propose to me in a library because he knew how much I loved books and libraries.

Oh, man! Books and romance. How can we top that? My most memorable library experience - walking into the NYC library. My favorite library spot: the third floor of the University of Charleston (WV) - All the "high Deweys" were there and very few students. I can still smell those stacks!

Wow, that is the most romantic story ever, Kristi! I'm kinda jealous. And ReadingTub, your comment made me remember my childhood, when libraries smelled like furniture polish and dust and paper.

I think my favorite library is my college library, because some friends and I discovered the secret path to the roof. I liked knowing how to get to that random little door that opened onto the roof, even if I was too scared of heights to hang out there regularly.

My favorite library is any library because exuberances overflows on every shelf.To walk into a library is like walking into a parallel universe. So many diverse cultures and adventures are waiting to be told. Books are treasure chest whispering tales of the imagination.

My favorite libraries are bookmobiles because they bring the books to you! When my son was younger we lived in a small township that a bookmobile visited and every week we eagerly awaited its arrival. I haven't been on one in awhile, but there's something wonderful about stepping on board a bus full of books. I think it would be fun to drive :)

These are wonderful! It occurs to me that I love my local library (which isn't where I work, although I used to) because (among other assets) it has a huge and free parking lot. Gotta love that...!

My favorite library is the one just around the corner. It is not the best library I've ever been in, but it's OUR library and we bought this house in part because of it. I've been taking my daughter there since we moved in and she thinks of it as HER library, of course. Did I mention we can walk to it? Outside of college, I've never had that before and I love it. Thanks!

I grew up in a very small town of only 400 people but despite the size the downtown included a public library. When I was 4 my mom signed me up for my very own library card. (I was number 21 - they had just started using library cards that year!) While the total footage of the library equaled only 707 sq ft, I was always able to find something interesting to read. Every summer during my youth I attended the summer library program. Many happy memories!

My favorite library is the Lincoln Library in Springfield, IL because of the awesome and FREE literacy events they host for children.

My favourite library is my first library. It's the one where the wondrous world of books was opened to me, and I was given the key to my future happiness - a library card!

I still recall the musty yet delightful smell of yellowing pages, dust motes dancing in stray sunbeams that pierced dingy windows, and the wobbly wart on the elderly librarian's chin. Or perhaps I'm making that last part up.

That first library was in an old suburban School of Arts building in Sydney, NSW, Australia. We couldn't afford to own many books, but that's where I first realized that "borrow" meant "lovingly own for a short while".

My kids favorite library right now is our local library. Not just because it is local. It is called the 'loud library.' My kids are 7 and three and when they go to the library they want to be read too. The Sherwood Hall Regional library turned an unused room near the children's section into a play-read together room. My kids can grab a huge stack of books and go in there and we can read them together. Then when they want a break they can do some puzzles or even run around the ABC rug for a few minutes and no one in the library would be disturbed. I like it because the room is enclosed with glass so I can let them sit and look for more picture books or age approriate books while keeping an eye on them.

But if you asked me what my favorite library memory is it would be that warm feeling I got when I worked on a paper at the Library of Congress. The smells and the work tables were just very 'romantic and warm'. I was just really lucky because my mom worked there. That is what happens when your the kid of a librarian. Your idea of romance comes from the smell of dusty books?

Wow, these are veritable odes to libraries. Can't wait to announce the winners on Monday (will be chosen randomly, 'cause I'd never be able to choose between all of you otherwise!).

I visit and use many different libraries, but right now I'm lovin' the Los Feliz Branch of the L.A.P.L.

The Children's Librarian there is so cool, and she makes yummy cupcakes for the kids to eat after the weekly LACMA-led art class.

It's a cozy spot to hang out with books in the megalopolis of L.A.

My favorite library is Herrick District Library in Holland, MI. Why? The children's librarians there are fantastic. They greet my three kids by name, they find books for me that they think I'd like, they offer entertaining children's activities AND they love what they do. I want to be one of them when I grow up!

My favorite library is always the one that I'm closest too...so right now that would be the Allen, Texas Public Library. I love the library because every shelf brims with possibility. Possibility to learn something new, try a new recipe or craft project, meet a new culture or just take a much needed vacation.

In terms of space my favorite library would be the Indianapolis-Marion County downtown library. Just a beautifully designed house for books.

My favorite library is the Richland Community Library (in Richland, PA) because I could walk there with my toddler daughter every single day and enjoy the books and the company! It is a very small library, but it is a community library in the truest sense. The librarian and her staff have done all that they can (with a limited budget) to make it inviting, accessible to all ages, and a place that promotes reading and literacy! Even though we have since moved away from that town, I still donate my materials and $$ to them, and I still try to get over there at least once a month to check out how things are!

I love visiting other libraries. It's great to see new displays, new books, and other details found in each library. Yet with all the looking and loving of libraries, I always return to my home library - Menasha Public Library. It's such a comfort to know where everything is located and knowing the people who work there. I have a library day with my girlfriends, where we visit once a week and I always feel so lost when I miss my library day. The beauty and power of libraries, they change lives.
