7. AWARD WINNING JOURNALIST GLEN CARTER ANNOUNCES SECOND BEST SELLER NOVEL…

"Months before it was announced by President Barack Obama, a novel by Canadian author Glen Carter eerily mirrors the White House rapprochement with Cuba. Though, Last Witness contains an explosive conclusion and certainly a more tragic beginning - from more than 50 years ago."

NEW RELEASE
A mysterious letter has reached retired FBI agent Ed Malloy. A letter bearing a name from a lifetime ago, from a woman who claims she saw what really happened on the day John F. Kennedy died in Dallas. Many were there to film the president, but Helena Storozhenko snapped a photo on November 22, 1963, that would have changed everything. Then she vanished. Until now. From her death bed in Odessa, the Babushka Lady provides a piece of evidence that will send Malloy and network television host Jack Doyle on a desperate search for the truth. She has summoned Malloy and finally reveals what she witnessed in Dealey Plaza. Malloy and Doyle need each other to solve a decades-old mystery, and to stop an assassin who is driven by the same evil which changed the world so tragically – so long ago. It all comes down to one place, one time, and one bullet as they race to prevent history from repeating itself – more than fifty years after a president was brutally slain – and Helena Storozhenko was The Last Witness.

'This is a sprawling thriller in the example of Jean Le Carre or Frederick Forsyth, with multiple characters, exotic globetrotting locations and a core plotline that twists and turns and cliffhangs chapter by chapter.'

ACTION ADVENTURE - SUSPENSE

Also by this author:

GRIPPING SUSPENSE!
In the mountains of Colombia, an old man stumbles sweating and breathless into the Jaguar Forest. Cursed, he feels forced to commit a savage act, and a family is destroyed - his own. From Luis Mendoza's insanity, survivors emerge, but they will not know what their grandfather intended for them, even though they were the ones destined to die. Decades later, veteran reporter Jack Doyle is about to become his network's next anchor star. Doyle has always done his job the right way, and when eight girls, including a US senator's daughter, are brutally murdered, Doyle discovers a trail of blood and drugs that leads to Colombia. It's where the story is, even if his network bosses don't agree. Colombia is a country on fire and la violencia means no one is safe, including Doyle and his producer, the beautiful Kaitlin O'Rourke. Narco-terrorists strike. Doyle comes home. Kaitlin doesn't.

With his career and life adrift, Doyle struggles with the blame for his renegade assignment. Kaitlin was his friend. Possibly much more. Trying to rescue his soul, Jack sets sail. Alone and faltering on the Atlantic Ocean, he receives an astonishing message so bizarre it sets in motion his most dangerous assignment - a covert mission through the blood-soaked Colombian jungle to find a woman who stepped away at dinner and never came back. Doyle is plunged into a story of deception, betrayal, and a drug lord's insane plan to deliver an apocalyptic message to the White House. To stay alive, Doyle must confront his past and untangle his future. And before it's too late, he must uncover the unbelievable truth about Kaitlin O'Rourke and the Angels of Maradona.

Final Daze: "God's Way, or the Highway!"

