1. WIP's, Book Sales, Inspiration

I have been quite the slacker when it comes to blogging these days and I’m going to try to do better! Life gets so busy and right now, taxes are on the top of my to-do list. Ugh.

I fine-tuned an author visit program and visited with a group of eight graders earlier this month and it was a blast!! I think doing author visits and presentations at author events is one of my favorite parts of being an author.

I’m working on my middle grade novel and have noted my daily goals on my calendar and have set a deadline for myself. Then, I’ll be passing it on to a few writer friends for critique before sending it off to Super Agent.

I have several writer friends and one who really inspires me is my pal, Lisa Schroeder. Lisa and I swap manuscripts from time to time and I read her middle grade novel, IMPOSSIBLY SMALL when she completed it. I loved it and offered a few ideas, one being a fun twist to the ending. Lisa loved the idea and used it and I can’t wait to read the final version because she just SOLD it to Holt. Yay!! Congrats, Lisa!!

I’m also doing research for a couple of nonfiction projects. One of the perks of working at my school library job is that I’m able to see gaps in the market. Not just the school library market, but the market as a whole. It just so happens that one of my projects will fill a gap and this is a really good thing! I won’t go into platform and competing books here, but I am working behind the scenes on all that market research, too. There’re several databases I use and my findings are keeping me going.

So, I’m still here, working and writing. Tell me what you’re up to!!

XO Lisa
