When you have moments of energy and you feel so good about your illustrations. But then you take a look back at them and realize its all wrong. Its time to start all over. And that is the moment you want to give up but YOU CANT! That's the moment of growth. It's really hard to push through that time and to get back on track. That is were I was for about two to three weeks. Then I put on one of my favorite movies and looked through a few of my favorite children's books. And with a big shove of determination I was ready. Do you have those moments I would love to hear how you get yourself through that time? Once I got my self out of that I look at my illustrations and realize wow this is great=) Keep moving with determination and motive that's my tool for my journey creating this book.

Time management is such an issue for me. Working from home is such a hard place to practice time management while working because you are in your comfort zone=/ so to overcome this discipline is the keyword. So I have given myself a challenge. An area I love to work is creating textiles and so Im setting a goal for myself each day I need to create one textile so by the end of the week I will have 5-7 and that way I can start putting a portfolio together. I think doing this little goal will help me keep focus on other projects and complete my goals=) On to the challenge. Sharing my first textile.

Have been exploring my skill for a while now and I really thought I liked what I was doing but in fact it really wasn't what I wanted. So I am back in it again and reworking some stuff but I have a strong direction to where I am headed. I have been really thinking about what I love most of and its "LINE and Texture". I am redoing some work and working digital with ink line and mixing textures into it. Here is a practice piece I was practicing with ink and digital painting. I am really happy with it.

It has been a journey discovering my style. I have struggled working in different medium trying to figure out what exactly do I like and what best represents my work. With the inspiration of my husband, hard work, and all my artist inspiration. I finally am happy with my work. And its still the first step but I will work hard to perfect it. This illustration will be my new portfolio direction for children's books based on a story of monsters/food/and a dinner party. This will be a fun experience.

14. Unusual

Finished this piece just a few days ago. I used a variety of medium like: watercolor, mix medium, oil pastels, oil, texture and digital paint. This collaboration of materials help me develop another technique that will be great to work with in future projects. This illustration is another idea for a picture book I want to work on in the future. But for know this next month and a half I will be refining older illustrations in these different techniques I have learned. Then will be putting together a book! I have a lot to do but I am excited!

I finished this piece about two weeks ago. I love the way this turned out. My inspiration was Degas' ballerina paintings and drawings. I used different media like acrylic, pastel, oil and touched it up with digital paint. This collaboration of media was exciting to work with and in the future I will continue to use it. Enjoy!

22. Its about time! Illustration of Hoagie and Sylvester

Well, its about time I started this blog I have had this up for such a long time I just haven't the chance to put anything up. Know its time to do that. OK! so my goal is to become a children's book illustrator. I have always wanted to inspire little kids not to forget there imagination. Its such a key part of being a child also an adult. I think not having a imagination as a person you would just be boring to be around. So here is one illustration I have worked on, its one spread of a book that I have been working on. Its about a little boy and his stuff animal crab and there adventures together. But the main idea is a little boys imagination and the littlest things around his life are key factors of him starting to dream his adventures.