In 2010, a poll showed that more than 80% of Americans claim to be Christians. At first glance that is one impressive figure. However, if we read what Jesus told His followers in Matthew 7:13-14, we see a serious contradiction between that poll finding and the Word of God. It is apparent, from what Jesus says, the gate and road to hell are “broad,” and flooded with “many.” Jesus taught in Matthew and Luke (13:24) that the gate to heaven is narrow like the path leading there. Furthermore, Jesus said that the narrow path has its difficulties, causing “few” to find and be able to enter the gate! Scriptures put the Bible at odds with the poll.
Final Daze: “God’s Way, or the Highway,” is an in depth examination of the narrow path, gate, and Romans 1:16-32 where Paul tells the people they have exchanged Biblical truths for their own understandings and wisdom. Not only do they believe their ways to be wiser than God’s way, but they worship their choices. Paul says God is close to turning them over to their error filled ways, lustful lifestyles, and degrading passions, once and for all! When God decides to turn mankind, individually and collectively, over to their own wickedness, it will be like a “spiritual fog, or daze” settling on and losing them to follow their sin, as they move ever closer to the final darkness and hell!
The “final daze” draped over those rebellious souls will result in their heading down the “highway to hell!” in massive numbers! Is there still time for those dabbling with worldly deities, cons and religions to come to God? Not really, as Jesus told us “today” is the day of salvation; not tomorrow, for tomorrow is not guaranteed for anyone. The coming haze will be a direct result of man’s personal arrogance, vanity, lust and love for the pleasures of the flesh which they try to justify with God’s Word. This is religious apostasy.
Pastor Zimmer provides a creative narrative that is upbeat, candid and prayerfully aimed at correcting the errors of the multitude before their time runs out. This book reflects his calling to the ministry, and his heartfelt desire to assist all who want, to exit the road to hell. The “trumpets in Zion have sounded” and the multitudes need to choose whom they’ll follow on earth into eternity. The right to call yourself a Christian is based on more than most are willing to commit to, personally and spiritually, in this life! Final Daze is composed in a way to make sure that those who claim to be His, have no doubt. For instance, the term Christian is used just three times in the New Testament.
The first was in Acts 11:26, when Barnabas and Paul, guests of the Antioch congregation, were referred to as Christians. The second is in Acts 26:28 when King Herod Agrippa II asks Paul if he can persuade him to become a Christian in such a short time. The final is in, I Peter 4:16 where believers are told, “if you suffer for being Christians, don’t be ashamed; instead, Praise the Father for the name you bear!” The etymology of “Christian” is embedded in the Greek suggesting that Christians are “follower’s of Christ” while proclaiming “He’s the anointed one.” The word also has close linguistic ties to the Latin with its adjectival ending suggesting Christians are those who “adhere to, or belong to Jesus, as in slave/owner relationship.” Thus you can clearly see that the term “Christian” when first used by the Antioch church and then by King Herod was truly an accolade to those who lived as “little Christ’s’!"
Final Daze is written to make sure that those who call themselves Christian are not merely wasting their one opportunity to have eternal life by practicing forms of religions. A Biblical Christian is one who is truly saved, washed in the blood of Jesus, and not merely carrying out some form of “religious lip service.” Biblical repentance, leading to salvation, requires an act of the heart and soul that changes ones entire eternal direction here on earth!

Thorn Daze: The Painful Truth About Prosperity Teaching
If you are struggling to understand why God has not healed you, than Thorn Daze is a must-read book. Pastor Zimmer candidly shares his personal struggles with healing, and only after many years of trial and error does he come to accept, understand, and apply the teachings of the Apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 12:7-10 to his life. In a world that is filled with quick fixes for just about everything, the believer can easily lose faith when they are going through an emotional, spiritual, or physical storms. Too often, believers become so desperate to be rid of their physical and emotional struggles that they grasp at spiritual straws with the hope of discovering a God sent miracle and healing.
Pastor Zimmer examines the prosperity teaching movement in relation to 2 Corinthians 12:7-10, and discovers that he and other believers may be left to suffer in order to bring God glory. Through prayer, and His manifested grace, the believer can come to discover that His grace is more than sufficient in relieving pain and suffering. This is an open and honest look at the authors own pain and suffering over the years; his personal disappointment with God when it came to not being healed; and how he's grown to accept God's all sufficient grace and perfect will for his life.

Prodigal Daze: My Long Road Home
Prodigal Daze is a very candid and at times, graphic portrayal of a young pastor's downward spiral into the dark world of pornography, failed marriages, and failed attempts at ministry. The willingness of the author to talk about the unthinkable should serve as a beacon of hope for any believer who is struggling with similar issues and hopelessly trapped in ungodly and unholy cravings and lifestyles. Prodigal Daze will lovingly and explicitly move the reader from Romans 7 (defeated by sin) to Romans 8 (victory over sin).
Prodigal Daze is a must-read book for all believers, because sin is something we are all subject to according to I John 1:5-10. The author shows us the patience of a loving Father who remains faithful to His promise to save us, even after we fall. Prodigal Daze speaks to every believer about the courage to move forward in midst of your trials.

The Unsurrendered
by Joyce Shaughnessy
Filipino-American armed forces were sadly under-prepared for war when Japan attacked both Pearl Harbor and the Philippines in December 1941. A spontaneous resistance movement sprang up throughout the islands among Filipino civilians of all ages and sexes, and among the American and Filipino soldiers who remained unsurrendered or who escaped imprisonment after the falls of Bataan and Corregidor.
American military intelligence agent Jacob Martin and Carla Santos, his Filipina wife joined The Unsurrendered as it slowly assumed control over more of the existing, rival guerrilla units on Mindanao and trained them to harass the Japanese. Their group grew even larger with thousands of patriotic male and female Filipinos, many of whom were enraged by the Japanese atrocities.

