This is a short post because it deals with nothing Maasai but is definitely appropriate from a children's book writer. I want to thank Jon Scieszka for his work over the past two years as the first Ambassador for Children's Books appointed by the Library of Congress. I don't know if being an Ambassador helped him evade traffic or parking tickets in DC but it should have, and then some. I heard him speak at a meeting of the Children's Book Guild of DC and he was fantastic. He spent his time as Ambassador encouraging reading and especially encouraging guys to read. In a children's book-depressed dark economy, Jon provided a bright spot. May his work continue to glow as he leaves the position.
