5. Illustration Friday: Breezy

This week's theme was Breezy! I love this theme, especially since it's been a really breezy winter, and the thought of kite flying makes me excited about spring coming soon! I'm working on coloring this and will post it soon :)

7. Illustration Friday: Time

This week's theme on Illustration Friday is "Time" which is fitting because I didn't have enough "Time" to color this sketch. I really wanted to and hope to next week, but things have been crazy busy here! The NYC Comic Con is this weekend and I'll be wandering around aimlessly with my buddy Liz. It Should be fun! We'll be running into people we know and haven't seen in a while, seeing all the new stuff out there, networking, and of course, grabbing a cupcake from the Billy's Bakery stand at the Javitz center, the best cupcakes in NYC!! Also I'll be exhibiting at Surtex this year for the first time! I'm really excited, it'll be my first adventure into the licensing world! So between now and May I'll be working my butt off getting a database of artwork together to license :)

8. Support your local grapes!

In case you haven't noticed, I like food, and in both the eating and drawing categories :) So I did this piece recently for my Pep partner Jess' personal business card. It is inspired by my many winery trips of 2008! Some of my favorites were: Breaux Vineyards a beautiful vineyard in Virginia, Bedell Cellars and Macari Vineyards on the North Fork of Long Island, Macari let us bring our puggle Baxter inside where he got lots of attention and oyster crackers! We also went to Brotherhood Winery, Applewood Winery, and Warwick Valley Winery in Orange County New York, Warwick Valley has a great cafe and live music, as well as apple picking in the fall. And last but not least Ventimiglia Vineyard Farm winery in Wantage New Jersey. They have just recently opened themselves up to the public and I am very happy they did! They made my 30th birthday a very memorable one with their welcoming smiles, warm conversation, and extensive barrel tasting! If you are ever in northwest Jersey definitely stop by and pay them a visit, they are open on the weekends, cheers!!

9. Grilled Cheese Please!

My brother Kevin has a love for many things cheesy especially grilled cheese sandwiches! And since he is overseas in Cairo I thought a painting of a grilled cheese would be the perfect Christmas present for him to think of us here at home :) I painted it in acrylics, some of them metallic, on a small 4"x 4"canvas.
If anyone is interested in there own grilled cheese painting or a painting of their favorite food please feel free to email me, I might start putting some paintings up for sale on an Etsy site!

13. Holden!!

Not only does my little friend Holden and I share a birthday but it was also a very special one for us both, me turning the big 30 and Holden turning 1!! So in honor of that I made him this painting. He was born during the year of the pig and his mommy Chrisie couldn't find many blue pigs in the store so I thought this might help :)

15. Pup 'n' Paintings

Hiya! I hope you all had a nice weekend! While I'm battling a cold (boooo!) I did manage to get some work done and to download some pics sitting on my camera for quite a while now, one of them being this lil' gem of my pup Bax striking a pose in my studio in front of two oil paintings I did in high school, blast from the past!

16. Illustration Friday: Clutter

I think clutter and procrastination go hand in hand. My mind is cluttered and my studio is cluttered, I have sketches and half finished paintings all over the room! And because of that clutter I procrastinate uploading more to my blog and finishing my paintings. So this week's theme of "Clutter" on illustrationfriday.com gives me the perfect chance to post a couple of sketches that have been sitting in a cluttered pile on my desk :)

18. Illustration Friday: Sail

19. Illustration Friday: Poof!

Illustrationfriday.com's theme this week is Poof! And the first thing I thought of is how my littl pup's "Poof's" are so funny and cute. It's funny how puppies and babies can make so many gross things seem cute :)
So here is an old sketch I did a little while back that I quickly colored. It's fitting this was this week's subject, Baxter caught a mean virus that put him in the vet for two days getting IV's to make him better, which he is today, all healthy and on the mend! But the virus made him poof alot...

20. Illustration Friday: Sour

Sour is the theme this past week on illustrationfriday.com which I think is great! Because lately I've been obsessed with cheeseburgers! So here is my contribution. Maybe it's because it's summer but cheeseburgers have been on my mind a lot lately :) A childhood favorite as well as one of my top five favorite foods, here is an awesome blog I found recently devoted to this meaty cheesy delight! Also in my culinary adventures, the Jane burger at Jane restaurant has to be my favorite cheeseburger in NYC so far! Can't go wrong with cheese, meat and bacon!! And I'm not the only one talking burgers, The New York Times wrote this article about sliders and this one about the burger invasion in Paris all in the same day! Thanks Kev for the heads up "Viva la Cheeseburger!!"

This week's theme on illustrationfriday.com is "Forgotten" and I just realized I have totally "forgotten" to post this illustration I did way back in March! So here is my piece titled "The Night Hag". It was a submission to Fantagraphics Books: Beasts! Book Two. It didn't get in, but it pushed me to crank this out! Weee! Have a great weekend everyone!