The American soldiers fight desperately for six months on the Bataan Peninsula, with the Army nurses at their side, rendering aid when possible. Finally, dying of starvation and disease, the Army discovers that the United States cannot send any supplies or men to fight the Japanese because they are committed to the European campaign first. They realize there is no escape from the Japanese. The Army ultimately must surrender.
Elton is forced to walk the Death March and to witness horrifying atrocities during the rest of the war at Camp O’Donnell, Cabanatuan, and on the Hell Ships, where Americans are murdered by Japanese cruelty and neglect. Susan is interred at Santo Tomas and secretly aids the Filipino Guerilla movement. Following his escape from a Hell Ship, Elton rejoins the frontlines with the Sixth Army Rangers in the operation to free Cabanatuan Prison Camp behind Japanese lines. And still their love survives…
Although this is a work of fiction, Blessed Are the Merciful involves the inhumanity and terrible consequences of war. It is a story about what happens to ordinary people when they are caught in extraordinary times. In understanding what happens when war is waged, people can strive toward the goal so that history does not repeat itself.

A Healing Place
by Joyce Shaughnessy
A Healing Place is an historical novel based on the Great American Depression and WWII in the Philippines. Evicted from their Oklahoma farm, Amos and Molly and their three children are forced to find a new place to live. They find their healing place in Texon, Texas, a small oil camp just east of Rankin. It has everything they’ve been looking for, especially a welcoming community. Then when WWII is on the horizon, their son-in-law is in the Army in the Philippines when Japan attacks, forcing the men and women there to finally surrender. America is supplying the European front of the war first, and the Pacific is left without enough food, medicine, ammunition, or men to fight. The men are forced to walk the Bataan Death March, and Jed eventually finds himself in Cabanatuan prison camp. Addie, his wife, stays in Texon with her family. Jed finds his healing place in the power of prayer.

Texas Gold
by Joyce Shaughnessy
TEXAS GOLD has the honor of being included in the White House Library by Mrs. George W. Bush.
Big things happen in Texas, but there's nothing quite like a West Texas tornado, especially to a small child living through it for the first time. I was just four years old and I remember my father waking me in the middle of the night, wrapping me in a blanket and picking me up in his strong arms.

That's the way it was in Texon, neighbors helping each other as if we were all one big family. We were poor, but we didn't know it; everyone was poor. Growing up in a Texas oil camp was an experience. Everywhere we looked there were oil rigs and the smell of oil. The noise and hum the pumps made as they pulled oil to the tanks were, at first, horrid. But one day I just didn't hear them anymore and, strangely enough, I miss them. Yes, Texon was more than the smell of an oil camp. It was such a special place that I would wish many times that I could have lived there forever.
Many of you know what I mean about the place you grew up, don't you? Now, TEXAS GOLD brings a remarkable Texon back to life.
This book is currently out of print, however, copies may still be available online.

Jessie Best was born in the Ottawa Valley region and moved to the Toronto area as an adult. She has one son and two grandchildren.

Having spent most of her working life as a professional in the healthcare field, she has decided to make writing her second career.

Krikkit's Shoes: The Kingdom of D'Arragon is Jessie's debut as an author. She writes both adult and children’s fiction.

Krikkit’s Shoes: The Kingdom of D'Arragon

Life is pretty ordinary for Krikkit. Ordinary and rather boring. Boring, that is, until she places the shiny black leather shoes she rescued from beneath her bed, on her nine year old feet. Transported almost instantly to the Kingdom of D'Arragon, she becomes caught up in the mystery and magic of the royal D'Arragon Dynasty.

Sorcery and intrigue abound, but Krikkit's sense of adventure overcomes her fear and doubt as she enters a wondrous new world she could never have imagined existed. She attempts, with the help of Jara, a D'Arragon sorcerer, to prevent a century old prophecy from becoming a horrible reality that would change the royal dynasty forever.

Amidst all the excitement and chaos Krikkit encounters, she cannot help but wonder if she will ever get home again.

