How to use this Page
You are viewing the most recent posts tagged with the words: DevonIndustry in the JacketFlap blog reader. What is a tag? Think of a tag as a keyword or category label. Tags can both help you find posts on JacketFlap.com as well as provide an easy way for you to "remember" and classify posts for later recall. Try adding a tag yourself by clicking "Add a tag" below a post's header. Scroll down through the list of Recent Posts in the left column and click on a post title that sounds interesting. You can view all posts from a specific blog by clicking the Blog name in the right column, or you can click a 'More Posts from this Blog' link in any individual post.
I made this collage portrait last week for
Devon's going away and Griffin's first birthday. Her kids are so adorable, it was an easy project. I added a bird next to Miranda's picture, because her nickname is Bird. Griffin got a worm because boys are all about dirt and worms. Both are drawings taken from my Birds of a Feather collection.
My favorite part of these collage portraits are hidden underneath the paint. Here, I added a vintage sewing pattern and button paper as a nod to
Devon's fabric design and love of sewing. The map signifies their moving to Germany (never mind that it's a map of England). You can see more of my collage portraits and order one for yourself
here.
I've gone a little
Ripple crazy. Thank goodness it's for a great cause. Above is the Junk A Doodle I got from one of my favorite illustrators,
Holli Conger. So love this!
When Devon of
Devon Industry posted this painting on her blog I wanted it badly. I suggested she list a print of it in her Etsy
shop and she did, so now it's mine. She's one of my Twitter pals. Love her work!
I'm working on my marketing and promotions this week. I'm ready to up my game. Here's a little sketch I drew last night. I love how ideas seem to come out of nowhere. I've never thought of a dinosaur who's into ballet, but here it is.
This is the Amy Butler Barcelona skirt I finished right before vacation. I used her home dec fabric, too. I love how it feels like it has more structure because of the fabric weight. It's also fully lined! I altered it a bit. There's one whole tier missing. Since I didn't take notes while I made it, I may not be able to repeat it. Oh well.
I've had this great old file cabinet forever. It's big and holds everything, but it was so ugly! It was gray and rusted, but with a lot of paint and a cute little decal, it's gorgeous! I bought the decal from
Single Stone Studios. They customized it to my specs. Don't you think everything should be beautiful, even something as mundane as a file cabinet? Isn't it just too cute?
Me, Bari, Devon, & Miranda.
Yesterday, I had the great pleasure to meet fabric designer extraordinaire,
Bari J. Also joining us was
Devon, an amazing muralist and textile designer, and her adorable daughter and my best friend, Beth. We had so much fun! I met Bari and Devon on Twitter. I know a lot of people just don't get the whole Twitter thing, but it's been great for me!
This is my best friend, Beth. She's a fantastic graphic designer and artist. We went to college together. As you know, I love color and she's color phobic, so I never imagined we'd end up both wearing purple. Great minds think alike, I guess.
Awesome skirt! So happy you shared a pic of it, I have skirt-envy. Ripple envy too, those are fantastic picks. And the new blog header is perfect for summer!
Thanks, Gina! I've got 2 more sketches I bought. I had a hard time resisting.