The Bowling Detective
By Michael D. Blackburn
Is a story real murder story changed into fiction such that retired detective – Mick Schwartz - is kept occupied. He tries to solve cases with a little help from his friends at the local police station. Somehow he sees things that others do not.
The original murder took place on Cut Throat Lane, the name of the road when the story was passed around in the late 1940s. The road is now called ….in Leicester.
No we are not going to tell you, here are some clues at the Leicester end. A new church was built in the 1950s; there were allotments on the right; a smelly pond under a large tree on the left, with newts, frogs and all sorts of creepy things; we kept these in jam jars: for our mothers.
Mick solves the problem in Leicester and then it leads him to Margate, where they are experiencing the same problem.

20. From a Long Line of Authors Comes Ten Tubby Space Toads on the Moon

On the Moon
by SMJ Rigstad

On the moon, many years ago, lived ten toads. Come and enjoy these remarkable little space toads as they embark on a surprising adventure. Meet the sheriff, Trey, and see what mystery he is about to stumble upon, or maybe you want to play a little football with Tim! If that doesn't entice you, maybe you want to play leap frog with the tiny toad twins or see what Chef Tom is cooking up. Either way, there is adventure to be had in this clever, tongue-twisting tale of ten tubby space toads.

Presently Sarah is working side by side with her agent and she is busy writing children’s movie script which means taking a break from her own book projects for a while. Being a mother of three, all under the age of 5, Sarah juggles her passion for writing and her home life by combining the two elements. Inspired by her children’s imagination she takes her inspiration from activities and creative fun they have together. Born in 1984 as a ‘Hodgson’ (and a Scottish McDougall!), she has been writing since she was 6 years old. Not surprising she was bit by the writing bug early as she comes from a long line of authors and writers, her mother Julie Hodgson, to name one. To this date she has written 21 books/scripts and over the past 12 years Sarah has been meticulously cataloguing and perfecting each story.

Her mission: To keep imagination alive, to get children reading and enjoying the written word. Also to help get her messages of kindness, hope, friendship and maybe a little comedy to every child she meets. Her adult and self help books are part of her growing interest in the world of adult literature and expanding, perfecting, and improving her knowledge as a writer.

Roland Hughes’ newest novel - ‘as important as George Orwell’s 1984 and Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World’

John Smith - Last Known Survivor of the Microsoft Wars by Roland Hughes
What if the Mayans got the start of the end correct because they had survived it once before? What if our written history was just as accurate as the old tale about three blind men describing an elephant? What if classic science fiction writing and television shows each got a piece of it correct, would you know which ones? If your eyes can only see a tiny portion of a collage do you know it is a collage?
Sit back and watch the beads you have had all your life form the picture you could not see. Consider for one second the possibility of the story, then hang onto your mind with both hands while you take the ride.

Published December 20, 2011

Lars Neilsen, a professor-sleuth, and his highly skilled Alpha Team put their lives on the line to catch the cold case killer of twenty victims.

Taurus, nick-name for the killer, has a track record of murders from Buffalo, Albany, Philadelphia to the Washington, D.C. Metro area. His modus operandi is mostly strangulation---placing a plastic bag over the head of his victims.

D.C.'s heightened restlessness is reminiscent of the post 9/11, snipers, and anthrax scares. Everyone is walking on pins and needles, particularly in the Northern Virginia region. The entire nation watches.

25. Sweet Abandon: A Journey into Secrets and Lies next memoir in line for Dr. Phyllis A. Langton, Professor Emerita GWU…

“A story about families that live with secrets and lies grounded in shame.”

About Last Flight Out…

How do you live the rest of your life when your doctor says, “You have Lou Gehrig’s disease, you probably have six months to live. Go out and have fun, do all the things you’ve wanted to do while you still can and prepare to die?”

Americans continue to fear death and dying. Comedian Woody Allen said, “I’m not afraid of death, I just don’t want to be there when it happens.” Phyllis Langton’s memoir, Last Flight Out: Living, Loving, & Leaving, is a passionate love story, one that deepens as she and her husband George Thomas live their way into the experience of ALS, its unremitting losses and its surprising gifts, with dignity, keen humor, a fighter pilot’s courage and a nurse’s unsentimental pragmatism.

“I know what’s going to be on my death certificate. That’s more than you can say,” George tells her after receiving his diagnosis.

How they are going to live the time that remains to them as a couple is also not in question, for they are equally committed to savoring every minute, respecting George Thomas's choices about what makes for a meaningful life, a meaningful death.

Supporting her husband's wishes is a moral as well as emotional choice on Langton's part, and definitely not always an easy one. As a medical sociologist, she invites her readers into an open discussion of some of these choices through a thoughtful discussion guide.

♦♦♦

"Phyllis Langton has had as illustrious a career as anyone in academia, but she has taken infinite pains now to write a different kind of book. Her story of her husband's life with and death from ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) yields many a valuable lesson, but this lesson above all: that dying, whatever its pains, can be both a negative and a positive experience. Here love and mortality, laughter and sorrow are all but inseparable, and their inseparability may help lessen a reader's fear of death and dying. Anyone who enjoys a deeply moving story will want to read this wondrous, indispensable book, and anybody who faces adversity, that is to say everybody, will need to read it."

Jeffery Paine––author of Father India, Re-enchantment, Adventures with the Buddha, and Tales of Wonder (with Huston Smith). Judge for the Pulitzer Prize and former vice-president of the National Book Critics Circle.

"Like many others, I've not been comfortable with the subject of death––the death of my loved ones or myself. How lucky we humans are to have Phyllis Langton's story as part of our lives. This moving book has allowed me to look death in the eye, and even find a way to laugh about it. Langton shows us that deep love and laughter make the sorrow and loss bearable, paving the way for this ultimate journey and beyond. . . ."

Jill Breckenridge––author of The Gravity of Flesh and Miss Priss and the Con Man.

“I couldn't put Last Flight Out down. I wanted it to go on so I could learn more about Phyllis and George and their story about facing ALS together. George had a terminal disease and he and Phyllis chose to live and love to the fullest! What an incredible message to read especially with a disease that takes and takes.”

Sharon J. Matland, R.N., M.B.A.––Vice-President of Patient Services, The ALS Association

“Who would have thought that disease can be a page-turner? But Phyllis Langton's bittersweet memoir of her fighter-pilot husband's last years shows that a good marriage can be as joyous in sickness as it is in health. Last Flight Out is a vivid, sparkling story about facing death with grace and high spirits.”

Mark Weston—author of Giants of Japan and Prophets and Princes: Saudi Arabia From Muhammad to the Present.

“Last Flight Out really touched my heart. As the hospice physician who cared for George, I found the description of the denial of his symptoms extremely compelling and riveting and it taught me to appreciate more deeply the psychological defenses which patients use to protect themselves against the perception of their own vulnerabilities. In addition, this memoir reminds all who read it of the paramount need to honor and respect a patient's wishes to control the conditions of care and medical treatment. George achieved a wonderful peace of mind as his disease relentlessly progressed. Everyone should be so fortunate to have such a resourceful and loving advocate for their partner.”

Dr. Henry Willner––Hospice Physician and Palliative Care Consultant, Capital Hospice.

It began as a young child when I lived in foster homes and a Children’s Home during the Great Depression in the 1930s and continued through the 1940s. I learned to write and tell stories to anyone who would listen as a way to connect with the people in my life. I didn’t understand why my friends and schoolmates lived a different life from mine: pretty clothes, bicycles, parents who picked them up in big, black cars, while I wore second-hand clothes and walked everywhere.

My writing passion flourished during the early 1950s, when as a student nurse, I learned to write narrative non-fiction in the form of 'nurse’s notes' on patients' charts that described in detail: how the wound smelled and the color of the wound drainage. Again, the medium was words.

My next writing journey began in the 1960s with my graduate education to earn a PhD in Sociology where the predominant medium was numbers. I learned a new form of thinking and writing that was heavily focused on the manipulation of quantitative data. Writing science was a challenge because I preferred words to numbers. But I accepted the challenge and evolved into a social science researcher, publishing books and articles as an academic sociologist. But my thirst for narrative non-fiction remained. This hunger led me to my current journey: creative non–fiction.

Early in 2000, my husband showed physical signs of a severe neurological disease: hand tremors, facial tremors, and slightly slurred speech. I began writing a journal of my observations. On Friday the 13th, 2000, he was diagnosed with ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. I continued this journal throughout our journey. Journaling exposed me to myself. I found that sometimes I wanted the dying to happen sooner so I didn’t have to watch his pain and he would be free of this ugly disease, but then he would be free of me. The contradictions loomed large during the journey we shared.

In my late seventies, I continue to feed my passion as I write my memoirs, Last Flight Out: Living, Loving & Leaving, and Sweet Abandon: A Journey into Secrets and Lies. Belonging to a literary community helps me learn, grow, evolve, and connect with other human spirits––a precious gift.
